CursedCrusader Posted November 28, 2025 Posted November 28, 2025 (edited) This is also for new modders like myself. I spent the last 3 days, modding this game. Its by far the hardest game I ever modded. With a lot of frustration I finally managed to make my own bare bones mod list... but it wasn't worth the trouble. The animations didn't look as good and it just didn't felt like the porn game I was hoping Skyrim would become. Then I realized that I need far more than just 50 mods to make it into a good experience. I honestly gave up and downloaded the Immersive and Adult collection on Nexus. Well that shit is just as unstable and if I'm honest I didn't like how it did a total conversion of vanilla. It didn't even come with pregnancy mods. So here I'm again. I will clean install MO2 and start from scratch. My initial goal was to just throw a couple of mods together in a few hours and coom. I now accepted that I have to spent days or even a week or two, to mod Skyrim to get a good porn game. SUMMARY: Skyrim isn't a game you can just sex mod in a few hours like the Sims and have fun right away (unless you want a ugly sex game). So if you are not willing to invest much more time, mod something else. Oh and please don't throw all mods in at once, you will thank me later. Load them in batches of 10 or something and play test for a bit. EDIT: Is there a Discord server for Loverslab and for Skyrim specifically? Would be nice to have a discord server to get help for troubleshooting Edited November 28, 2025 by CursedCrusader
Especially for beginners like you, experienced mod users have put in a lot of work by creating various tutorials... and individual help is also provided in these threads. I use Discord myself, but in my opinion, such fundamental help can't be given there. Of the 50 mods you mentioned, about 25 are needed to even use more complex mods in games like Skyrim... so they have absolutely nothing to do with sex! Have others had this experience? Of course—almost everyone here on the forum has gone through this phase.

That's just the bare amount of sh*t you need to have a stable, running game. Yes, we've all been there, and it's a bloody nuisance that for the one mod you're interested in, you have to install a bunch of secondary mods, which all need something else you've nerver heard of. 1 hour ago, CursedCrusader said: EDIT: Is there a Discord server for Loverslab and for Skyrim specifically? The more precise you can pose your question, the better the result will be. 1

I'm trying to follow a guide by LustfulLuna which I found on reddit https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gQ2Ncazc60twFq4QvrwNgxvfL8sWRZtHH2m4B2bFUK4/edit?tab=t.0 Tbh I could reinstall the basic stuff by myself but I still feel more comfortable following a guide. However I'm in the process of clean installing Skyrim and MO2 AGAIN. BethINI and Vortex messed up Skyrim a bit. Its still playable but weird stuff happens, even after I removed all the mods. I think I only really used 10 or 5 mods for actually sex game play. The other were just dependencies, core mods and of course tons of stuff for presets.

Count Chocula Posted November 30, 2025 Posted November 30, 2025 When I first started adding mods to Skyrim, I just threw a bunch of mods together and they sorta kinda worked. Eventually I started reading and now I know what I'm doing, at least to enough of an extent to have the mods I want doing what I want them to do (in no way would I myself an expert mod user). Their are at least three problems with Nexusmods collections, in my opinion, that keep me from using them. One, they require Vortex. I'm not in lock-step agreement with the folks behind Tale of Two Wastelands (and in fact I do not like TTW), but I agree with their assessment that Vortex is so hard to use it seems like it was intentionally designed to be as unintuitive as possible. Two, you have to take the collection's entire mod package, then add/subtract mods if the way the collection comes out of the box is not to your liking. Three, the main purpose of collections is to get people to pay for premium membership so they get the "one click" collection installs, the main purpose is not to make mod installs easy for users. So abandoning Vortex and Nexusmods collections is a huge step in the right direction.
garniu Posted December 8, 2025 Posted December 8, 2025 Good luck on your modding adventure, it's gonna be hard but very enjoyable at the end. If I didn't have an interest in tech/modding then I would have quit long ago (1600h in SE + 74h in Ck + 200h or more on xedit/bodyslide and the other tools)

"BethINI Pie" is supposed to be for AE, but I never tested it; I wrote my own ini editor before I found the pie. On 11/28/2025 at 5:05 PM, CursedCrusader said: Thank you for the guides. Guides are great, but you won't get far unless you learn the following absolute basics: Using your mod manager to query which mod provides a specific file. Using your mod manager to resolve file conflicts. Using xEdit to resolve plugin record conflicts. Using NifSkope to view meshes. Using a utility like DirectXTex or Paint.Net to view textures.
