Since you're good with UI mods, I might as well ask you directly @IncogACC

I wanted to try to make a mod to change the characters icons, but while hunting for their hashes it appeared to me that it might be really complicated to do so.
The icons I want to replace are those on the right of the screen showing your 3 characters when playing, both in alive and dead state, as well as those displayed in quick team formation when you're allowed to selected 3 characters to build a team marking them with 1, 2 and 3 symbols. Like @Nom-Nom did in his kitsune wife mod.

While hunting for the dead icons hashes has been really consistant, kill the character, frame dump, get hash, getting those of alive character seems to be really random.
Dump framing in the open world never returns the icons. Doing so in the various menus where you can see these icons, give you a few of them, at random.
Worse the more you frame dump, the less icons you get out of it (5 being the most i managed to obtain in a single dump), until you get none at all. After what restarting the game seems to be the only solution to get them again. I noticed at some point that among the files dumped, there is a board concentrating the different icons. I then checked it regularly and notice the solo icons i was able to obtain where never drawn on the board, and once they were, i was unable to get them again without restarting.

This makes me wonder, does the game initially calls individual icons with individual hashes, before merging them on a single board with its own hash, that varies not only depending on the number of icons merged on it, but also on the combination of said icons ?

I'll join a .txt files with all the hashes i was able to collect, and a screen of said board,

Why she had to be split into 4 different fucking mods is beyond me, but the result is absolute misery whenever I have to do draw call reconstruction, 'cus I often have to repeat the exact same sodding process multiple times, if I have to do a texture edit then I have to edit ALL of the textures, it's just SO time consuming, like I was working on this mod for nearly 3 hours and I can't use all of my usual tricks because of the split between character screen and overworld, it's just such a pain.

* Straps require either the corset or the panties to be on

I also had to make a pretty big compromise for overworld. This mod wasn't supposed to be nudified like this, so there's a broken seam where the top and bottom halves of the body join, broken enough that it includes a hole, so to compensate I had to force a small amount of the corset to always stay active in order to cover the seam, that's just how it is.

Still, for all my bitching and whining, it did turn out pretty decent.

I left that in on purpose to cover the broken part where the upper and lower half of the body meet. It's better this way, trust me.

Icons are handled via dynamic atlas'.

Dynamic Atlas' are a unique kind of texture atlas that changes its hash, VB, UVs and pixel by pixel contents in real time according to whatever is on screen, so when you frame dump you only get a snapshot of what the dynamic hash looks like on a given frame, rather than the "true" hash because there isn't one.

Rather than assigning a UI asset to a stable resource, this approach takes a large number of resources and will selectively assign them to a single asset in order to reduce memory overhead, which is nice for performance but completely kills the viability of modding it under normal means.

That's not to say it's strictly impossible, if something is drawn on screen then data will exist somewhere within the CBs that can potentially be tracked and used to identify characters consistently, then a custom shader can be used to draw over the top of the existing icons because positionally the character icons are static, similar to how my portrait mod works but with the considerably harder step of being able to detect the right character without a hash.

Funnily enough back when I was first developing the portrait mod, that kind of shader based detection was something I actually experimented with and got pretty decent results, so it might not be that hard to do, but that's assuming a lot of things and either way it'd be a pretty hard dev task.

Ultimately, I'd advise giving up on trying to mod anything that's contained within the dynamic atlas, it's well beyond what anyone has attempted and the only people who are smart enough to potentially solve it (tool devs) have far more important things to do with their time. I might give it a crack in the future if it keeps gnawing at me, but it's definitely not on my priority list right now.

I don't know what mod that is without seeing a picture, maybe you can find it on Hui or kekehxl

Alright, that's what i feared. I guess I'll give up on doing that then.
I had icons ready for each characters that I had generated along with the portraits.
I'll keep them aside in case I'm able to use them someday but i won't keep my hope high.

Thanks for your answer.

Not nearly as much of a pain as the last one, but still quite a process.

I'll address the obvious thing right away, yeah the modder didn't handle the clothing meshes all to well and so there's a LOT of clipping on this mod, nothing I can do about that, otherwise it turned out pretty well. I do have 2 more Zani mods in my folder to process, but no idea if I'll be modifying them or not, I hope not because I've had about enough Zani modding for the next 5 years.

I was actually smart with the textures, keeping a base copy so "nipple texture sticking out" wasn't the default state, I really need to go back and do that to that one Iuno mod...

A doozy of a mod this time.

I wasn't into it initially, the proportions weren't my style and the neon pink necktie certainly wasn't helping, but once I finished the draw call reconstruction it had grown on me. I really like the way the toggles came out, it feels criminal that there weren't toggles to begin with and hell, the nipple textures were already in place, it's like they intended to add toggles and just forgot to post it or something.

Either way, the somewhat rare feeling that the near 2 hours of effort sunk into splitting 1 draw call into 56 parts was actually worth it, very happy with this one.

** The belt is needed for other parts, so it'll be forced on until those other parts are all removed, then you can toggle it freely.

Not my cup of tea personally but it was there so I did it.

Another one where the texture work was also already done for me, there were toggles for this mod, just not all the way, granted all of this modding work over the past few days has blended together and I don't even remember where I got this or who's mod this even is, so maybe there's a paid version I just cracked unknowingly or something, I don't know or care frankly.

This "mod spam" of mine was the result of me going through the entirety of kekehxl so it's not like I'm just going to keep posting modified mods forever and ever and ever, just until I finish going through this backlog, there's still 22 mods left to process.

To be clear, that doesn't mean I'm uploading 22 more modified mods, just 22 more mods for me to look at for modification potential, either way the train doesn't stop until I'm done.

I'm in a timeloop, either that or purgatory which feels WAY more accurate, 'cus I SWEAR I've done this mod before, but it's not in my folder and I can't see it when I search around various sites and this very forum, am I losing my mind? I mean this is the 8th mod in 2 days so probably, I listened to Heart of Lahai-Roi for the first time since the quest just now and nearly cried so my mental is probably about to break, but hey! More mods!...

This feels like ABSOLUTE overkill, like who the fuck needs 8 toggles for this little clothing, but the nude body was just there waiting to be freed, like I HAD to do it, I'm morally obligated to.

Last one for today because if I do anymore I am going to crazy.

I think this is a really old mod that got deleted when the author kinda just... disappeared from WuWa GB. I don't know if this guy had a paid service, if there was a "complete" version of this mod with toggles, if that "theoretical toggle version" was spread around or not, or if anyone even cares, I did what I do.

does anyone have aemeath, chisa, shorekeeper mods from yyzj?

I can't be bothered to dig up the individual posts, but I rewrote all of them and hosted on my google drive, you can find them in their respective character folders.

Alternatively, you can get the originals from Huihui, Shorekeeper, Aemeath, Chisa.
