anjenthedog Posted May 3, 2025 Posted May 3, 2025 I've had the "Loose-29" version installed as long as I can remember, (back to 1.5.80 I think), but I see Baka's V28b referenced here and there in armor/clothing recommended mod lists these days, so I'm questioning myself. Can someone give me a brief pro con about which version I should be running? My instinct has been "newer better" or "newer must have that stuff...too", but ... idk.
Taki17 Posted May 3, 2025 Posted May 3, 2025 This one, unless you most certainly really explicitly uncomprimisingly want to use SLA: 1

The whole point of OSL is backward compatibility. It supports the regular Aroused Redux as well as other arousal mods in one package. If you want new, that's the newest. 29 works. 28b modified by Baka has keyword support built into it. Nowadays you could make that with KID to distribute keywords with a simple config file. If you're not using mods requiring said keywords or other Baka edits then I don't see the point in using that over 29 or OSL. 1
anjenthedog Posted May 3, 2025 Author Posted May 3, 2025 (edited) "want" the newest isn't the goal, just saying that the (my and likely many others') automatic perception is "newer better". No big deal... just a case of mild confusion. (edit: I mean, after all, v29 loose has been around for years. It's not as if it's a "spring chicken") I'll install OSLA and see if it overwrites SLA without issue, thanks for the suggestion @Taki17 and advise @Just Don't Edited May 3, 2025 by anjenthedog
Just Don't Posted May 3, 2025 Posted May 3, 2025 1 hour ago, anjenthedog said: just saying that the (my and likely many others') automatic perception is "newer better" OSL moved a lot of its scripting into a DLL so it should be better for papyrus script load, but if script load isn't a concern for you then I don't see the point in switching from 29. OSL also has different types of arousal and you can switch between them via its MCM, but if you don't want to change the mechanics of it then again I don't see a reason to switch. I don't know what you have or want, but those are features that previous Aroused type of mods don't share, so up to you really. 1
anjenthedog Posted May 4, 2025 Author Posted May 4, 2025 (edited) I downloaded, installed, and set it to overwrite SLA (29). then disabled SLA. It seems to be working, but I still have to "put it through its paces" and do a Fallrim cleanup to clear the old SLA references/etc out of my working saves, and get used to the slight operational differences... Oh: PS> The reason I was interested in Baka's version (and this one apparently provides it too) is that they recognize the ~new clothing variants, whereas v29-loose is very "Skyrim 1.5.80" in its capabilities and does not. thanks again for the advise.
