t.ara Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 (edited) SSE is surprisingly well promoted. Some "exclusive stuff made by dedicated creators exactly seemed to become to promote the game for no serious further reason, I only do think they got sponsored by bethesda, directly, for doing so! But that SSE is and has no better features. Performance is contraindicationed, depending on some worse technical aspects. There´s no "better" one. And SSE is no update of SKYRIM. An update is building on an compatible version, which is here not the case. SSE is a different game with different technical aspects which has still and again no full autonom support for modding. And there are no progressive features, which would spend in any kind an advantage over SLE. There are no further corrections at it´s sensitive side (HAVOK PHYSICS) and the game is reacting quite in a same way whe it comes to bugs. The memory-improval is simply standing against lot of sad downsides and detours, when it comes to it´s modding-aspects. The aspect about auto-update-smashing-lol...: all those titles can be easily locked-off against extraordinary access at the user´s site. Means that argument is no reason to go this or other routes. That update can btw. also happen with the SLE version, suddenly. Menas you need to secure your installations. Up-to-now SSE is not able to reach to become my serious game to play. It´s mostly an additionally experimental and lot-of-space-killing-"bonus game" with a technical difficult stand without any remarkable advantage on my partition. Playtime: max. some minutes for some comparison. This of course depends on what you prefer ingame but at all this is not only me, doing so-lot of serious creators are in the same situation. A serious ambivalence here. Edited July 12, 2023 by t.ara

Is it more complicated to install mods via Rootbuilder? Edited July 12, 2023 by endomiel

It's just another option how to handle (and protect) your precious vanilla files against unrequested updates

endomiel Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 Alright, mentally prepping myself to get this show on the road. My gamingtime is precious, so I want to make sure spending all the time modding Skyrim results in a stable game. Decided to try my luck at SE pre AE, so 1.5.97. Here's hoping all my favourite LE mods got converted to SE!

endomiel Posted July 26, 2023 Author Posted July 26, 2023 Sorry to necro this, but as I got to installing everything, I just got overcome with doubt, right after installing the 1.5.97 downgrade. Is it a viable option? The SKSE website seemed to be implying to use the current build.. Is it in a common thing in mods to support 1.5.97? Or are the vast majority upgraded to the newest version? And finally, once more: Can you use the latest game version without purchasing the AE add-on and still get good mod compatibility? Sorry for the doubts & whining and thanks once more.
