Hello everyone,

I’m currently trying to set up a proper Fallout 3 modding environment on Steam, but I’m stuck with a FOSE issue.

• Game version: Fallout 3 GOTY (Steam) – default executable is version 1.7.0.4, size 16 MB.

• FOSE does not support 1.7.0.4 and requires version 1.7.0.3.

• Using the official downgrade patch from Silverlock changes the executable but results in a 14.3 MB file instead of the expected one.

• With this downgraded exe, FOSE technically launches, but the console command GetFOSEVersion only returns "1", without the proper full version string, and FOSE-related commands or mods fail.

I’ve tried every step I could find:

• Fresh Steam install on a clean drive.

• Downgrade using the official patcher from the FOSE site.

• Launching via fose_loader.exe as admin.

• No mods installed yet, only FOSE.

Nothing changes. FOSE won’t work properly and Command Extender cannot be tested because of this.

At this point, I’m asking for your advice:

• Has anyone successfully run FOSE on the Steam version of Fallout 3 with the proper 1.7.0.3 executable?

• If possible, could someone share a verified Fallout3.exe v1.7.0.3 (legal, no-crack, just the proper file from their own install) so I can test FOSE?

Goal: I want to set up FOSE + Command Extender, GECK, FO3Edit, FOMM, ArchiveInvalidation, etc., to create my own realism-focused mod packs for Fallout 3. This is not just for playing — I aim to mod and release my own content.

Je cherche à mettre en place un environnement de modding complet pour Fallout 3 sur Steam, mais je suis bloqué par un problème avec FOSE.

• Version du jeu : Fallout 3 GOTY (Steam) – l’exécutable de base est en version 1.7.0.4, taille 16 Mo.

• FOSE ne prend pas en charge la 1.7.0.4 et demande une version 1.7.0.3.

• En utilisant le patch officiel de downgrade sur le site de FOSE, l’exécutable est bien remplacé, mais il ne fait plus que 14,3 Mo au lieu de la taille attendue.

• Avec cet exe downgradé, FOSE se lance mais la commande console GetFOSEVersion renvoie seulement "1" au lieu de la version complète, et toutes les commandes ou mods nécessitant FOSE échouent.

Voici ce que j’ai déjà tenté :

• Installation neuve de Fallout 3 Steam sur un disque propre.

• Downgrade via le patch officiel FOSE.

• Aucun mod installé, uniquement FOSE.

Rien ne change. Impossible de faire fonctionner FOSE correctement, et donc de tester Command Extender.

Je cherche donc vos conseils :

• Quelqu’un a-t-il réussi à faire tourner FOSE sur Steam avec le bon Fallout3.exe v1.7.0.3 ?

• Si possible, quelqu’un pourrait-il partager un Fallout3.exe v1.7.0.3 vérifié (légal, pas un crack, juste le fichier issu de sa propre installation) pour que je puisse tester ?

Objectif : mettre en place FOSE + Command Extender, GECK, FO3Edit, FOMM, ArchiveInvalidation, etc., afin de créer mes propres packs de mods réalistes pour Fallout 3. Ce n’est pas juste pour jouer, mais bien pour modder et publier mes créations.
