Could someone that is fluent in 1010100011001 please translate that matrix for me?  jj... really though, anyone?

ok well as bs aside, I notice that Karliah Invisibity spell doesnt seem like a happy camper and BYOH is still in there after all. What does this mean and what can I do about it?

You're saying you have the same issues even with a new save, right?

What's this "Info: *Achievement 44 awarded - a winnar is you!*" mod?

What you can - or rather should try is the following:

1.) Start Skyrim Launcher/Mod Manager or whatever you're using

2.) Deactivate all plugins (except Update, Dawnguard, Dragonborn, Hearthfire...)

3.) Start a new game and take a look at both the log and the save file after a while

4.) Activate only one mod at a time again

5.) Repeat step 3 and 4 until you know what causes any issues

After looking at this thread there's a lot of randomness in here. First of all. You have to get your save bloat problem fixed. Adding more mods or trying to use someone elses save is just going to cause more problems.

Do what cell said.  Steps 1-5.  I've got nearly 300 mods active right now in my current save file and it's only 9.6MB. Your 150MB save file is out of control. Deactivate all your mods, start a new game and see if it still bloats your save. If it does, that means you have a previous mod that didn't unload properly. Nexus Mod Manager is known to do that sometimes.

If after you deactivate your mods and still get bloat and need to do a clean uninstall/re-install:

1- Open your steam library

2- Right click on "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim"

3- Select delete local content.

4- Open file explorer and navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common"

5- If exists delete "Skyrim" folder

6- Open file explorer and navigate to "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common"

7- If exists delete "Skyrim" folder

8- In the file explorer address bar type "%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games"

9- Rename/Backup "skyrim" folder if desired This is where your current save games and config files are stored.

10- Delete "skyrim" folder

11- Open steam library and install "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim"

12- Start a new game and play for a little while. Like get to Whiterun and create a save.

13- Goto "%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games\skyrim\saves"

14- Check file size for bloat. If good to go now you can start modding. If bloat is still there you have bigger issues than worrying about getting skyrim to look good.

After clean install/ bloat fix you can start modding

Read the following site thoroughly:

wiki.step-project.com

The STEP Project is a step-by-step guide to modding and getting your skyrim looking good.  It is an excellent place to begin your modding adventure and how I learned to start.

You may also want to consider backing up your local game files from steam before you start as well. That way you can avoid re-downloading game files if you need to do another clean install for whatever reason. Just right click on your game in Steam and click "backup Game Files"

I'll also give another recommendation to Mod Organizer for its virtualization as well. It's initially a little more complicated than NMM but I haven't had to do a clean install since I started using it.  The only mod that doesn't work with it is SKSE. That one you have to install manually if you use it.  Wrye Bash is also popular and is also covered in the STEP guide.

I live in the land of a thousand questions therefore, I embrace randomness in my thread so that I may learn as much as possible without cluttering your site with my "content"   :)

I would never survive without good folk such as yourself to constantly push me in a forwardly direction every time I jump down another rabbit hole. Thank you, kind Sir.

Oh, thank Talos for you and Cell!!

Those steps are blithering idiot friendly

Im going to see if I can follow them properly without catastrophe now.

You guys are like knights, cloaked in white shininess right now. I appreciate everyone of you, ladies in gentleman!  :)

By the way, may I ask if any of you have ever utilized the save cleaners? They are a bit over my head atm. Any advice or info or spare time to apply one to my game for me on RDP by some miracle of the Divines?

I've personally never used them. Partly because I've read they actually do more damage than they do good for a saved game. Either way, Skyrim's saving doesn't quite work like Oblivion's or FONV's where you could simply "clean" a save. This topic has been argued enough and everyone has come to a conclusion that you can't truly clean save in Skyrim.

Sounds a little frustrating, I know, but as far as I know it's held true.

Thank you cell! You guys are full of infinite wisdom around here!

(EDIT- I meant JohnnyRed, TY, JohnnyRed!)   Sorry,  I dont know where my mind was at that moment.

-I suppose the time has come now to pull out the tissues and pump myself up to delete my current save game.

