panthercom Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 This is the 3rd time this has happened to me; after loading a facial expression using the fe 'xx' command the expressions reset themselves within ten seconds. I'm using the FAFF ability embedded within Sexout. The only way I have been able to fix the problem in the past was with a new game install. I tried uninstalling every single mod and doing a clean save, and just running a discrete copy of FAFF, but this did not solve the problem. I had made a New Vegas data folder backup, and I used that to copy over everything in my install folder other than meshes and textures, but this problem is still happening. Any ideas how to fix this? There must be some script running that is forcing an expression reset.
nyaalich Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Are you using a melee weapon? I've never used FAFF, but I had my facial expression stuck in a derp face for awhile until I did something with my weapon (took out and swung again? Sorry. It's been a long time).
panthercom Posted January 31, 2014 Author Posted January 31, 2014 It's not an issue with a stuck face, it's an issue with an expression loaded from the playidle command resetting itself after ten seconds. This happens on my character and on NPC's. The facial expressions used by Amra's animations still work. Now that I think about... I wonder if there is some voodoo going on with Amra's animation resetting the player's expression after sex ends, because earlier versions of his animations would leave the sex expression on the players' face after the animation ended, but that is no longer happening anymore. Of course, I had this problem happen to before I even knew Sexout existed. I would like to know how to repair it without a reinstall, because I don't want to have to do that after I install TTW.
D_ManXX2 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 that is the animation ending did you try opening the animation in nifscope ?? if so what does it say clamp or loop if it is loop it should continue playing that facial over and over again. but if it i clamp it will only play it once then revert to normal.

So there should be a .kf somewhere for the facial expression that I could open in Nifskope, and a property assigned to the expression that sets it to clamp or loop? These expressions used to stay on permanently until I used the playidle resetface command, or closed the game. Now something has changed within my game that makes them reset after ten seconds, and you think the actual face expression animation files might provide some answers about what has happened?
panthercom Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Update: It appears this problem has been observed by Amra too; he's not sure how to fix it yet. If you like to use poses with expressions you may be in for a bit of trouble, because enabling any pose, such as Slave in Pose content, will cause the face to reset itself, even if you set the face expressions to loop in the GECK (by making an .esp)
prideslayer Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 FWIW I never got the expressions to work right. The whole reason the FAFF animations (yes, they are .kf files -- look in data/meshes/characters/_male/idleanims/Expressions) are included in sexout was to, at some point, support changing facial animations during sex. To change to pained/angry/whatever during rape, 'O face' for blowjobs, and so on. That hasn't happened because I wasn't able to get them to 'stick' either. The same goes for the breast resizing -- there are a series of morph targets similar to the expressions, but targeting the breast bones, that simply scale the bones but don't actually animate them. If you play them in the console, they will resize the characters breasts just fine. However, their interaction with the actual animations is problematic because some of the animators do "the bad thing" and scale the bones around during the animation when they should just be moving them -- but not scaling them. I will try to take another look at all this this week. I'd really like to get the facial animations and other stuff working, it's been on my todo list for too long. Maybe a fresh look at it is all I need.

I'm pretty sure if I do a fresh install of New Vegas the expressions will work the way they used to... for a while. It may just be a coincidence that my expressions stopped working after my install of Amra's futa plugin and latest animations. I'm about to do a major computer upgrade, so any reinstalls of New Vegas won't happen until next week for me. It's worth noting that Amra appears to be using some custom face expressions; I don't know how he is implementing them, but his open mouth expressions open the mouth wider than FAFF FE27 'yawning' so there are less clipping issues. It would be nice to add his expressions to the FAFF list if possible.
prideslayer Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I believe he's animating the head within the animation files he creates -- the vanilla sexout animations do not animate those bones. If I can get the FAFF expressions working properly I'd like to use those, and we can of course add more of them to help with the clipping issues. If not, then we can slowly recreate/replace the existing animations with ones that do animate the face. I'd prefer they be kept separate so the same animation can be used for consensual and nonconsensual without the expression looking wrong, but that only matters if I can get the expressions working on their own in the first place.
