Too dark and the pointer is not on the book. The book at Volkihar is too near the game border. I couldn't get it and had to use again additemmenu and setstage. Thx and regards
Hochhalter1 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 (edited) so, when you get transformed into the mermaid, specifically the mermaid soul the mod is equipping shell armor to the character. you don't provide the bodyslide files for the shell armors. also, the magic scale effect for the body is an armor i think? but at any rate the clothing/armor assists to the mod aren't fitting properly and can't be altered without the bodyslide files. I'd pull em myself if i knew how. I'll look into it today if I get time. i wondered why when i was altering the coco mermaid files nothing was happening.:P i'll take a quick look at the mod files and see if i can track em down so the pth for the shell bra is: data/meshes/actors/character/merfolkrace/shellbraWIP4 for the tail is : (in the mod zip) meshes/coco cloths/mermaid ( this does seem to get edited by the bodyslide already included) conversion of the shell to 3ba with shape files and nif/tri. idk where to stick it to make it overwrite the mod though:P )bra section removed_ shellbra3ba.zip Edited October 10, 2024 by Hochhalter1

Thx and regards This seems to be an issue with mods that also work impact these areas, as my current setup replaces an inert crate with the book. Automating it might be possible, I suppose, as the bra only gets generated through scripts so a condition could be added to get triggered by the presence of 3BA or CBBE.

I have Underwater Visibility Fix for RW2, although loaded after the mermaid race mod.

In the SE version of the mod, the system is tailored around SE's Survival Mode, for which mermaids are immune to the freezing water damage.

From what I gathered, none of these mods copy the assets or features from this one, two of them using Coco's mermaid tail, which is another mod entirely. Furthermore, the mermaid mod here is, as I pointed out in the description, a community effort from LL that spanned over a decade with the animations, for instance, being made by others, so there is no issue whatsoever in my opinion in people releasing limited-content mods using Coco's elements.

I've spent hours trying to find a fix for 3BA bodies, and while I can get those to work with modifying the COCO mermaid tail, the hand keeps disappearing on me. V3.0 had body overwrites you could select. the newer versions you've released do not:P I was thinking about trying to mess with the actual race in creation kit, but when I looked at the race everything looked to be done correctly. it seems like the guys doing the other mermaid mod is using a 3ba body. I haven't tested it. but that may be a solution. with no bodyslides other than the coco mermaid one, I'm lost. and i have no idea why the hands get overwritten. I've tried just this mod, but then even the body disappears, but only in mermaid form.

Casting any of the spells leaves me the same as before. How are you supposed to change to MermaidLegsRace btw? I have never managed to do that. I always had to change race back completely.

The Siren Transformation spell should turn a tailed mermaid back in legged form while casting again the Mermadic Transformation spell in either form would get you back to the original race for the character.

It tells you to cast Siren Transformation which refuses to do anything at that point because you are not a mermaid. If you get around that, if you are a human and finish the quest and cast mermaid transformation, you become a mermaid with a tail. If you then cast siren transformation it goes through all the popup dialog boxes and tells you your legs reform but they don't. Looks like you get assigned the right race at some point but you are still wearing the tail outfit. I'm not actually sure why I would want to go through all the trouble with this mod, quest-wise, because I'm basically worse off than before. I'm playing a Sacrosanct vampire so I have permanent waterbreathing anyway. I don't swim as fast but there is a faster swimming spell in one of the creations for Skyrim AE, so that's not really a drawback. As a mermaid you don't even get to attack or cast spells underwater, which is kinda puzzling to me lore-wise. I get why you would want this for role playing, but then it'd be great if it didn't make anything else worse for you, if you know what I mean. Which it kinda does because the transformation wounds you gravely and costs massive amounts of magicka and then it takes away the race based bonuses from Sacrosanct, Freyr and Mannaz. PS: Sorry if this sounds too confrontational. I didn't mean it like that. However, I'm also playing as a Daedra Seducer (another mod) that has its own race that lets you transform into a winged version of yourself which then lets you fly around. I lose that, too, if I turn into a mermaid or siren. Since much more of the game world is accessible for flying, that makes it hard to ever want to play as a mermaid. This is quite strange, because on my side, the system works and the reversion to siren is happening correctly. Here is the current build I have with improvements in terms of the Temporary Mermaid spell effects and a mechanic to swim between Skyrim and Solstheim, but there should not be issues with the Siren transformation spell: Mermaid Race 3.0.21 SE.7z As for the other general remarks, I would argue that you sound like you have found your own mods and races to play Skyrim with and might not be that interested in this mod's concept overall. To which, well, I cannot argue for or against, as matters of interest and taste are purely subjective and not fundamentally things to be argued about (especially not here, I might add). Although, there is one point on which I would respectfully disagree, and it is the notion that the roleplay elements should not make things worse. My belief and game design consideration is that generating issues in a controlled manner is actually a very good way to generate emergent gameplay: I only started curating this mod when I playtested it and found that the legged/tail transformation was too absolute, either generating absurd frustration (one of the versions did not allow reverting to leg form ever, the other shifted immediately to tail form at the slightest hint of rain, snow or swimming) or none at all. The entire concept of the mod is to balance environmental drawbacks with advantages to nudge the gameplay towards one that make the player act within the roleplay definitions: by causing rain to progressively slow down and eventually make the siren turn in a mermaid while on land, the player will be necessarily nudged towards acting like their own character: covering themselves to reduce the rate of exposure to water, looking for shelter or looking for a body of water to safely swim into, rather than just "adding some race based bonii". On this game design philosophy we might disagree, but this is not one from which I will bulge since, first and foremost, I designed this version of the original mermaid mod around my vision and for my use (even though, of course, I do take and implement suggestions that work well with my vision of things). With due respect, what this mod is not is a race-based bonus or a costume/skin to be added for a screenshot, because this is not what I looked for in Skyrim, which is rather a companion to similar roleplay experiences around these creatures, such as what Sims 3/4 - especially with SpinningPlumbobs' mermaid mod in 4 - offered. That the Siren Transformation spell is failing for you is something which I find annoying because it indicates a possible coding issue that escaped my playtesting and for which I apologise.