-95.8MB! lol

Questions more questions.... ok,  I was actually using the steam workshop on the first game, the 150MB one. I "unsubscribed" to those 4 mods and didnt have NMM. I reinstalled then and this is my second round of bullshit, this time with totally different mods using NMM, 7zip, SKSE. May I, or should I rather,  just go ahead & just start on your 14 steps and start clearing things out?

,,,agggghhhh, and I have a bad feeling here. I'm getting the fear.  What if I do all this and it happens again?!! What if it does bloat Vanilla?! Worst case scenario, what do people do about it if its not mod oriented? Would it be my computer or my Steam account or the hard copy I loaded?  Just curious.  ...and terrified.

Save game bloat in a vanilla game, with all mods unsubscribed is impossible. :)

You should just go for it (the 14 steps). (And after that my steps).

If you have to go back and load a whole new clean version of Skyrim then I highly recommend you switch to using Mod Organizer (MO) instead of Nexus Mod Manager (NMM). MO keeps all mods completely separate so you can both easily and cleanly remove any mod, you can switch between two versions (or more) of a mod but it also provides "profiles" so you can have completely different mod sets loaded for different characters with unique saves.

DO NOT delete your save games, keep them around (in a safe folder) and if/when it's determined what causes the bloat it may be possible to cure them. If you use MO, you can even set up the same set of mods in a separate profile. Note that with MO you can go to the tab which shows your saves and hover over a save to see if it requires any mods that are not loaded and of course it lists the mods that are needed.

Are you sure?

I heard of people getting it on ps3?

Sorry to second guess you... Just trying to banish The Fear.

Just a thought, but have you cleaned your mods? Even cleaning the vanilla files as well? The vanilla files have so many dirty edits that need to be cleaned out.

And if you do reinstall Skyrim, make sure that you go into the Steam folder and delete the Skyrim folder completely. This way you are sure to get a clean install, instead of it installing over your old files.

That's in these 14 steps already. :)

And probably the most important step.

Vanilla files don't really have to be cleaned. They don't cause save game bloat or CTD's. However the Unofficial Skyrim Patch mods are useful.

If you do it right (the 14 steps), there should be no problems in the vanilla game with the latest official patches.

Must-have mods after a working clean installation:

- latest SKSE + SkyUI + RaceMenu (with DisableFaceGenCache plugin)

- Unofficial Skyrim. Dawnguard, Dragonborn, Hearthfire Patch (install the DLC ones only if you own these)

I have been watching Gophers videos on TES5edit on repeat I am just really scared to cause utter devastation considering I am so new to pc. Every time I run BOSSgui,  I can hear Gophers' voice in my head and I'm ashamed of myself.

Then I read on some beginners guide that tools like Tes5edit can cause more harm than good and that was just what someone like me needed to hear so that I can waller in denial.

ok.   SO i just took a deep breath,  deactivated all plugins and erased all of my saves but the latest one in game. When I went to my saves folder it went from 95.8MB  to just 8.26MB! Even when I activated all my mods again!

Have I been wrong the whole time and I am supposed to be opening my save file and looking at individual save times? Obviously when I saved a new file in game my folder jumped to 16MB now Im feeling like an idiot and hoping I dont have bloat at all and I just dont know what Im talking about? Because that would be freaking awesome!!!

One .ess file and one .skse file = one save. You have to look at the .ess files individually, not the whole saves folder. :)

Anything up to 20 MB per .ess should be "acceptable", depending on for how long you've played with that save.

Oh wow!

This means you can get back to having fun. A lot of the advice you received is still good but wait until you are ready to start a new character or are ready for a big change up before following through on it then.

Meanwhile browse the content here in Lovers Lab, you might find some stuff that will add some spice to your game although the content we have here is definitely not for everyone.

You all have me feeling warm & fuzzy inside.

Never once did any of you ascend a pedestal to talk down on me, or to inform me that in all reality, I have no business trying to mod Skyrim in the first place,  and for that, you all have stolen my heart.

Thanks for keeping it positive for me and for giving me priceless advice. All of you. Digital hugs all around!

You read my mind, WaxenFigure! I shall be all up in that content.

...and your right, while I cant say that getting freaky with My little Ponies is my cup, exactly,  I have no doubt that my future mod list would shame my family. To each his own fetish!
