Post your rig!

Hey, just as the title says, tell us what PC specs you are using for skyrim. When I first decided to get into PC gaming, I had NO idea what was required to play skyrim with with texture and other different mods while still expecting a decent frame rate. So I wanted to help those who needed this kind of information. A lot of people are actually curious as to what kind of rig you're playing skyrim on. Hell, go a step further and post your best screenshots and show off the raw power of your equipment.

Unfortunately, my rig is in transit so I have no screenshots at the moment but I will post my rig.

Also this isn't about who has the best system. This is merely a place where you can tell the world what we game on and how it meets OUR needs.

I edited this Original Post because I wanted to reassure some users this was about skyrim and not to make users with "inferior" (hate that word) systems feel bad. I'm sure there are thousands of people on here with a more beastly setup than I have but I see no reason to feel bad. If anything, it just gives me a knowledge of what I need to upgrade or even sacrifice in order to achieve a similar experience, so please also post screenshots of your rig or your best skyrim pic with the lowest and highest attainable fps you've experienced.

Why such an overkill on CPU and than let it down on GPU?

I'm using an i7 3770 along with a R9 290 OC but mostly my CPU load doesnt go higher than 40% while my GPU sits on 100%.

But for sure you got a nice machine there.

Some shots below.

Not my pc but seen it on a lan and always wanted to build one!

Anyway, out of all location, this spot really kicks my fps where it drops to about 35.

More modest cpu myself as i've never really been convinced there is a tangible performance gain to be had in the type of games i play (space marine and skyrim) by having a powerful CPU so it's always been the bottom of my upgrade list.

i3 dual core 3.06gz

Saphire R9 270X 4 gb

8 GB DDR3 1600mhz

500 GB primary HD with another 500GB as backup

Just been playing with sharpshooter V5 ENB and getting screens like...

2014_03_01_00001.jpg

FPS from the ENB tool drops down to 29 when i load into an area and then averages between 48 and 60

Considering doing a bit more upgrading and going from 8GB to 16GB and then maybe getting a i5 or i7 as I was reading the new consoles have quad core CPU's so it might become more of a requirement for gaming

I took pictures of my build but they don't come out very good in the dark for some reason. The red LED lights aren't as detailed in pictures as real life. I am saving up to get a new graphics card or go dual with crossfire. That is the last and final component that is out dated lol.

Hey, thanks for the compliment. The reason my CPU is so up there is because the primary use of my PC is music production and video editing. Gaming was just something as an after-thought. If I enjoy sky rim as much as I think I will then I'll be upgrading to a 4gb model.

Welp, how is this thread related to Skyrim in anyway? All it can do is making people with inferior systems feel bad...

Posted

It does have some relations to skyrim as the game can be very taxing even on a monster machine if you got tons of HD textures and power hungery ENB, but I agree it's more of show off thread. Would be great people start posting the ENB they use, resolution they play at, average FPS they got in interiors/exteriors, that way it would help people find the ideal ENB suited for their rigs.

I don't want to be harsh to anybody and i have to say thanks the OP for his idea it may come in handy for someone building a new rig  but'
I believe that some validation is needed before we post anything here that will make computing power "starving" pc users -like me- run to buy something above their means.
My rig plays skyrim with ENB  just fine with these specifications : http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/z6ewe/ : http://valid.canardpc.com/flttj3 :.

lol why? I would expect as we are on an adult site we are all adults so we can deal (one would hope) with people having better/worse stuff than us.

Would be nice if peeps did actually say what performance they get from the game (fps/screenshot) with there posts though since going from the other threads (post your screenshots/show your skyrim counterpart) there isn't a lot of difference between some i see and some i can make myself (on a i3 as well)

Hi, I wanted it to be related to sky rim because I'm sure there are many people who are dying to know what kind of hardware it takes to play sky rim with some of the jaw-dropping enbs enabled. I know when I decided to pick a GPU, I wanted to know which one I should have picked that could handle opethfeldt comfortably. I also wanted people to post a screenshot so others can get a better visual on what kind of graphics they could expect.

Also, I'm sure there are thousands of people on here who has a better rig than mines. I don't see why I should feel bad about it though. This isn't a thread to display who has the biggest Wang. It's just a topic where we all just get to tell the world what we game on and that it works for what we need it to be.

Thank you for your input, however :)

You may be right, but personnaly, i don't cvare much of overall performance of my rig : it works pretty fine and may run some ENB if i wanted to.

Then what do you care about regarding PCs? since i'd have though how well it runs games is the common sense benchmark for a gaming PC :)

My old machine was able to run Skyrim in full HD with ultra preset (except shadows at high)+high performance ENB with 25-30+ FPS outside.

That was C2D E7200 @3.8GHz+HD 6770 1GB @935/1250MHz.+4GB DDR2

Just more beauty ENB mods require stronger machine.

most of my rig innards are gifts, so i dont care if they're lower end or midrange only. it works fine enough for me.. puttin more money in my bicycles than in my pc mostly
skyrims running good, replacers for bodies, hairs etc, enb wind of the nords (older version) with some texture replacers like for the cities of whiterun and windhelm and aMidianBorn retextures combined with handmade ones

only got some micro stutters in areas around riften (sometimes ctd) and with some handplaced wildlife mods and cities with more population mods or when i enter them first time or ctd when i load a save when someone talks to me at the moment the save was made (like in the taverns) loading an old save and then reloading works fine.. maybe its the game, maybe the pc, i dont care since it works^^

The stuff about people with inferior systems feel bad is just another way to say this looks like a show off thread (at least up to my post). And, no, if it is related so Skyrim, the title should be "What system are you playing Skyrim on, and why?"
