VRAM CTDs?

i'd just go ahead and chock that one up as a loss, just find a save and replay from a point that isn't mods maxed out.

the game is so poorly designed that it's better to pick a few big mods and stick to them on a play through.  the more scripted crap, the harder the scripting system has to work.

it's a poor system, it's no ID engine, no c/++ and shit, no it's built like a version of VB from 1995.

pick what you really can't live without, no matter how hard you try though, you will find two mods you want that won't work together!  i swear it's a law of modding.

weapons, armor and lands are best mods to add, give you a bunch of places to go over a bunch of stuff that will overload the system.

also check ouit the s.t.e.p forum, they have made a lot of effort to test mods so they work together or have posts on if the mods don't play well together.

lost but not least. refresh your ini files!  too many tweaks to the ini's will lower fps too,

I don't get it. Why is it so bad to have high VRAM usage? It just means you get everything possible from your rig.

Also, if you're going to use ENBoost, don't run "Texture Optimizer" stuff as ENBoost dynamically compresses textures on the fly. That's what Boris himself adviced.

ILS/CTD's are just a Skyrim's "feature". No one knows what causes them.

come now we all know what causes it, sheogorath.

I was trying to fix some of the errors in my papyrus log and while searching on the net i kept coming across comments saying skyrim can only use 4 gig of ram as its based on 32bit so even if you have a sweet system with 16 or even 32 gig of ram its still only going to use 4 gig (all that having more would allow is it to have a total 4 gig to itself)

While i don't know how true that is I have noticed on my PC that automatically sets everything to high (have a ATI 6870 with 1 gig and 8 gig RAM - PC getting bit old now) if i turn AA off and anisotropic filtering to 8 samples rather than 16 my crashes on load and in general have greatly reduced.
