Animations not starting. :(

Hiya!

I've gotten everything installed and (mostly) working. The problem is that no matter what initiation method I try - SLEN, SexTalk, etc. - animations don't actually start. All of the dialogue works correctly, but then NPCs just resume whatever they were previously doing. SexLab's MCM says all prerequisites are installed, I can see my installed animations, and I was able to trigger a masturbation animation with the power from SLEN but animations involving other actors just... don't happen.

Thanks in advance for the help!

What skeleton(s) are you using? An actor with an inappropriate skeleton will not animate.

I'm using XP32. My player character and NPCs should all have the same skeleton.

Did you register your new animations in Anim Loader?

This wasn't a necessary step last time I used SL so I missed it. I've installed "SexLab Animation Loader SSE," but it says there are no animations to register despite me seeing them in the SexLab menu itself.

Alright, so I've gotten SLAL to recognize some new animations, but it seems the selection for them is rather limited, or at least they're hard to find... am I missing some obvious large packs? Or is there a way to convert animations that used to work to this new system?

The basics for animations are

  • installing the correct SL framework version for your exe/SKSE version + SLAL and animation for SE/AE (anything except animations for Skyrim LE/2011) + any requirement for these mods (ex. Address Library, Jcontainers, etc)
  • running FNIS and confirming there are no error or warning lines in there (if there's any google and fix them)
  • once you're in game start the SL installation and wait for it to complete correctly
  • register any SLAL animation in the SLAL MCM if you have any
  • use whatever mod spell/power/dialogue/hotkey you have to start animations between valid actors

I've followed these, but the animations simply don't play. Animations are registered in SLAL, everything seems to be working, but when a scene *should* start, it doesn't. Maybe that's because of the method I'm using to start it, Sex Talk - are there better quick/simple matchmaker options for AE?

Kinda have the same Problem, or at least similar. The animations technically even start, sound works and they do get together. But than they just stand inside each other until the Animations finish. I can even hear the sound of the Animation, but they simply dont move. Have Skyrim SE, but seemingly upgraded to AE somehor. Fitting SKSE and Sexlab is installed. Zaz Animation pack and SLAL installed and registered.

However it is also maybe interesting to note that SLAL registered 123 player and 419 creature Animations. But Fnis only finds 94.

Even if you didn't buy the AE DLC, AE is just another update. Unless you disable Steam updates you'll get it eventually (and any new update if there's other in the future). Check the product version of your skyrimse.exe, get SKSE and mods with a dll compatible for that version + Address library for AE. Run FNIS/Nemesis and confirm there are no error or warning lines in there. If you have any you'll have to check which mod is being mentioned there and change/remove the mod.

FNIS and SL count animations differently. FNIS considers each individual file of a multi stage animation, while SL counts all these individual files as a single animation.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but did you remember to run GenerateFNISForUsers.exe?

Yes, of course. After every Modchange, thats why i have FNIS numbers.

To just donts post: Thank you. I did doublecheck Sexlab, SKSE and Skyrims version after i realized that i got upgraded. But I am not so sure about most other mods like Address Library since i did download them under the assumption of having SE. So i will try checking theese again. Thank you for the Tip. I will post about success or failure later. (but maybe not today)

Sadly no success so far. Deactivated all 43 mods. (got warnings about mods were version 43 or older) But even after I disabled them, they are still just standing there during Animations. Game itself works no problem. Only the animations are still screwed.

Form 43 is not an issue as long as you're getting mods from the right places.

Post all the text FNIS prints after it's done running. That's the first thing to look for when animations are failing.

Ok tried to follow this thread. And yes, Skse.ini, Animation limit crash, SoS AE multi-edition, XP32 fixed scripts were indeed not installed. I also now tried to install Fnis inside the modorganizer and not as a seperate tool in the skyrim main directory. And yes, it indeed works differently now. Mentioning all the mods it loads, so i assume it didnt load them at all before. But after a lot of missing temporary log-file- problems, which got fixed by selecting the fnis-mod as override option, i of course got a new error. Error 76 (again, somehow all errors are 76) attempts to open a path which is not on the disk. Yeah... now im actually lost.

Assuming the filepath are correct this error and similar ones about being unable to access a certain file path or file in particular are permission issues caused by Windows Defender or similar antivirus software. You can create an exclusion for MO, FNIS and similar programs in Windows Defender or your AV of choice, as a last resort you can turn off real time protection before running FNIS to see if it fixes the issue, then turn it back on after it's done.

Done that the entire Gamefolder is an exception to my Antivir. I even started a completely new mod layout and got Fnis running, loading and mentioning all mods now without error or warnings (aside of SLAL or SoS because too old, but i unchecked theese.) And guess what even so Fnis is working now, the sexual Animations STILL dont work.  However idle Animations do.

Incomplete install of SL in game (you need to trigger the installation while on 3rd person, that's when all the requirements are correctly detected which you can see in the SL MCM) or you have an incompatible animation in there (which FNIS reports as warnings). If you have to try to replicate the steps I pointed in my first reply here with the bare minimum requirements for SL, that way you can know for sure you did the basics correctly before moving on to add SLAL and other mods on top.

Not sure why this hasn't been mentioned yet but more than likely if SL animations aren't starting, your issue will be printed in plain english in the papyrus log, assuming development mode is enabled in SL.
