Just go to 'Makeup' in CAS and activate a hair from SonyaSims and you'll see...

Well now I'm even more confused, working perfectly fine for me. Both Eye-liner, face paint and blush.

@Dwjliel

And here the hair is either a broken glitchy mess or extremely short, besides that there should be no hair in 'Makeup'.

Plus, as in all my guides, big pictures belong in spoilers.

The hairs in makeups aren't hairs, they're colours/highlights as it were that get applied to the hairs found in hairs. The blocky effect in your left picture is what happens when I try to put a wrong styles "highlight/makeup" on a different styles hair base.  In my pic (hidden per your request :) ) If u can see the red X on the "hair"(makeup) bottom left, I chose that hair in hairs, and coloured it black.  Now in facepaints I chose the catalogue swatch of the same hair, and am able to add pink highlights (shown in pic). If I'd instead chosen the catalogue swatch with the orange background id get the blocky effect as it is for the wrong hair.

The reason the character on the right of your pic has no hair, I believe, is because you have not selected any hair. In hairs, choose that steampunk twin-tail  hair, then go back to eye-liners select the matching catalogue swatch and you'll see it allows you to colour the twin tails. In pic below, my base hair is back and in eye-liners I cloured the twin tails orangey.

Doesn't matter. I can still end up with broken hair...

Spoiler

Untitled.png.ee18985493f0c1a1adfd75ea061d56b5.png

And I'm not going to explain over and over again how to fix that... (already had similar experience in the other guides). Like writing that the users should not use an ESL as it caused issues and people then still downloading it and complaining that it didn't work. Nope, I'm not going this route again!

If people ignore instructions and complain, then I'll remove the mods that could result in that behavior.

Update

'Standard Game' to 1.5

Added 'Ponytails', 'Pigtails' and some other hair.

Removed the occult mods (those are in the addon now).

Integrated/recolored the mods that are required for my Sims.

Removed some redundant mods.

Reworked the body presets, so there's more variety of bodytypes (all should be covered now) and some too similar ones are gone.

With this update that part is finished. Unless i find more needed mods or bugs show up...

Updated my main char

With the change of the available hairs I also had to update hers.

The used t-shit vanished after an update from EA, this was also fixed.

General informations

Here I'll add some general informations you might find useful.

Age of mods

The game has been around for quite some years and it also has been updated quite often. Sadly this will impact the mods we're able to use. In general you can say that mods that were created before 2020 are now broken. Mods with scripts can break with every new update (looks like the newest Wicked Whims broke the clothing change of Wicked Perversions).

Same goes for textures. What was good before, can now look odd and/or out of date. Our memory is often enough playing tricks on us, so don't forget to take the rose-colored glasses off and recheck them once in a while.

We'll (aka Thorsten and I) try to stay on top of all of that, but no promises as we might still miss something. So if you notice something odd, please post the problem so we can try to work on it asap.

Groups

I can only strongly recommend to split the mods into separate groups. This will make it much easier for you to find a mod if there is a problem or you find something better and want to remove one.

  Reveal hidden contents

Animation

Well, this is just a place for improved animations. Nothing special here. But make sure to limit the number of animations as much as possible. They will impact the performance of the game!

Aspiration

New aspirations can improve the game. But be careful. They can get easily broken by an update.

Body

Textures and meshes for your Sim end up here. They are the foundation for your Sim.

Building

More things to build and buy. They will greatly enhance the houses you can build.

Career

Same as 'Aspiration'.

Extension

Big changes to the game. Added functions and stuff EA would never ever officially include in their games.

F. Clothing

Female clothing. Here you can go wild... I have no idea how many mods are there and you can easily get lost in all the available mods out there. Even if it is sometimes hard, try to only download the things you actually need for your Sims. In the end it doesn't help if you download a mod you're not going to use anyway. It is best if you have an idea what your creation is up to and then download accordingly.

F. Hair

Like clothing a group that got a gigantic number of available mods. The issue are the available options for the haircolor. Sometimes a combination works perfectly fine, sometimes they look off and/or don't give you the color option you need. I prefer to use the mods from 'SonyaSims' (neat hairs) and 'Hezeh' (wilder looking hair for sports and swimming). Atm i'm using five hairstyles for my Sim to reflect activity and weather.

Face

This group can be quite tricky. There are quite a few mods out there that improve the look. But if they are not from the same author they can (and usually will) clash with each other. Most of the mods i use come from 'Northern Siberian Winds'. Great textures, if you ignore the eyes, and they really work nice together. Further down i'll give you (later) a how-to for the creation of my Sim using his textures.

Fixes

Small mods that either fix bugs or improve parts of the game. What you pick is entirely up to you.

HQ Textures

Skip those for a weaker PC. But if you got enough horsepower get them. Its incredible how much they impove the game. The drawback is that you have to manually select parts you need.

Jewelry

Another rabbithole you can get lost in. I can only recommend to get the 'Crystal Creations Stuff Pack', with it you can craft your own jewelry. It will save you quite some time searching the net.

K. Clothing

Clothing for infants, toddlers and children.

Lighting

This is for finetuning the game. Most of it is handled via Reshade (Program / Presets).

Lot

This is only for the sheet as lots are handled via tray-files.

