Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 any suggestions on what I should do so I can use this ENB without getting 99% VRAM usage when my VRAM is under the max? You can't. GrimReaperCalls Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Alright, then the VRAM usage is completely ruled out, lol. Here is my load order too, I also have many texture mods which don't appear in my load order. Try disabling "SMIM". Shouldn't really be a problem, but I had a few issues with crashes when I started using ENBs recently (think it might've been an issue with the Anisotropic Filtering), they're working fine now though. I don't think playing with "Dat Grass" for normal gameplay is a good idea, it's very heavy. I'm not sure how well Audio Overhaul for Skyrim works with Icebreaker's Improved Reverb, they both do reverb. I'd also suggest using the compatibility patches for AOS + CoT/SkyRe/Improved Combat Sounds etc. It'd be faster to just disable AOS first and see if it works. Try disabling the Whiterun mods (even though you had the problem with Riften as well) like Whiterun fortified/Whiterun revision. Try disabling Crowded cities, if it does what I think it does the extra amount of NPCs could be giving your game a hard time. I'm not sure how the Footprints mod works, but if it has to run checks on every single NPC in the vicinity I wouldn't recommend using it with lots of NPCs. I'm not certain about any of these things, it's just a few that I think could be causing the problems.
Lodakai Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I ran into the same problem. Are you using high quality map and textures? Are you using skyrim flora overhaul? Removing these could help with your problem. They fixed mine. -- Try the map first. I could still use flora overhaul.. I simply removed it to help with my CTD's near whiterun. The whiterun area has ALOT of stuff it needs to load. -- Check this http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1029363-infinite-load-screen/ the second post by prod80 is particularly helpful
Uriel Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I don't get it. Why is it so bad to have high VRAM usage? It just means you get everything possible from your rig. Also, if you're going to use ENBoost, don't run "Texture Optimizer" stuff as ENBoost dynamically compresses textures on the fly. That's what Boris himself adviced. ILS/CTD's are just a Skyrim's "feature". No one knows what causes them.

Guest Spikes Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I think you should pick 1 water mod between WATER and Pure Waters
ettorg Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 maybe it helps: ballsy, on 23 Oct 2013 - 03:05 AM, said: Crimson Tide is outdated, and has reported lots of CTDs, issues, whatever for a long time now. but you have lots of mods (you really use all these hairs mods?), see what you really want/need, and clean your LOAD order
Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 This game is going to drive me insane - I went back through and manually removed most of the mods you guys suggested, none really worked, so I decided that I would just disable everything and go back through and add one by one to test which ones would cause a CTD. I have no been through everyone but the loading is extremely inconsistent, not to mention that alot of my necessary mods (like character extender) spin my game into infinite loading. I am not sure what I am going to do, I took most of your guys' advice, chose one water mod, disabled the sounds mods, got rid of all the hairs that I didn't need, and even tried using different texture optimizers ext.
ettorg Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 i had problems a few time ago, i uninstalled the game, deleted the skyrim folder, the ini and the prefs files, re-installed, added mods one by one, checked each time : -the data folder (i use nmm... (most of the time)i deleted read me files, pics....everything unecessary). -if it worked well ingame (interiors, exteriors, fight, autosave....a bit of everything i think). i lost my 130h savegame, but it worked for me. If you don't know what to do, you can try this ps : i have a 9600gt (512 vram) and i don't have infinite load screen, i disabled shadows, optimized textures (textures.bsa on max setting), i can run an enb (i found a config, yes ^^), i have ctd's, but it's normal with my computer i guess good luck!
Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted October 25, 2013 Author Posted October 25, 2013 Thanks ettorg, luckily I played for a solid 40 minutes without a CTD, I was elated, unfortunately I get infinite loading screens in towns still, haha. I will find a solution soon, hopefully.
Guest Spikes Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Do you use the same save when you disable mods? If yes, that's a nono, mods add many scripts that if you remove said mods they'll still work and look for those mods messing your save. In oblivion you could disable mods and scripts would stop, skyrim once you add a script mod, chances are you'll have some left. Do a new game save, with the most needed mods only, no Loverslab mods or many hair etc, and see how it goes. Arthmoor himself said save cleaner shouldn't be used ever. If you use it, do a backup first, but tbh if you really really need it in like 10 hours then chances is your save gone bad.
