Too many body mods - totally lost...

Hi,

I've decided to restart Skyrim recently and I thought I'd play with one of those beautiful female chars we see on every mod's description screens.  :P

However, after some research I found out there were loads of different replacers, unlike that single "better bodies" mod of Morrowind x.x

Which of those would be the most generally used and most compatible replacer out there?

Are bodies and faces modified seperately,or is there some king of beauty package?

Or at least,a guide on the available mods out there that can help me choose?

Thanks.

Estorm, CBBEv3 is probably the most compatible with the most mods, but it's also one of the oldest.  It's the best to "start" with if you are a beginner, until you get your feet wet and get more comfortable.   UNPB has become more popular, and the newest armors and mods tend to support UNPB more.  And then there's a half-dozen more specialized ones.

I am releasing my 2nd body mod in 2 days with 16 armor conversions, more conversions will come time to time, Check it out. The link is in my SIG  :shy:

UNP or UNPB has the most balanced preset with the most armor support.

However, if you learn your way around bodyslide, then CBBE(++) becomes the better one due to high customizability and the ability to fit any armor to your bodyshape easily.  CBBE++ with bodyslide can actually mimic any other body including UNP.

not to mention the CBB outfit studio that's in development is an amazing tool that allows easy conversions and weight painting (still a heavy learning curve) that will allow the customization of any body mod.

Only thing you have to watch is compatibility between body textures. Many of the bodies are not quite compatible with others and you have gaps in the body mesh at the hips, CBBE vs UNP is one of the major ones. Most of the other bodies are based off of either of those but some are completely custom so unless the armor covers the pelvis region completely you will see the gaps.

Just a couple of additional thoughts since I just went through much the same thing.

It depends what kind of character you're playing. Because that determines the armor/clothing sets  you will choose. And the armor/clothing sets determine the body model. Do you want jiggle or not? [bBP, TBBP} Again, that determines the a/c sets available and the body model choices. Lore, immersion etc. all determine the a/c sets you choose and they determine the body model. See the pattern?

The upside is; it's usually easy to change in-game, once you know what to do.

There's a thread, here on LL, called "Beautiful women and how to make them." People post pix of their chars and tell what mods they used.  http://www.loverslab.com/topic/8169-beautiful-women-and-how-to-make-them/

UNP (more slender 'realistic' body) and CBBE (curvier bigger chest) are your 2 main body replacers. There is an abundance of gear for each, and several full vanilla replacers to cover pretty much every piece of clothing for them.

The rest are more specialized, basically for 'enthusiast' skyrim modders, though with work and not just using nexus you can get tons of stuff for them + most vanilla gear replaced.

I use UNPB and pretty much everything is replaced/compatible, but there are some mods with no unpb meshes like art of magicka and unp merchants (which if you use unp combines about 20 different armor/clothing sets into one, and adds a place to buy and craft it all).

Personally I love UNPB-BBP, though when petro's dreamgirl body gets more stuff for it, it'll also be a serious contender.

Basically, if you are just starting out, unp and cbbe are the simplest. IMO unp has more/better gear and the unp merchant makes access to tons of user created gear effortless. I'd start there.

Don't forget ECE for faces and a good texture mod like SG/matureskin/barbarian.

"There can be only one" Dream Girl for me, hands down my favorite. There's enough dedicated Dream Girl armor and clothing and all unp conversions work if you wear gauntlets/gloves and boots with them. What it does for me, and this is subjective for sure, is it smooths my gameplay. The animations appear quicker, the body moves more fluidly and the game while giving a good fps seems smoother and less laggy overall. I've tried them all, and I suggest and know you will too because quite frankly it's fun. In the end I chose DG to play with because of the above. Last but not least, the deformations. DG has literally no or very little deformation in hips, arms, shoulders, elbows and knees when bending and contorting. It's a God Damn miracle for screen archers :)

While I agree that DG is a pretty well-made body, especially the weight painting, it doesn't make much sense to use UNP armors because then you're basically using UNP as long as you aren't naked and what's the point in using a certain body type when you'll barely see it?

It may just be me but that's also why I don't get the reason for a bodychanger besides fooling around in the game. If I create a female character (for roleplaying purposes or screenshots) I got a certain image in mind on what kind of character she is and adjust the body accordingly so switching from normally sized breasts and an athletic build to huge T&A in the middle of whiterun doesn't exactly make much sense.

Well you do see it , when you're not wearing armor, and when you're using the many custom fitted armors made for DG which make it unnecessary tp use others. In fact, almost all armor which covers the body does not show or even use the actual body outside of some textures which DO show the DG set when the DG body is used. My point was, that if there was a certain armor you had to have, a unp conversion would work, and work well.

Frankly, There's more than enough custom DG armor/cloths for my main character and any followers I might want, the rest of the NPCs can wear UNP/CBBE/whatever for all it matters. Hence the plethora of armors/clothing which do not state the body they're made for ... because the armor IS the body and a custom-nude body makes absolutely no difference when worn.

Lastly, you avoided my main reasons for using it whilst trying to give reasons why you shouldn't. The fact it deforms better than any model and animates so much better and effects my game in a very positive way. To each his own :)

No I didn't avoid it. The weighting is indeed amazing but it's also completely lost when using armors for other body mods.

I'd say try either CBBE or UNP/UNPB. Both are pretty popular and pretty much all armor/outfit mods support one or both of them. Personally I ran with CBBE from the start due to Bodyslide and Bodyslide-compatible armors. At the end of the day both are good and widely supported by modders. This poll here should give you a good idea of what most people use. http://www.loverslab.com/topic/21228-favorite-body-replacer-v2/ Nothing is stopping you from trying out others but just remember that it limits your armor mod selection.

As for faces, look Pretty Face, Envision and Univision, though some of them produce doll-like faces.

There is zero need to pick your body based on armor selection your going to be compromising on one front or another unless you convert your own stuffs. DG has the best weighting hands down and is more or less the same overall shape as unp. CBBE has the widest customization. UNP in all its forms has a wide selection of clothing and armor. LB has some very nicely done daz/poser ports which don't get converted to other bodies which I assume is due to Krista's no port policy a bit hypocritical no? The only reason people tend to only use only one body type is skin texture compatibility which can be fixed with bodychange from the nexus. So just pick the body with the most appealing looks and movement and roll bodychange for the armors you can't live without to fix texture issues. Oh and I'm assuming your asking this for your own character and not npc cuz that changes things a bit.

I've ttried every body CBBE, ADEC ,CHSBHC, Manga etc.

My advice: Take a UNP - based body.

There are most of armor.

And what is even more important:

There are many variations of it, are very different but all are compatible in terms of textures.

For Example Sevenbase is a UNP-Body: here are 83 Armors -> http://www.loverslab.com/topic/20917-sevenbase-conversions-bombshellcleavage-with-bbp/

and here 79 Armors: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/10341-conversions-for-unpb-with-bbp/

The Picture in my profile is also UNPB.
