jdutn Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 (edited) EDIT: RESOLVED! Turns out I didn't finish installing SKSE. ? Anyone experiencing the same issues I am, please check what I failed to consider!! Make sure you got the ./scripts file as well as the DLL and EXE from the SKSE ZIP. Hello. I have been searching for this issue but have not found a fix that works for me. Essentially, I'm using (or trying to use) Sexlab 1.65 for Skyrim 1.6.64, SKSE 2.2.3, and Mod Organizer 2. The way I'm set up, MO2 runs the SKSE launcher (which has in past caught and disabled mods I've installed incorrectly or for wrong versions before running the game) and loads to the main menu, but as soon as I load into a character, I get the popup mentioned in the title and included below: Any who wish to help, please suggest fixes! I'm certain I'm not the first to bring up this issue. Edited September 19, 2023 by jdutn resolved
Just Don't Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Likely missing or incorrect version of Address Library.

Perhaps I've installed it incorrectly, but I'm certain I already have Address Library Am I meant to drag+drop the ZIP file into MO2 (like I've done for all other mods so far), or is there something else I need to do? Just Don't Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Just a regular mod install. Are you sure you have the correct version? First file is what you should be using. Second one is only for people in 1.5.97 (never updated since 2021 or downgraded). Other than that, confirm no other versions of SL are overwriting the one you're trying to use (1.65 for AE, not GOG). There are very few things to check outside of that. I can't think of other reasons to have that error message.
jdutn Posted September 16, 2023 Author Posted September 16, 2023 I'm certain I have the right version. All in one AE, top file installed like all the rest. I even reinstalled Sexlab to see if that was an issue (it wasn't.)
jdutn Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 (edited) I've just had a thought. What if it's not the framework I'm having issues with? There's two SexLab mods in my list, SexLab Framework AE and SexLab Aroused SE. Perhaps it's that second one that's throwing the error? EDIT: I just checked the page for SexLab Aroused. It lists zero dependencies, and even if there were any MO2 would point them out, wouldn't it? What a useless epiphany. Edited September 17, 2023 by jdutn
anjenthedog Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 Ok. so you get a model popup. What next? If you dismiss it (I presume you can dismiss this modal popup?), then open the MCM, is the Sex Lab entry missing? If not, what does it show once it is opened? Anything? And does SL not work, or is this one of those "annoying but not actually deadly" startup issues? EX: I was getting one, for months and months and months, balking at my (updated from 1.6.2) install of SL 1.6.3, and eventually it turned it was SUM complaining, due to me forgetting to keep SUM updated. << DOH! Or, presuming this was part of a game update process, it *might just be some sort of "Hey you musta updated because now the old version isn't here and I see this new version and well its confusing me" shitpost modal that goes away once you've created a new save with the new version installed (and old one disabled/uninstalled) and opened that newly created save file. You have created a new save, and are working from it, yes?

Somehow, I've done everything to install SKSE correctly and it's still not installed correctly. Why? How? EDIT: and yes I am able to dismiss both popups. Edited September 19, 2023 by jdutn
anjenthedog Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Ok, then presuming you have SKSE already appropriate for your Skyrim version, then your SkyUI is expecting a different version of SKSE. SkyUI's doc suggests it should be SKSE independent, so I'm not sure. Is SkyUI working "as expected" otherwise? If so, you might just have to wait for a patch of some sort (if it's not already out there in one of the "miscellaneous patches" mods.

And how do you install it? As you're using MO2 it's not as simple as adding it to MO2 as any other mod (you'd need the root builder plugin for that, but not many users know about it or how to use it). Instead you need to install it either manually (moving the actual files to its proper location without using MO2 at all) or only installing the /scripts folder using MO2 and moving the executable and dll files manually into your root Skyrim SE folder (the 3 methods I mention require you to install things outside of the /data folder, the exe and dll files, so it's not as straightforward as installing other mods). If you didn't do it like this then yeah, a common and easy to ignore mistake, sadly in a foundational step such as installing SKSE will surely get in the way of other mods working properly.
jdutn Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 Right. Sorry, getting frustrated. I have previously put the SKSE exe and dll in my game folder and set MO2 to use it instead of the main exe. I don't remember anything about a /scripts folder.
Just Don't Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 You should either have the /scripts installed as a mod in MO2 or you moved them into your actual game folder. If not your install wasn't completed, which would explain why you're getting that second error message (which should have been your main goal for troubleshooting, don't dismiss these messages like nothing is going on, that was critical information to see where things went wrong).
jdutn Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 Holy shit I finally fixed it. I was actually missing that ./scripts file, now I load up the game and find zero errors. I'm so sorry, this was my first time doing this (I'm used to minecraft mod loaders like CurseForge that find and install all the prerequisites automagically) Thank you ever so much, and I'm terribly sorry for spending your time battling my part-incompetence-part-ego-part-not-reading-the-goddamn-instructions. I'll edit my OP to include how I found my fix.
