anjenthedog Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 (edited) Yesterday, while hunting around for un-used or under-used mods to purge for their plugin slots, I accidentally found myself in the 'dark recesses' of some of the first mods I installed, way back in march of 2019. Apachii Sky Hair Female 1.5 and Apachii Sky Hair Male 1.2 are two of them. Moreover, they appear to be LE mods (auto-links provided by the installs in Vortex point to Nexus/skyrim/), rather than SE mods. If I have Apachii Sky Hair "Full Optimized" (1.6), do I even need them? I'm failing to recall any good reason to have either installed. Maybe they were required for some intermediate version of the SE Apachii Sky Hair, like at least some LE mods are required for some SE mod installs? Hoping someone can fill that memory gap before I "leap before I look". thanks Oh. PS> Skyrim 1.5.97 "native" environment (not downgrade) Edited May 9, 2024 by anjenthedog
Grey Cloud Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 I know this is Skyrim but logic would suggest that 1.6. would supersede 1.5 and 1.2 and that 'Full' means female and male combined. Is anyone or anything still using Apachii these days? I've certainly not needed it since starting this SE build. Even the followers I've ported from LE haven't asked for Apachii. Try disabling the male and female versions in Vortex and look for anything complaining about missing masters. Then run around in game looking for anyone wearing a pink crash helmet. Do the same with the Full version. 1

Literally the only reason I even have it. Bimbos of Skyrim and Immersive Fashion also relay on it for full functionality but does not require it. 1
anjenthedog Posted May 13, 2024 Author Posted May 13, 2024 (edited) Well, it affects ~~~something~~~, because once I disabled them, my default head model became a potato head (for lack of a better description...bloated with bug eyes might be more all encompassing), and sadly, enough, even after reenabling, the head models when I try to apply most Racemenu presets are screwed up. And one of my characters (at least) can't set hair type in Racemenu anymore either (haven't gambled with any other player instances yet). I normally have her set with wildchild, now it looks like a very truncated bob. Edited May 13, 2024 by anjenthedog

anjenthedog Posted May 16, 2024 Author Posted May 16, 2024 Yes. Any ideas for solution? plugin load order is the same, mod load order is the same, not sure why Vortex would be at fault, but I'll bite.
traison Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 1 hour ago, anjenthedog said: not sure why Vortex would be at fault I have yet to see it not mess up a large load order change. I know its not that bleak obviously but as I see it there's 2 options: It actually can't do large load order changes without messing something up: Linking to the wrong file (ignoring the load order) or leaving files behind. The people using it are missing something and this is all user error. Could be a UI thing if its not making relevant information available. Since it's using NTFS hardlinks you can relatively easily do a sanity check on it. So, if you can locate the head mesh causing issues, you can go to your Skyrim data directory and compare the files there to the ones Vortex is telling you should be there. If you find discrepancies then, well, option #1 above starts looking plausible. Maybe a screenshot of mr/mrs potatohead?
anjenthedog Posted May 18, 2024 Author Posted May 18, 2024 (edited) Ok, I'm a dumbass. I forgot that the player instance involved is a Fairie race preset applied to a custom (fairie race) head model. When I applied other Racemenu presets to that instance, I failed to register that unlike my main player instance (nord) and the mainstay of the presets I have (nord or otherwise compatible), I can't just apply a preset without considering author's intended race. sorry for the bother.
