I think afros would be rather difficult to do / emulate correctly. Afros have such a porous / aerated appeal that rendering it in a game would be a resource hog.

 

For example, look at this afro mod. Its' got the shape but doesn't have that depth / realism. 

 

or the hairline. someone described it as a ping pong ball. people that wear afros have a hairline, with corners at the forehead, like everyone else.

I belive that i have 1 afro hairstyle in from one of the apachii mods, and 1 dreadlocks hairstyle..
