Weird body distortion after messing around with outfit studio

So I was trying to fit a clothing mesh to my CBBE TBBP body using this guide

when I reloaded the game, my whole body became messed up, even when I'm not wearing the changed clothing item.

I've tried reinstalling the clothing mod, the tbbp mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54044), rebuilding the body to fit TBBP HDT type,  ran nemesis again, still the same :( any help is greatly appreciated!!

Looks more like a skeleton issue. Does Bodyslide know where the right skeleton can be found? If it picks up the wrong one, that's the sort of result you would get. In particular the breasts look weighted to the wrong bones, if any.

Nope, just mine unfortunately

Not enough information.  How do you know?  Did you strip a female NPC to a nude mesh to see?  Or are you using a mod that gives your character a unique body?  Does the issue manifest when wearing modded and vanilla outfits?  You only posted nude images.  Try posting an image of your character wearing the modded outfit and another with something from the base game like steel armor to narrow it down.  You need to provide more details and perform more testing if you want useful help.

Why?  Nemesis is for generating behaviors after you update your list of animations.  It has nothing to do with outfits.

Ah thank you for this, before I did `unequipall` on my other female follower npc and her mesh looked fine : (maybe because I'm using Bijin Warmaidens? (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40038?tab=description) maybe its using something different? but I thought all females are using the same femalebody_0.nif ? Idk if thats related at all

On second look, it seems like its happening to all NPCs, male or female. so Its most definitely what you guys said a skeleton problem but I'm not sure how I got it from editing an outfit

As for the body mod, I'm using CBBE (curvy option), then added with tbbp mod from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54044, (dont think it matters but I also replaced the skin texture with fair skin and bijin skin).

This is my character with the full modded outfit on, doesn't seem like there's any skeleton problem so far. But if I unequip the body armor it just goes back to the distorted skeleton. (same goes for vanilla outfits)

So what happened was, I tried to fit a clothing piece to the body, then when I tried it out, thats when the skeleton distortion happened. So I tried reinstalling the whole thing, CBBE, (fair skin, bijin skin), HDT PE, XPMSE, and the HDT TBBP mod. I think I read somewhere that I needed to run Nemesis after installing the last three (this was a long time ago, so I might've been mistaken and I did it just cause tho)

this underwear was the item I tried editing btw, if that helps

This was the male version of my character, it looks the same for NPCs. Another thing I just noticed, when the character is in idle state, the whole body is moving but the dick stays in one position. Same with the boobs on female characters

Check your body in Outfit Studio. TBBP has two sternums per breast.

Left: NPC L Breast and NPC L Breast01

Right: NPC R Breast and NPC R Breast01

TBBP is 100% compatible with the current version of XPMSE Skeleton.

It is not textures. The texture mismatch does not distort the body, it just produces things like nipples on the skin not matching where the nipples on the mesh are and a visual fault at the hips.

I did say to check vanilla NPCs.  Using a NPC replacer that uses its own body mesh isn't testing a vanilla NPC.

If body parts aren't moving that means the active skeleton doesn't include the nodes those body parts are weighted to.  You likely didn't install XPMSE correctly or you allowed another mod to overwrite it.  Since naked NPCs also exhibit this behavior, you need to look at reinstalling XPMSE.

This lady does some good videos. May be better than the 10-year old one you linked to.

Yes, Ciraeyna's tutorial videos are far better than 11 year old suggestions from Blabba.  While Blabba did contribute a lot in the early days Outfit Studio has matured greatly since then.  Citrus was also abandoned in an unfinished state because he got bored.  I would suggest you use more up to date tutorials and information.

Rather than simply saying that you followed someone's tutorials, perhaps you should repeat the steps you took and list them here and someone can point out where things went off the rails.

Other things you could do:

  • post the .nif files you meant to edit (the underwear mesh)
  • post the .nif files used by your character when nude (\meshes\actors\character\character assets\femalebody_1.nif)
  • provide a link to the outfit mod you edited
  • uninstall and then reinstall XPMSE taking note of which mods it overwrites
