Could I please have some recommendations as to which of the various follower overhaul mods is the best of the best? Or what the pro/cons of them if anyone has a lot of experimentation and experience with the few you can get off nex?

AFT gives you a lot of options but limits you to 5. Right now I am using EFF with 7 followers. It's great for giving "group" commands. One nice thing about AFT is it has a command "get behind me" which clears your followers out of your way, and then there is the pose function.

I've used 3 personally, and only use AFT now.

Amazing Follower Tweaks, AFT is the best. It's pretty much finished updating since the bugs have been removed and all followers regardless of being DLC added or custom can be used with it.

Extensive Follower Framework, EFF is a solid follower overhaul. It pretty much does about 75% of what AFT does but with a pop up screen instead of in dialog so it can be used in combat. I've never experience problems with this mod but I've heard a few people say they had them, so YMMV.

Ultimate Follower Overhaul, UFO is one of the first follower overhauls. It's very popular considering that it is the first one that usually pops up when on the Nexus. Sadly it hasn't been truely updated since before Dawnguard was released and has only bare minimum support for any follower not vanilla based. I wouldn't advise using this since it isn't up to date with the newest Skyrim versions or any DLC making it not even viable for vanilla play. A lot of people use this and complain about problems and CTDs, which makes me wonder why they even use it since it only does a fraction of the actually up to date mods.

AFT has 2 major advantage witch is if you are vampire or werewolf you can infect your follower to become like you.

But with every advantage comes negative one it uses allot of scripts witch EFF is compensating.

Also the advantage AFT has it allows you to make camps witch EFF is lacking. But from what i read there seem to be allot more planned for EFF so these disadvantages might even be temporary.

I stopped using AFT because if you're using any mod that changes timescale or change the timescale yourself, then there's a constant pop up on loads. I was using a mod that allowed me to have a dynamic timescale, so indoors it would jump up to 40 indoors so it was like my characters were in dungeons and caves for days at a time instead of just a "few hours".

I've long since uninstalled that timescale mod though, and haven't gone back to AFT. I just use Mixed Unit Tactics, and whatever follower mod that comes with its own features.

^Mixed Unit Tactics.

It allows me to direct through a shout and can even command followers to initiate stealth attacks. There's a bunch of videos displaying what the mod is capable of.

I switched from AFT to EFF when version 4 beta came out and never looked back.   The only plus I can see that AFT now has, is the ability to infect your followers. But in my opinion with all the scripts AFT uses it's just not worth it.  If you ever want to switch from AFT to something else you can't. you're save file is forever tainted. Even if you stop all scripts and follow the uninstall instructions.  You can check it by watching your papyrus logs.

Plus. The EFF wheel interface is awesome.

I wonder if that might be part of my problem, I used AFT for a long time, then it limited me to 1 follower. Removed it, waited a few game days, tried UFO, it worked for a few days, then did the same. Removed it, waited again running EFF, it worked great for a bit, now it wants to limit me to 1 follower, but lets me keep the followers I have as long as I don't dismiss them. Very frustrating.

ived used all three no probs.

ufo is kinda buggy as it needs to be updated like a person using a win2k machine in 2012. (windows 2000 came out in 1999)

eff is great can be buggy though like when i need my followers near me or they get lost in cyberspace.

aft is nice as well sadly my only grip is its limited to 5 followers. not really a prob i just had to choose my 5 favorite followers. if fixed the issue of me having to go find my follower with summon shout. i wished there was option somewhere to enable at least some more followers. 5 10 15 20.

anyhow its up to you.

Listening to Ex users of AFT, wouldn't the SKSE.ini with ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 help clean cluttered scripts in saves? Just wondering just so as to avoid getting into problems.

I like AFT but it also runs alot of scripts in the backround for each follower even if you dismiss them(around 10 scripts for each follower).

So the more followers you get the the more scripts it will run so it might mess stuff up at one point or another.

At least thats what people say about it. But personally i havent had much problem with it yet.

I used UFO for a long time, but switched to EFF after the former wasn't updated for Dragonborn.  I've been thinking of trying AFT, but this thread has changed my mind.  I'm going to update to the EFF beta instead.  I've held off on that for too long anyway.

AFT is nice for a small number of followers, but if you like to collect eye candy followers and cycle through them, then EFF is better.
