Just Don't Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 Verify the version of SL you're trying to use matches your executable version (go to wherever you have your game installed right click SkyrimSE.exe and check the product version in the Details tab). Your SKSE and any other requirements like Address Library must match and be correctly installed too. Once you do that use FNIS/Nemesis/Pandora to update your animations. Then go in game and install SL from the MCM.
Glass Swan Posted April 30, 2024 Posted April 30, 2024 Same problem here. Then it was fine again but Simple Slavery wasn't found, then I added Simple Slavery Rebuild to Simple Slavery, which remedied that problem but brought back this one. Holy cow, this is hard work. I saw in another thread "run FNIS." Uh-huh. FNIS is what? An executable? A script? A part of Mod Manager? I swear some of these things say they depend on each other. Edit: Hey! I found FNIS! It *is* part of Mod Manager. There's a jigsaw-looking icon, which is the tools icon for some reason, and one of the things under it is FNIS, and that has an option to run FNIS, which apparently overwrites an existing mod with ... something, so I guess now I need to make my own mod just to have something for FNIS to overwrite. Why is this hard?

As far as I know this issue has nothing to do with SImple Slavery or other mods. You simply need to use the matching version of all of SL requirements. I guess you were missing some Simple Slavery files or something, on top of your initial SL issue. 2 hours ago, Glass Swan said: I saw in another thread "run FNIS." Uh-huh. FNIS is what? No. FNIS is an external program created to handle additional animations. You must install it and run it to generate new behavior files so the game can play new animations from different mods (like SL). A simple google search or a mod search in the nexusmods site would take you to the mod page where there's plenty of instructions and directions to other guides. Nowadays you can find step by step videos for any mod manager + FNIS and it's less than 5 mins of downloading, installing, following the video and using it. 2 hours ago, Glass Swan said: Why is this hard? Skyrim is an old game. With thousands of mods. We're kind of used to already know how to use most programs and most of us already know or have installed most of the common requirements so using new mods or trying already existing mods is an easy task. I understand it can be a daunting task for someone new. But still, the information is out there, mods have descriptions and the most known and core mods/programs usually have videos showcasing features, install process and usage. From your comment I assume you're using MO2, I happen to have a guide specifically to get SL working on a new SE game using MO2 (orange link in my signature, also in some pinned comments in the Skyrim SE forum section). There are other guides that go beyond teaching the basics and like I said, it's all out there for everyone to check and learn. Edited April 30, 2024 by Just Don't
Glass Swan Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Today's fascinating new issue: suddenly instead of DD being "43" instead of "44," loads of _other_ mods are "43" instead of "44." This is getting like evo-devo.
Glass Swan Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 A lot of mods have numbered directories in them: Should that be unpacked straight into Data, or do they need to be individually unpacked into Data? They look like they should be individually unpacked.

Google "skyrim special edition form 43 44" and read for a while. TL;DR: it's mostly harmless and you shouldn't need to worry about it as long as you're getting mods properly ported for SE. And yeah the folder you're showing is a FOMOD installer. You should keep the zipped file and install it with your mod manager. You're discovering a lot of stuff that most users have gone through already, a quick google search should answer most doubts. Or following dedicated guides. But you do you.
Glass Swan Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 I'd love to not worry about it, but skse_64_loader freaks out about it. "Install it with your mod manager" sounds great. It also sounds like "Reverse the tachyon flux of the Klystron generator." I've tried the google thing. I get links to mods that don't exist any more and a few fifteen-minute-long videos about how to create a new folder on my desktop. Well, installing some *new* stuff with the mod manager made the in-game management menus for the *old* stuff start working, but broke the animations on the existing saves and completely wrecked the new game. Two empty carts piled up against a closed gate, with one gagged head sticking up out of the seat of the second one? Sexy.

No. Form 43/44 is a plugin thing (ESM, ESL, ESP file formats). SKSE would complain if there are incompatible SKSE plugins (DLL files). If that's the case you should see a message telling you which plugins are failing to load. Nothing to do with form 43/44. 11 minutes ago, Glass Swan said: "Install it with your mod manager" sounds great. It also sounds like "Reverse the tachyon flux of the Klystron generator." In your mod manager, again I assume you're on MO2, there is an "install mod" button. Very easy to find in the top bar. You press it and select the zipped file you download. From there you follow the usual install process. That's how you install a manually downloaded mod with your mod manager. 13 minutes ago, Glass Swan said: I've tried the google thing. Then find guides to teach you how to do X. Not to get links to old mods or start watching 15 min videos with no context. 15 minutes ago, Glass Swan said: Well, installing some *new* stuff with the mod manager made the in-game management menus for the *old* stuff start working, but broke the animations on the existing saves and completely wrecked the new game. It's not going to get better if you repeat the same mistakes and keep pushing forwards without understanding the basics. But truly, you do you. Best of lucks.

You have already been given the advice you need - read and watch tutorials and guides. There is no one-click solution.

