It's because Karen has her mouth open in her battle sprites, revealing a red color, but has it closed in her VS face, so the red doesn't appear.

Though it does not really matter since the front sprite and VS Face share a palette in the code (at least in Platinum, and I don't see why it would change) so you can use the palettes from one to complete the other.

I scraped each trainer class's bulbapedia page for their Gen IV appearances, and then scraped the page for each of those locations for the sprite that trainer was listed with (which contains every instance that the trainer is battled, including their GSC appearances, or multiple battles with the same trainer). 

The result is under the "johto_all_trainers" tab in that sheet,

 

Then I just filtered it for HGSS appearances only in the "hgss_unique_trainers" tab.

And lastly just filtered for unique sprites in general, which is the main "hgss_unique_sprites" tab.

 

The result was...underwhelming? Kind of like... after all that back and forth, I didn't really find anything that wasn't already expected.

 

**I should note that I'm not confident that the list is exhaustive, nor if bulbapedia can even be trusted in instances where a trainer might use an alternate sprite for the same class. Nor that I know what the hell I'm talking about in the first place lol.

So basically the only ones that remain are:

• Camper
• Fisherman
• Guitarist
• Hiker
• Picnicker
• Pokéfan (male)
• Pokéfan (female)
• Policeman
• Psychic (male)
• Sailor
• Young Couple

Makes sense. All of those (except the couple) appeared in Crystal too.

That is annoying. The code stores the sprites for the opening in seven parts instead of all together.

In other news, Hairy Gold and Shaved Silver update 2 should come out tomorrow evening at the latest.

I just tried to use the existing palette for the sprite, it's easier on me and probably makes adding them to the game easier too.

This is a hard pose to get right for sure. Game Freak did not help in that department. Proton's sprite is just weird in general.

Proton is in there somewhere. I just know it.

He's blue, dabadee dabadie.

Now I just need to fit him into the right slots.

This is why edits of opening sprites must be kept to a minimum.

Silver's third sprite should have a different expression and different foot positions. It's not just a copy-paste of the first sprite with a different hand position. 

It's an easy mistake to make, though. They are very similar.

Also, the middle sprite is missing the pubic hair in the hairy gold version.

Erika seems to be the Dahlia of this game, in that she has a frame that needs to be edited on the big sprite sheet because it's a reversed version of a normal sprite.

I really hope that these sprites don't have the issues like the sprite below.

I can't find an 8x8 tile on the sheet, and I'm worried that it's just a solid color.

And I'm not sure if that can be fixed.

Heart Gold & Soul Silver Nude Mod Project update 2:

The Hairy Gold update.

 

Hello, all. This update to the HGSS project adds a bunch of sprites created by personmcguy, and ports the game to both Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

To recap: because some people wanted the characters to have pubic hair and others did not, we decided to split the games up so that Heart Gold sprites had hair (Hairy Gold) and Soul Silver sprites did not have hair (Shaved Silver).

I would be here all day if I listed all the sprites added.

The main additions of this update are the Johto exclusive sprites and the presence of a completed playable character: Ethan.

The only thing I may need to add for Ethan is the hall of fame sprite. I'll need to figure out how to add that again if it is not already in there.

Here are the progress documents.

The only item on the progress documents not in the game is the opening sprite for Proton, since I am still figuring out how the opening sprites work.

Fixed Silvers sprites

I understand the last two Erika sprites being pink but I think the first one looks perfectly fine. Also whats wrong with Karen's last sprite, Lyra's second to last backsprite, and the boy Psychic?

I tried to make Proton's shoulder a little more pronounced by switching the color

Also flattened Erika's back a little

And tried to make Karen's boobs look a little better

I also (for my own sake) tried to fix the arm shading on my Ethan backsprites

I am aware.

I still feel like your boob goes a bit too far up vertically, though.

I crave accuracy. But I may just be too much of a perfectionist on this. It looks good in your version.

I can add your boob back in in version 3. It'll be a minor update for sprites between update 2 and Wednesday, since that is when Morgil will be going out of town.

Forgive me if this has been answered already, but is there a specific ROM name I need to look for? I don't know if HGSS had different versions like Platinum did.