D_ManXX2 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Vram can cause 2 things. 1: when entering a cell and the screen keeps loading without hardrive working you know this is a vram issue. 2: while being out in the open and start running. it has to render many things at once. if you crash to desktop without warning then this too is vram issue. You just run out of memory so boom out of the game you go. btw do not mistake vram for freezes or other errors. the only 2 things where vram is issue. is the above 2 points. any other error is something else causing it. Also many save games can also cause the dreaded infinite loading. But that is also vram issue because it needs to load every single one of them in memory and it runs out of it before the game is loaded.
Guest Spikes Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Oh yah good call. After like 40 saves, copy them to an other folder, keeping 1-2 last ones. Repeat after 40. 40 is just a random number, works for me though.
Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Thank you for the continued support on this thread, I would like the discussion to continue on this thread, for anyone else who may be having this issue. I feel that this is a could place for not only me, but other to read and solve there problems. Any other suggestions? Currently my game is somewhat stable while exploring, but towns are nearly inaccessible. I will update my load order as I have changed alot to mess with optimization. I started a clean save and am going from here. Also, my main issue is infinite loading screens and random freezing while exploring on some occasions.
Guest Spikes Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Well, i feel you have too many mods, specially scripted heavy ones and many mods that change the same things and maybe overlap. An empiric rule i follow is use 1 mod/per thing i want to change. Ex. only 1 mod for water, only 1 mod for combat changes (okey sometimes 2..), 1 mod for music overhaul etc. From the mod list you have on first post i'd try to have a new game save without these, to test stability : Some hunter mods (i feel you have too many), some hair mods (can always install more when you feel like it, if they are just textures/meshes they can probably be instal/uninstalled without causing problems anyways) most of city enhancement mods, some game overhaul mods (unless you're sure they don't have have serious conflicts between them),crafting overhauls (same as game overhauls). The kuerte's proffesion mod is fine, i really trust his mods but do you really need that +20 hps buff. Schlongs of Skyrim (reported to cause problems) Anything Sexlab Chesko_Frostfall.esp (very awsome mod that i love but uses many scripts nonstop) 28 Weapons and Armor fixes.esp 29 Weapons and Armor fixes - Hacks.esp (i don't think they cause problems but i feel they're somehow reduntant, unofficial patches fix many, and some of WAF fixes i think they were intended) DATGRASS.esp (HUGE FPS hit) CrowdedCities ( reported to cause lag in many cities, i don't think it causes you the infinite screen problem but i would test without, since you have problems in cities mainly) Footprints.esp SkyRe_Survivalism.esp (if you disable Frostfall there's no need for it) In short in my opinion, for testing, it's better to make a mod list of like 30 mods that you just MUST have then play a bit, see if it's stable and okey, then add some more mods, repeat, till you find the golden balance. Deffinitely clean the update.esm and dlcs with Tes5edit, many people reported it makes game much more stable for them. And if possible use Wrye Bash (304 is the best for me) instead of any other mod manager. Edit: Weapon and armor fixes might be prerequisites for other mods. if they are, then keep it. gluck ^
...0... Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Thanks to all the advice from you guys, I managed to cut my VRAM down to 1,300 MB and I still cannot leave the Bannered Mare. So guess this isn't a VRAM thing, whilst leaving the Bannered Mare, I simply get a infinite loading screen. Any further advice? Dunno if its been told here already or you know it yourself but your also limited to max 3.1gig mods installed nomatter how powerfull your rig is even with 6gig vram this is absolute limited ammount, its a math thing you can't surpasses. So far if i had a CTD i always manage to get rid of by removing one by one mods untill i find problem. Its nice all these monitors or boost programs but if you go over limt this game engine can handle no progg in the world will prefend CTD. Little search on the net will show many tips and ways how to handle skyrim with mods, But some rules are like absolute laws of physics you can't change them nomatter what.
