Alrite I did a quick check to see if there was a topic about this here on LL, and I just couldn't find any!

But if there is already one, then please feel free to close my thread and post me a link to that topic :)

Anyway, the guys over at TESRenewal have almost made my fantasies come true! I can have Morrowind in beautiful updated graphics in the SKyrim Engine! W00T!

Here's a teaser:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYrH_cb8zeY#t=44

As for requirements:
1. You need the Morrowind GOTY edition (Or morrowind + both the expansions), doesn't have to be steam enabled
2. You need Skyrim
3. You need legit versions of both (pretty obvious...)

Here's the Project Page (keep an eye out for when download/update happens again): http://tesrenewal.com/forums/skyrim/archived-topics/4252

To help out the development of this project please consider giving a subscription to the youtube channel or drop a like on their website :)
Encouragement really does help modders!

As for the downloads, they seem to be on/off recently. I was lucky and was able to get the full package but I think 1 of the links is broken down right now/they stopped the public alpha because of bugs and such.

Now if you 'scuse me, time to dust off the ole Morrowind discs and rip them of their .esp's and try the installation process :)

Update v9.0.1:

That's my big dilemna: I'm literally DYING to try a serious Morrowind game (I had it when I was younger, but I mostly messed around, never did any quest lol). Thing is, I don't like the combat system of the game, so of course Skyrim's engine will make it better for me. But since the project isn't finished, it's not like I could just download it now and start a serious game now can I?

I can already predict the mass of bugs this will have. A "mod" with such content is bound to have glitches every other step. Good luck to them, they will need it.

i got all original Morrowind+expansions boxed at time they came out hope that also works or only GothY version?

Still got un open anthology box also which have also Morrowind with expansions is that GoThy edition?

It says either GOTY or the base game + expansions. So you should be good.

It is a big download to get all the assets. Plus having both games installed in a way that you can merge them is pretty big, too. But I have the stuff here to make it happen and I will at some point. Curiosity is sure to get the best of me eventually. I almost went and installed Skywind a while back and stopped for some reason.

Meh, it is currently only an 'alpha' but even then it's pretty darn good.

Only current problems right now is that their are no NPC's (it's a ghost town) and I get horrible framerates at spots but I must say everything looks stunning and it gives me this awesome nostalgic feeling :)

The same people have a download on that page for Morroblivion and I heard that version turned out to be pretty good as well, so I have high hopes :)

Is it gonna take awhile, yea.

I mean their re-modeling most of the stuff in there to higher polycount as well as re-texturing and other stuff!

I was gonna' give Morroblivion a run, but never did. However, I have modded my Morrowind game (of course :D) so it has the Oblivion combat system instead of the godawful die roll nonsense. Plus better bodies and so on. I even modded my own treehouse. But even with all the mods I've applied to it it is still archaic as hell. Seemed so awesome and on the cutting edge at the time, but Morrowind seems like a relic now when I play it.

Huge news!

Updated Links are back up!

And they may include NPC's!!!

(Haven't tested because I'm still downloading lol)

Check OP for the Big download button xD

Beyond Skyrim seems to be very ambitious projects! Almost all the provinces being done seems impossible to me... I mean Falskaar was very amazing for young kid to accomplish it himself, although he spent a year with his parents support doing such. I just think it would be wise if one province was focused on and all the available support focused on such. Although I doubt that would ever happen, people do as they will with their free time, if they don't want to do such they don't have to, they aren't getting paid! :P

*Edit*

Lol I thought Skywind was part of Beyond Skyrim! Apparently not it seems, it's Return to Morrowind apparently.

Another ambitious project I didn't research before.

I can't find the assets pack on my computer now. :(

So I went to the site and the Google drive links are giving me fits. The bottom link in the list must be slower than molasses since it said it would take over 12 hours! :o I also need to check my Morrowind install as I haven't played in a while. Maybe I can give this a run in the next day or two.

Edit: I got one of the Google drive links to go now and that says less than two hours download time. Whew....that's much better.

Hehehe added a teaser trailer of v9.0.1 (the guy didn't install the voice pack though <_<

Hopefully that wil satiate you fellows while you wait for the downloads to finish!

Hehehe, I'm playing it right now with all my other mods installed and surprisingly enough it's pretty smooth!

Haven't gotten far from Seyda Neen yet (haven't had time) but it's pretty beautiful :)

NPC's still lifeless husks but you can take quests from some of them (main quest) but beware the occasional unidentified crashes!

It's an alpha so that's to be expected however I'm not sure how well it will perform when all the scripts are done considering that papyrus tends to be a bitch in Skyrim.

that's right without morrowind would be "bethesda" nothing without this game would no longer exist. Morrowind for me was the best roleplaying at all,

it would be a dream to play morrowind with skyrim energy. but I think it will remain a dream for me,

because I do not think that will be skywind fully compatible with the German version.

Played through as far as Belmora town.

Good news - has NPCs now

Bad news they don't interact well (like they did in original game)

Good news - Graphics are gorgeous

Bad news - most NPCs are butt nekked ( seeing the forum I'm posting on, this may NOT be bad news)

Good news - Sexlab works hear

Bad news - some Sexlab mods broken hear (factions etc)

Bad News - not much in the way of encounters, no bandits, animals etc attacking

This doesn't use questing system from Skyrim - so to follow a quest, either have an eidetic memory or write it down.

Still brings back memories of the original game though

Hehehe,

I hope to god they don't get rid of that 'feature'.

Honestly guessing where you were supposed to go and what quest you were on was like half the fun of Morrowind!

Sometimes I turn off the quest markers, just for that reason.

I didn't mention it earlier, but for my install, Doors and stairs are a little glitchy. Do you have to hop up stairs, and did you find any "one-way" doors?

Posted

Haven't encountered much in the way of stairs.

I have encountered 1 way doors though and have no inexplicable reason why they are that way.

I tried tcl and I still couldn't get through the 1 way doors :(

Some weird mesh errors I suppose.

Belmora is loaded with stairs and all of them you have to hop up, going down is a little easier

I dont remember any stairs in that game that I didn't hop up. A truly perfect recreation!
