Saves become unplayable with SL mods.

Good day everyone. I have browsed forums for a while to see if this question was answered. I haven't found any definite solution, so I will present my question here.

 

My game save become constantly unplayabla, with SexLab mods. Game itself works just fine. There are no CTDs or other problems. However, game saves become unstable and CTD straight from the load. My current character loads well in Live Another Life cell, but saves become corrupted in Skyrim.

 

This situation is not unique to my current mod environment. I had lot more active mods, but I disabled most of them for testing purposes. I verified my game files without plugins and completely reinstalled mods before starting my character. Earlier today I closed my game before dinner. After that my save files became unplayable, again.

 

I will provide Papyrus and Loading order information. I disabled and enabled the log, so what is presented here is a fresh info for save that CTD right from the load.

 

It is also worth of mentionin that my game does not suffer of these problems, if SexLab and mods relying to it are not installed. This makes me to believe that this is either a mod conflict, misunderstanding of my part or saves are just bloating with SL. My machine can handle the stress. My previous campain included wide variety of HD textures and vast amount of mods unmentioned here.

 

I have not used Wrye Bash for these mods. I would like to resolve this problem before doing so. I am currently moving to Mod Organizer to provide better protection for my saves. Still, the problem is so severe that I think it is  best not make changes or play the game before the CTD culprit(s) are located.

Well sexlab mods are not intended to be used on your good saves or game that you actually want to do anything with as many of them have a shit ton of scripts and the more scripts there are the higher the chance of things getting messed up in the game and saves. Plus if you then add more mods that also have scripts you are just asking for trouble.

Personally, I run a pretty script heavy game. So when I first make a game, (I always keep my saves) I use the very first save I made whilst my character is in the live another life jail cell. And from that save I load whatever current save I'm running. Perhaps you can try that and it might help with your problem?

COC QASMOKE

 

In the console, from the title screen.

I can't call this one solved yet, because it would be good to know the source of fast save corruption. If someone is able to make some sense from the loading order and Papyrus log, then any help would be appreciated.

A lot of fnis based mods can cause that sometimes.

Not all of them, and not for everyone.  Seems to be kind of a "luck of the draw" sort of thing.

 

"Pinup Poser" for example is rather notorious for that particular ctd.

I have a stable running game right now that's close to 200 hours and I have SL mods running in it (Aroused, Aggressive Prostitution and MatchMaker, plus a while back added Defeat).

 

So I don't think it's the SL mods themselves. It's when you add Frostfall, RND, Cloaks, Cold and Wet, When Vampires Attack, and the rest of those heavily scripted mods that influence a lot of NPCs in a large area. The resulting conflicts with those things and SL/SoS are the problems and I've run across them myself....just SoS, more NPCs and When Vampires Attack together botched an old game of mine.

 

It's all about balance and keeping scripting to a minimum.

Morferous, when you remove a mod that doesn't "clean" your game save. There's no such thing as clean saves. When a mod is removed it's scripting is baked into your game save and will cause bloating of that game save. Check your papyrus log and it should still have instances of removed scripts running even with the mod deactivated or removed.

 

Experiment a bit to find what mods work well together, find mods that do what you want them to do with minimal scripting (or none would be even better) and then start a game with those mods that get along well together. And, for the love of god, don't remove any of them midgame. :lol:

I understand, but my game had advanced only 1 hour. Is this the highest time to play before saves becomes completely unplayable?

My actual campaign saves were not involved. They are safely stored elswhere.

 

Getting a long-term playing Skyrim game is a matter of experimentation. Unfortunately, there is no real way to gauge the stability of a mod other than testing it out. And often rushing to install more than one mod at a time will muddy the picture.

It can be frustrating, but once you have a playable game - its the best!

 

But, I would recommend that newcomers stay away from using SL+ SL mods on "important" saves.

Hrmm, it's worth trying to create a little macro command for this. It would work as the following:

 

1. You start Skyrim with a mod active.

2. About a few seconds later it automatically opens the console to execute a loadcell of QAsmoke or any other empty room.

3. About a few seconds later, it executes a load command for the most recent savegame.

 

The bug happens to me also, loading a random save 10 or so places down the list fixes it also. If Skyrim starts for the first time since the PC came on, it doesn't happen. Looks like a dump of data doing this maybe.

I run a shit-ton of script heavy mods.

 

Frostfall, RND, Private Needs, SL Aroused, SOS, Run For Your Lives, When Dragons Attack, Wet and Cold, Cloaks, Civil War Overhaul, and several others like Defeat...I get a 50-50 stability shot every time I start up the game.

 

Sometimes it works as well as you would expect, and sometimes it decides it wants to freeze up and crash.

 

Every now and then, I'll save a game, then quit out. When I come back, if I try to continue...it refuses to load without crashing, so I have to go to the Load screen. The crashing save is named hdtExtension.

 

I will then need to load up the save I made prior to that one, and things work fine. The way I see it, this is just the price I pay for running such a heavily modded game on such an old computer.

Morferous, when you remove a mod that doesn't "clean" your game save. There's no such thing as clean saves. When a mod is removed it's scripting is baked into your game save and will cause bloating of that game save. Check your papyrus log and it should still have instances of removed scripts running even with the mod deactivated or removed.

 

Experiment a bit to find what mods work well together, find mods that do what you want them to do with minimal scripting (or none would be even better) and then start a game with those mods that get along well together. And, for the love of god, don't remove any of them midgame. :lol:

 

I am using a different name in Steam, so you couldn't know that I am one of those guys hanging around the forum and giving same answers to new players that you just did for me. I might actually spend too much time solving problems and hunting bugs. Thank you for answering. :angel:

 

Reading Papyrus logs and dealing with possible SL troubles were new to me. I haven't been around LoversLab enough to know if there was a known bug that was easy to fix. Experience has taught me to ask first and rather look silly than bust my game and feel like an idiot.

 

I guess that need mods are conflicting there and that causes my saves to crash. I have been able to play the game as by loading my LAL save first, so it is (mostly) ok.

 

Thank you for all who answered. I guess I have to live with my problems for now. Frostfall and RND are too important for me to give up. I am not being stubborn, but part of the thrill with SL mods is that they leave my character more vunerable for Frostfall and RND effects. There is more at stake than just loosing some gear and everything takes much more planning.
