Zor2k13 Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 According to youtubers... an official oblivion remake is coming out from beth and is rumored to be using oblivion engine for items and stats npcs etc and unreal engine for visuals and everything else. So I wonder if this game actually comes out, would it respond to ye olde oblivion mods? the meshes and textures would have to be ported of course to unreal we really don't know for sure though but the scripting and everything else would that work even partially?Â
travelmedic Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 As much as I'd love to see Oblivion getting a visual overhaul, I'm worried that existing mods just won't work for either a BGS remake or the Skyblivion remake (which looks incredible in their trailers).  Unfortunately, for some of the mods I'd most want to keep; using, I think the authors have long since moved on. For example, Oblivion just wouldn't be near so much fun for me without Vilja (the OG of custom followers mods) and Emma seems to have retired years ago. 1
Zor2k13 Posted March 27, 2025 Author Posted March 27, 2025 Yeah I mean if you want that content in skyblivion that is really the skyrim engine but the word is that this remake is going to still be using the oblivion engine which would send data to the unreal engine for rendering. I would assume that whatever version of the oblivion engine they use, it would be starting from the last patched version and then altered from there to work with unreal. They would have to keep the core things intact but some things would have to change. I'm guessing that scripting would only change slightly because they have to use the oblivion engine for the stats and data and scripts etc.  I'm hoping I can just pop in all or most of the dirty mods I got from here like player slave encounters and others to make the ultimate oblivion pron setup lol. Maybe this thing if it happens would bring some modders out of retirement who knows.
todd0 Posted April 15, 2025 Posted April 15, 2025 I imagine that porting would be possible, but no one should expect to just use a mod made for the old oblivion outta the gate unedited.

tda4 Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 When this comes out, I will also be (real retirement)... As for the mods, UE5 is a bad engine (demanding on the system). It would be better to have UE4. So, I don't think that anyone will be interested in doing work on the mod port, although UE has all the tools for mods.

Are you doubting the existence of the remake when theres photos of it from the Virtuous developers site AND references to it on bethesdas own website? Literally everything about the oblivion leaks has been accurate. The only thing left that from the leaks is the shadowdrop, but that will be true or debunked in less than a week.
It's probably less about whether the project as such exists - but about the fact that many announced projects unfortunately never made it to completion.

Perhaps you could share the links with these "references" you're talking about, because I don't see anything on bethesda.net about it. Startpage.com and duckduckgo.com searches of "oblivion remaster" and "oblivion remake" yielded no hits to pages on bethesda.net. Â Miauzi's link was for Skyblivion, not the Oblivion remaster, which is what you seem to be referring to. I would certainly think that at https://elderscrolls.bethesda.net/en/news something about it would be right up front, but I don't see anything about it. Â I don't doubt its existence. As I said in other posts, it's an "I'll believe it when I see it" situation. Felt the same way about Baldur's Gate 3 (and it did indeed eventually get released after innumerable delays). I feel the same way about VtM: Bloodlines 2.
Officially, it (the "remaster" of Oblivion) is supposed to be announced next week... only it has already been leaked - but NOT by "bugdesta" but by the company that is supposed to produce it

And in any event, the literal meaning of what you say is that it's supposed to be announced next week, not that it's supposed to be released next week.  It's no skin off my ass either way. If it's released in a week or 10 years from now, it's "whatever" as far as I am concerned. And I'm sticking with "I'll believe it when I see it." And I really doubt Skyblivion will ever see the light of day. Doing that much work for free (or rather, in the hope that it will at some point in the future lead to getting paid) sounds like a monumental chore.
Zor2k13 Posted April 17, 2025 Author Posted April 17, 2025 After the remake comes out and we get some updates on how it runs I'm probably gonna try dropping in simple old skool oblivion mods one at a time and see what happens. I know there is no need to use any texture or water mods but the porn mods would be funny if they worked. That one youtube guy MXR would probably be the first to show it heh!

lukiva Posted April 21, 2025 Posted April 21, 2025 bethesda is doing a video on thier youtube tomorrow

31971207 Posted April 22, 2025 Posted April 22, 2025 Does this mean Bethesda is finally dropping Creation Engine for TES6? Remember they remake Skyrim in reparation for the FO4 engine as well.  Can they make and release Creation Kit with UE5?

Look at Starfield's version of engine - it has f76 codebase with newest render techniques. This remake will be same as gta defective edition - unreal here is used purely for rendering.Â
skybird Posted April 22, 2025 Posted April 22, 2025 Its on steam now for 55 Euro. I wait and see if worth that and if moddable