That was actual information. I thank you for that! Mod Organiser can install straight from multiple kinds of archive file. That was news. That ought to be made a little more obvious. Of course, it still says Simple Slavery is the incompatible one, FNIS still says Devious Followers is the incompatible one, SKSE64_launcher still says Devious Devices is the incompatible one, saved games still don't animate anything and new game still spawns everyone under the seat of the second wagon, so I'm still stuck, but it's good to know that MO can unpack archives directly. Now to play "hunt the clusterfuck" to try to get the game to actually work. Feels almost like the base game was made by Bethesda, doesn't it?
Just Don't Posted May 2, 2024 Posted May 2, 2024 5 hours ago, Glass Swan said: it still says Simple Slavery is the incompatible one Where are you seeing this. Where did you get your Simple Slavery files from? Note that there are several versions of that mod at different stages of development and not all of them are compatible with SE. 5 hours ago, Glass Swan said: FNIS still says Devious Followers is the incompatible one This means the animation files from that mod aren't compatible with SE. So you're not using a properly ported version of the mod. 5 hours ago, Glass Swan said: SKSE64_launcher still says Devious Devices is the incompatible one And your DD is also not the one for SE, or you have an outdated version. You can save yourself a lot of time by checking the available resources to track ports and SE mods in general (these are pinned threads in the Special Edition sections of the forum. Also linked in several guides as resources to check for available mods. 5 hours ago, Glass Swan said: saved games still don't animate anything and new game still spawns everyone under the seat of the second wagon Your animations are broken and it will stay that way until you get rid of all your incompatible mod with animations (like the ones FNIS is warning you about) and use FNIS again, yielding no error or warning lines. The intro sequence can break for several reasons and trying to complete it with incompatible mods or broken animations is a waste of time.

Confirmed that by deleting Data folder, reinstalling base game and not selecting DD or any of its dependencies. Everything I've tried so far seems to be working, but I'm not even at Whiterun yet so there's plenty of time for stuff to Just Not Be There.
Glass Swan Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 Everything working fine. Save game. Shut down. Sleep. Get up. Boot. Load game. Animations all broken again. Run FNIS. FNIS: "7 warnings." The FNIS output log: Reading FNISBase V7.6 ... Reading BeingADoggy_huan V?.? ... Reading DarkDesiresCircleOfLust V5 ... >>Warning: \character\behaviors\FNIS_DD_Behavior.hkx not Skyrim SE compatible<< Reading DD V4.0.0 ... >>Warning: \character\behaviors\FNIS_DD2_Behavior.hkx not Skyrim SE compatible<< Reading DD2 V4.0.0 ... >>Warning: \character\behaviors\FNIS_DD3_Behavior.hkx not Skyrim SE compatible<< Reading DD3 V4.1.0 ... >>Warning: \character\behaviors\FNIS_DDC_Behavior.hkx not Skyrim SE compatible<< Reading DDC V1.2 ... >>Warning: \character\behaviors\FNIS_DDSL_Behavior.hkx not Skyrim SE compatible<< Reading DDSL V4.0.0 ... >>Warning: \character\behaviors\FNIS_DeviousFollowers_Behavior.hkx not Skyrim SE compatible<< Reading DeviousFollowers V1.00 ... Reading Deviously Cursed Loot V9.0 ... Apart from "Where the hell did Being A Doggy get into this?" I have to wonder where the seventh warning is. Ugh. One of those mods said it needed DD - Expansion and DD - Assets. The page here for "DD - Expansion" says don't use it! Use linked mod instead, which is DD, so I downloaded that, and it turned out to be DD - Assets in disguise. Another has a list of mods that it needs that I had to find by just guesswork and trial and error. I think it'd help to have the filename in the mod's about page and first page of the topic. I'm not imagining it, though, am I? That *is* only six warnings?
Glass Swan Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 (edited) Loot failed to run Errors: Cyclic interaction detected: ELE_SSE.esp --[Master]-> Immersive Citizens - ELE patch.esp --[Masterlist Group]-> ELFX - Hardcore.esp --[Master]-> Immersive Citizens - ELFXHardcore patch.esp --[Masterlist Group]-> ELE_SSE.esp Great. MO says I can use SSECK to turn type 43 into type 44. Uh-huh. All I've got to do is open the mod in the CK and save it again, apparently. More Googling, because having a frickin' OPEN button would be too easy: you have to open the CK from within MO? Now somehow I have over 20 files that are type 43. Is being type 43 infectious? The good news is that I made it work for two mods. The bad news is that it refuses to open the others because they requires multiple masters and it refuses to open multiple master files. The other bad news: Edited May 7, 2024 by Glass Swan New day, new problems.
Glass Swan Posted May 9, 2024 Posted May 9, 2024 For anyone who's found this thread and was hoping to see a solution, well, here, this works: ... but the Utility Mod seems to cause CTD on "load" or "new" and anything with "Devious" or "Unforgiving" in the name is fucked. Bannered Mare Playground has worked in the past, and may well work with that set, but is currently not selected. The "SOSPhysicsManager" one is part of a thing that has to be installed for another thing to work, but does not itself have to be active.
