Redflyingmonkey Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Hello there ! I want to try the Tropical Skyrim mod, since it seems it'd go pretty well with the enb I use right now, on a different MO profile. Issue is that I just noticed that the mod changes a lot of creatures. I am wondering if this would cause a problem with sexlab creatures, or if there are certain tweaks to do after the installation, or if, like, only textures have been changed without touching the meshes and the skeleton. I also have "grass on steroids", and I don't know how this would work with Tropical Skyrim. Thanks
Cyndi Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I've never used tropical skyrim, so I can't say specifically if it works or not, but as far as Sexlab goes with creatures: As long as the mods you use just change monsters via skin or texture then you are fine. If they change the race, not so much. Sexlab grabs creatures by race. So if they make.... say a bear, that looks like a giant skeever, and give it its own giantskeeverrace or some such, it's not going to work. If they make said giant skeever out of a skin on top of a regular bear, and just change the npc name, then as far as the game and SL is concerned, it's still just a bear and you won't have any problems. For the second part, I think tropical skyrim has it's own grass density thing built in, and you may not need grass on steroids, but again never used tropical skyrim.
gvman3670 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Warning right up front. You will see a FPS hit for sure and you might even get lost in places. Not sure about the critters because I haven't used an bestiality mods. And I wouldn't suggest grass on steroids, unless it will allow you to thin the jungle a little bit. But the tropical overhaul does give a nice change to an agin game and explains the skimpy armors.
pclp2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Tropical sees the Screenshoots out really awesome. But: - The mod changed as your Skyrim almost everything an undo mach is almost impossible (whether manually, MO or NMM) - Even if you are on the road in the middle, you do not see the road - In caves you come no further, because in the passage with palm trees etc. A wonderful mod, but unfortunately not playable - my conclusion from the practice
ToJKa Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 That unfortunately is correct. Since it replaces some plants that are also used in dungeons, it's impossible to play some of them  Like ENB, it looks great, but you can't play with it
Fenderstat Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I am doing a play through and I still see SL creatures, just not all of them. I personally am loving it, Skyrim is much more sinister when you can't see the nasties until they are charging out on top of you.
Fenderstat Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I don't know how the grass would go but the vegetation is pretty thick, you probably wouldn't want more of it. I haven't encountered a hitch yet and I find it amazing I now get lost in a game I know back to front. It does make finding outside ore veins close to impossible though.
Adam Jensen Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 That unfortunately is correct. Since it replaces some plants that are also used in dungeons, it's impossible to play some of them  Like ENB, it looks great, but you can't play with it I actually play with ENB. I been playing with ENB for 400 hours now. I really wish someone took the resources of Tropical Skyrim and made a new island like that kid did with Falskaar.
ToJKa Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Yes, i know people play with it. My system just has a crappy, old GTS450 that melts if i even think about it.
Redflyingmonkey Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Thanks guys, I guess if it makes the game unplayable I won't try. Can't the blocking issue with the trees be solved with a disable command on the console ? Damn, I really wanted to play around with it considering all the skimpy armors, and it'd have allowed me to stop using Frostfall too, would've let some free space in the papyrus for SD+ or other script heavy mods ...

Yes that's what I was going to say. I have to do that for Fallout 3 due to having replaced trees. Not sure about SL stuff though. I don't think it counts the creatures as entirely new ones and replaces the current ones which means it would probably work. Unless there's something with the names that would cause it not to.
pclp2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 You can fly through the trees when they are in the way with the console. TCL, I think. With regard to the animals. Wolves are raptors. I think it will then give problems with sex animations. But maybe there are in the mod "Install Options" for flora and fauna. Back then there was not.
Redflyingmonkey Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 I'm downloading it anyway, and I think looking at the forum section on the mod page that I'd have to replace all the names in sexlab with the CK or tesedit for it to work properly. Would probably have to scale some skeletons too, too much work ! I'm just going to play it with human sexlab, it's still a full win anyway right ?
1conseq Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 I'm playing with it, it doesn't cause a lot of problems IMO the mod adds a lot of trees, but most of them are "holographic", meaning that you can walk through them and NPC will also see through them and ignore that they are there, so you can't hide behind some trees - but honestly, after a few minutes you'll already learn which trees "exist" and which ones are in the imagination of the PC that thinks he's in a tropical part of Tamriel but has not actually left Skyrim. DId you guys actually found passages being blocked by trees? Actually I have not played too long, I'm not playing a lot of Skyrim lately. I imagine that inside some dungeons, those narrow passages might have plants that aren't holographic blocking the way. I don't think this mod is unplayable so far, but it has lots of room for improvement for sure. The FPS drops can be managed if you simply lower some specific settings, some very unnecessary ones that won't take anything away, especially if you are using ENB. The mod seriously blew me away the first time I played with it. When I saw the beaches and the port near Solitude, I was very impressed.

There is always Seasons of Skyrim ~ Summer Edition too. It's not bad, it just retex's some of the monsters so you don't get conflicts there. Doesn't seem to play nice with grass on steroids though for me (Gives me floaty grass even with a floaty grass .ini fix), but has it's own density plug-in. Much less invasive, but if you have and use Hearthfire for it's homes you need an update version that can load before hearthfires (weird landscape thing if you don't). It just makes the main esp behave like an esm. Even has a "climates of tamriel" weather patch too. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/46628/? If you plan on playing a vampire, might want to re-adjust the sunrise/sunset times though....