M. Clothing

Male clothing. Keeping them separate makes them a lot easier to find, as the folder for femaly Sims easily gets way too big. Unisex clothing mods also end up here.

M. Hair

This is another group to have a better overview. The former group 'hair' became too big to easily find something.

Override

Mods that change specific parts of the game. Remember that they can overwrite each other and cause issues when they conflict.

Shoes

There are 'a few' mods for shoes available. If you need more shoes then check Madlen first. He's a great source for those.

Slider

Important tools to improve the character creation in CAS.

Temp

I strongly recommend to add an extra folder to test mods. Some screenshots look nice, but can be quite diffferent from what expected.

Toys

Just some toys for grown-ups.

Traits

Additional traits for your Sims. What you pick is entirely up to you.

Predone Sims

Predone Sims can be really great and are relatively easy to install. But they do come with some drawbacks too.

Complete predone Sims include everything you need and are fast to install. But you have to sort the included mods to prevent overwrites. You do not want to have the same package in several locations of your drive. And there's also a possible problem with versions. You shouldn't overwrite a newer mod with an older file. Usually there's a reason why they got updated in the first place.

With 'loose' predone Sims you'll get the Sim and a list of mods you have to download yourself. This way you have it easier to sort them into the different groups. The big issue here is the possible use of older mods that are broken. They often enough might look fine in CAS but in game they become a black blur. And then finding the broken mod (it is usually the last one you could check), and having to restart the game over and over, is a real PITA.

What both do have in common is that they add so many mods just for a single character. In the end you have no real control about what is needed and you end up with options in CAS where you don't know exactly why they are even needed.

HQ or no HQ

This is something only you can decide. I've got a system that is quite good, so i can handle HQ. But I've also seen some users on Reddit that use older laptops for the Sims.

Although I do recommend using HQ textures (the difference is very noticable), ignore those recommendations if your system can't handle the load. After all, a game is supposed to be fun and choppy gameplay is no fun at all.

Security

Unsurprisingly some a..holes try to get you to install scripts that download viruses and other malware. To protect yourself you should install ModGuard by TwistedMexi. As always download new mods only from sites you know and trust. Skipping a mod is better (and takes a lot less time) than having to reinstall your system.

We (Thorsten is almost as paranoid as I am when we enter the net) will try our best to catch 'fishy mods' before they end up in our spreadsheet. But still, make sure you got a good AV software and install the mentioned mod too.

Modlist

The files contains a spreadsheet with links and additional informations. The SFW and NSFW mods are on separate spreadsheets so you can share them safely. Changes will be listed in the tab 'Updates' in case you want to update your game from an older version.

Standard Game (V. 1.5)

The file here is for the standard game and its non-occult expansions. The spreadsheet builds the foundation for the game with all the mods I regularly use. The 'Addons' go into a specific direction and can optionally be added to it.

Sims 4 Standard Game.7z 110.61 kB · 8 downloads

Girly Addon (V. 1.0)

Pink, cheeky pink, creamy pink, cyber pink, girly pink, playful pink... I think you get the idea of this addon. Clothing and furniture in, you guessed it, 'Pink'. Think of the the movie 'Barbie' (with even more pink). If it is for a girls room, or later for the highschool or university, this covers almost everything pink.

Sims 4 Girly Addon.7z 31.61 kB · 41 downloads

Goth Addon (V. 1.0)

This fashion style is hard to grasp as it has changed so much over time. Most think of it as just 'black clothing'. Nothing could be further from the truth. In the guide for the standard game are already mods that can be used for a 'Goth Sim', this here fills some gaps so you got more options.

Sims 4 Goth Addon.7z 41.9 kB · 32 downloads

NSFW Addon (V. 1.1)

This here will contain two optional paths for NSFW mods. But remember that they are not compatible and you have to decide which one you are going to use in your game. 'Wicked Whims' is the commonly used path that offers quite a few add-ons. 'Devious Desires' on the other hand goes more into a 'darker' direction and includes things not allowed in 'Wicked Whims'.

Sims 4 NSFW Addon.7z 31.44 kB · 82 downloads

Occult Addon (V. 1.0)

Faeries, Magic, Mermaids, Vampires, Werewolves and Witches. In this addon you'll find mods for an enhanced magical or occult experience. I leave it up to you if you want to include the supernatural.

Sims 4 Occult Addon.7z 41.12 kB · 14 downloads

Steampunk Addon (V. 1.0)

Leather, silk and ruffles - shining brass, polished wood and clockworks. Zeppelins and the elegance and style of the victorian age. Think of Jule Vernes '20000 leagues under the sea' and the works of H. G. Wells. Then you got a good idea in what direction the mods go.

Sims 4 Steampunk Addon.7z 45.03 kB · 12 downloads

Works well with 'Life & Death', 'Realms of Magic' and 'Vampires'.

J'ajoute simplement ' .off ' derrière le flename.

Donc, changer ' * .package ' en ' * .package.off ' éteindra complètement ce package spécifique.

Bonjour

Good morning
I would like to point out to you this small .bat file created by Andirz which deletes the files necessary for the proper functioning of the Sims 4.
Read what it does on the file page.
I use it constantly every time I add a file or folder to mods.
PLEASE NOTE it is installed in the “Sims 4” folder and not in mods.
You can attach it to the Sims 4 Standard Game V1.6 document