...0... Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I have VRAM issues as well (2 x 1GB Crossfire and I'm heavily modded, so it's a slideshow), but I hope to solve them by brute force with a 4GB R9 290x later this week. But the #1 reason I've found for unsolvable CTDs is the custom skeleton. I'm having to reinstall the XP32 skel frequently, and that tends to help with odd CTDs. Also, clean out anything that has massive scripts. I was suffering frequent "transition" CTDs due to the full version of SOS. Busting down to SOS-Lite fixed those right up. A CTD when transitioning from a small area to a larger one is often caused by SOS "Schlongifying" armors in the new area, so SOS-Lite is better in that case. Also, for sanity's sake, run BOSS again. Sometimes I find that the order is shuffled by NMM or some other tool, and I didn't know about it. Check Wrye Bash to make sure everything's green, and you don't have out-of-order masters. Finally, check my post here for other tools to clean out your scripts and other cruft: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/15574-skyrim-savegame-bloat-remover/?p=347566 Unless somethig have changed but xfire 1gb each videocard still stay one gb it wont go up suddenly to 2gig it just dont sorry. 4GB brute force? your still limited to the 3.1gb max mods install above you get CTD.
Taskmaster Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I think another big issue is too many scripts. You've got a lot of mods that interact with NPCs, too, so that could be a huge town issue. For example let's take Wet and Cold, it checks for weather right, on every single NPC. Then multiply that by Climates of Tamriel's many weathers, then multiply that by Inconsequential NPCs, Interesting NPCs, lots of NPCs, etc. It's too much stuff trying to happen at once. Is Footprints.esp the footprints in the snow mod? Multiply that one in there, too. Lanterns of Skyrim? It's probably checking every NPC for time of day and to put a lantern on them with Chesko's Wearable Lanterns. I've never used SoS, but I'm assuming it does the same checks on every male NPC. Frostfall is repeatedly checking your char for weather and distance from heat sources, what types of gear you have on, etc. Personally my game has run much better ever since getting rid of Frostfall, I just use my imagination on how cold my character would get. Same with RND, I got rid of that, too, and just feel it's time when my character should eat and sleep. I've gotten rid of Flora Overhaul and my game has run MUCH better without it - first of all that mod has a ton of dirty edits that needed to be cleaned through tes5edit, and I can almost assure you that that is a huge cause of infinite loading for exterior cells when combined with like any other mod(I'm assuming Dat Grass especially, a 1-2 punch). If anything, even when your Skyrim actually runs, I'd bet that many of the scripts don't fire and get skipped over, so you're missing out on the maximum experience of many of the plugins you're actually using.
Uriel Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Unless somethig have changed but xfire 1gb each videocard still stay one gb it wont go up suddenly to 2gig it just dont sorry. 4GB brute force? your still limited to the 3.1gb max mods install above you get CTD. Yes, crossfire/sli VRAM's does not stack. Actually, it looks like those multi-gpu configs are a waste of money. Troubles, bugs with new games(like no performance gain), and the most awesome part is stuttering and "fake high fps". 3.1gb is not a problem with ENBoost anymore.
Azzariel Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Disable SexLabProcreation.esp and it should work, I had a lot of CTD with this mod...
mclericp Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Disable SexLabProcreation.esp and it should work, I had a lot of CTD with this mod... this works fine for me previously, and i m trying to install it again but got stuck at the weight scalin(another topic) So definitely not procreation the issue
Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted October 29, 2013 Author Posted October 29, 2013 Good news! After taking most of the precautions and advice you guys provided, I no longer get infinite loading screens in towns! Well, I haven't tried in all the towns yet... But Whiterun and Windlehelm work find. Unfortunately I still get random freezes. What will happen is I will hear the audio all fine, then everything will freeze, the audio continues though, its extremely strange.
Azzariel Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Have you tried this ? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12801//? Since I used it (with the safe mod) I have no more crash and freezes...
Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 Have you tried this ? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12801//? Since I used it (with the safe mod) I have no more crash and freezes... Yes, it didn't really help all that much. I think most of my freezing stimulates from scripts now, I think as some people have said earlier, I just have to many script intensive mods which cloud the rest of my game..
Dallas-Arbiter Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 You might want to get rid of radiant prostitution if you already haven't. There's over 500 scripts in that mod.