Redflyingmonkey Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 So I've tried it and it looks funky ! Really nice and stuff, and it seems that even with the name changes some creatures keep their sexlab animations, like the "jungle spider" or whatever. Still haven't tried the raptor and the gorilla, since I got a weird CTD as soon as I entered Morthal for some reasons ... Should try with a papyrus log and see if this is related to sexlab or something.
pclp2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 If you have a little longer played the MOD, but please write here your experiences it. It interests me, and probably also the other people. Otherwise, have fun and good luck with Tropical - graphically really an eye catcher.
Darkening Demise Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 While I'm sick of the winter rocky wasteland of Skyrim, I fear getting any landscape mods due to CTD and many other complications. Anyone know of a mod that would be not so risky? I did attempt TS but it never worked out.
Redflyingmonkey Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 Sorry clp I didn't see your post ! So I've tried TS for some days and I've had no CTD as of yet, and absolutely no change in framerate (and my rig is not the best one out there by far). I was careful when the overwriting propositions popped up, like those asking to overwrite some Immersive Creature meshes and stuff. In fact, I said hell no to any overwriting, and it works well if not for the frost troll that's called an "Ape" when it looks like a frost troll since I didn't overwrite it's meshes. The skeevers have all been replaced by raptors, which are pretty cool albeit a little ... static. Like, they look completely retarded. The textures are not really smooth too, I compiled them with Ordenador on top of that so it looks a bit mushy sometimes. Also, the line between shore and water is really patchy and crude, it's all squary and blocky. But the compatibility with sex mods is amazinnn', with all the skimpy replacers I've been putting on my Skyrim I felt like a moron playing with Frostfall. Now I finally let go of it and my papyrus seems to feel so much better, and at the same time all the skimpy armors look actually immersive ahaha. Also, Wet and Cold "Ashes" suits the whole thing really well, people wear face covers and stuff. I have to modify the shaders from "frosty" to "sandy" on the CK though, seems like if I don't deactivate it I randomly get frozen all over when I travel on the dev aveza. THE DEV AVEZA MAN ! Using it with TS is awesome ! I read a book once about two kids with weird powers that traveled the world and met this tribe of desert people who traveled on hovering ships. Made me dream all my childhood, and like doing it in Skyrim is really cool. That and "Dragonkiller Cart Reloaded" on Nexus makes some fine travelling time in the jungle or in the desert, I don't think I fast traveled once in like 20 hours of gameplay ! Little story, you know this Redguard from Interesting NPCs ? The one who's crazy about horker meat, Arena champion and all ? Well I took him on the Dev Aveza with me, and dressed him up in "desert clothes", like chitin parts and sandy cloak and leather bedrolls, then took another Interesting NPC, a female Redguard that's related to the horker loving dude (meaning she secretly loves him I think), and they follow me around Skyrim. We're like, all three dressed up in desert clothes with face covers and stuff, and we met at some point people riding zebras and dressed in panther fur (yeah they changed the fur textures to panther ones, and I added horsemen all around skyrim with the "Horsemen" mod on Nexus). There was like a tribe of them riding furiously in the Whiterun plains (which now look like a savanna, filled with the lions from the "Prides of Skyrim" mod). So I fly too low with the skyship, and I enter the aggression range, so battle music and shit, and that horker meat loving Redguard goes completely BONKERS. He starts like running round and round on the Aveza and shouting stuff like "Imma kill you", and at some point he jumps, and starts chasing around the riders with his huge war hammer. And I swear, the same riders started laughing and riding in circles around him, poking him with their spears, until they got bored and left. All the while, the other female Redguard was sitting in a corner of the ship drinking mead with a look on her face like "Moron..." That's just one of the things that's amazing with TS, this same stuff might have happened on vanilla Skyrim and I would've just been pissed off at the retarded mercenary, but now I was like imagining a band of desert raiders making fun of the crazy Redguard pirate, it was so cool, wish I had taken screenshots... So yea, try the mod if you are interested in it, and what's fun is that there are a lot of gravitating plugins around it on Nexus, like clutter textures, lions, birds, 2k textures and stuff that really enhance the whole thing.
pclp2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 @Redflyingmonkey: TS is therefore to recommend - that makes me happy for you. When I backed up my 68 GB Data folder, I'll maybe try again. Thanks for the feedback.
pclp2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Short feedback to TS from me. Yes, I actually downloaded and installed. And again uninstalled. So what to dense vegetation is concerned (see prev. Posts): - Do not use with Skyrim Flora Overhaul - Better Cities because otherwise you stand in the middle of Riverwood and do not know it. Why I uninstalled again. Because I of the insect noise, the bird noise, etc. - annoys me. I play Skyrim with 7.1 headphones and i really get a jungle paddywhack. The second reason is the FPS. Before continuous 60 fps, then sometimes only 20 fps. My Video Card Gigabyte GTX 680 Overclocked 4GB. However, with ENB! So if you play without ENB and "FarCry - Hardcore" loves - download and try. @ Redflyingmonkey: Thanks for that which you have called me TS remembered. Did I totally forgot.
Redflyingmonkey Posted March 12, 2014 Author Posted March 12, 2014 Aww ! I don't know why it works so well for me though. I changed some stuff in my ini and the jungle is not as dense, I mean the trees are higher so I can see where I'm going most of the time. I only want to find Ayleid HD textures now, I can't find them anywhere on Nexus :[[
gvman3670 Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Ayleid ruins in TS would be pretty cool. I only got it to run without sapping my framerate too badly by running the texture optimizer. Which, funny as it seems, actually RAISED the texture sizes in some instances.
