Anyone buying this new pack?

Something about better babies. You know, those things in sims 3 that you'd drive out to the deepest snow in and leave them there, but like some horror film, they won't die.

I played "Bust the dust" once, and found it to be annoying. Besides, I need to vacuum the house in real life, why would I do it in a game? And I've changed enough diapers in my life to know it's not what I want in a game.

It's A GAME. I don't need to mimic real life. I want the satire and anti-commercialism back. I want to go into the future, have children from the past or future pop out of my Time Machine I made on the Inventing workbench. I want to go into the future and seduce my descendants like a Heinllein novel. I want to do outrageous things. I want plumbots, not simbots and certainly NOT SERVOS. Servos wear out my mouse and my button click finger.

It's a game. In Fallout 4 I go around shooting people, and not all of them are bad some are just annoying. You build nice things for assholes, you do the killing that NPC asks you to do, then you kill your own son because the NPC asked. It's not like I really go around doing those things.

TL:DR The new EP is stupid and made by unimaginative people who don't play the game but make the game they want us to play. Not Buying this.

I'm more annoyed with the fact that sims CONSISTENTLY don't make babies that look like the parents, for example:

1215432891_Untitled3.thumb.png.6673b71708b5654b62bd30d97d545dca.png

I know what this is too, it's more of that diversity inclusion crap. More woke crap, in other words...

As if the Sims isn't diverse enough, you can't even have kids that resemble the parents?...

I could understand if maybe there had to be some "discovery" when it came to the family tree, and in the course of that you found out that (in this case) Nancy banged a black sim and an Asian sim on the side, and that's how those other kids came to be, but that's not how the base game works (unfortunately).

I know huh. EA game designers must have hated high school biology and learning about dominate and recessive genetics.

I thought they fixed the magic woke genetics. Everyone knows they didn't screw up and did it intentionally.

I just would edit them so they looked like they belonged to their parents.

I could tell some real life stories about kids that don't look like dad.

I want a new neighborhood, I like what clothes and items I've seen from the packs. I'm still not 100% sure what I'll be playing, but I'm definitely going to extend each life stage out for this save.

The benefit of this game is that you can literally ignore all that woke stuff and do things your own way.

I got a warning this morning:

:SimsAfterDark: PSA: a huge patch is coming tomorrow! :modwarning:

A game patch is scheduled for tomorrow in preparation for the new Growing Together expansion pack, and it's shaping up to be one of the biggest and most disruptive patches in quite a long time. In addition to adding the entirely new infant life stage to the base game for all players, the pack will include fundamental changes to careers, relationships, social interactions, skills, traits, and much more. We expect all kinds of mod across the full spectrum of the game to break completely.

If you'd like to put off the update until later in order to continue playing with your mods, you need to take action now. You will need to disable automatic updates and put the EA app into Offline Mode ahead of time.

Crinrict has created two short tutorials to help with this:
Turning automatic updates on/off: https://crinrict.com/blog/2014/08/origin-turning-automatic-updates-on-off.html
Playing offline: https://crinrict.com/blog/2014/09/play-offline.html

This is also a great opportunity to back up your save files!

:bsod: If you choose to delay your patch, we will continue to offer support for version 1.95 for some time before requiring users to update to the newest version, in order to give everyone an opportunity to take care of their mods folder as updated versions become available. If you choose to patch immediately, we will not be able to offer much help tomorrow and you will be asked to remove all of your mods if you come to a support channel.

Good luck and happy Simming!

TL;DR: The game is having a huge update 13/14/23 and is expected to break a lot of mods if not all.  So No, I'm not planning on getting the new pack.

Wait, what does one have to do with the other?

The patch happens whether or not you get the expansion. This kind of thing happens every time there's a major update to the game.

what does woke mean

The term "Woke" really just means accepting, respecting and acknowledging our racial and cultural diversity. It's been appropriated by the Christian nationalist and the right wing party as a slur and euphemism for anyone "not white and straight  like me".

This! exactly, the game's genetics is broke not "woke"  the term has really been corrupted by people and become a catch all for folks like me.

I'm getting the pack JUST because it comes with a new world

In fact, I may get into the practice of getting ANY new pack that comes with a new world (Unless of course it;s another Batuu) on the PC JUST FOR the world (I passed on Vampires & Werewolves because I'm NOT into the occult but have since decided that alone can;t be a deciding factor on PC like it can be when I play on console)

I'm not sure what YOU are expecting but the new base game update SHOULD NOT break ANY NSFW CC or Mods (Unless you engage in Kiddie Porn play, in which case - GOOD !! I HOPE IT FUCKING DOES) as all the update does is add INFANT to the life span cycle

Personally, I've been WAITING FOR THIS to come out before my sims gave birth (One was impregnated over 2 1/2 yuears ago real time when I had the game on my old PC (I had MIRACULOUSLY managed to preserve her on The Gallery the whole time) while another was impregnated JUST BEFORE The Sims Summit where the rollout of Infants was hinted)

Now, if you have any SFW Mods & CC, it cou;d break THOSE but that's why man invented Curseforge (Insert Devilish Grin emoji here ?)

You could play offline on Origin, but I can't start the game offline with the EA App. You can't even start it offline to shut off automatic updates.

I hear from youtube that a redditor said that the update borks the gameplay with infants, so that you have to drop Dirty diapers and other wierd things until you buy the new EP.

Pretty much made up my mind with buying more EA games. They've gone nuts..

G-Bus dude, I don't think Evel Knievel could have made that jump.  I was just reporting some news I got.  If you've seen any of my work you'd know that 99% of what I post on here is funny and sexy pictures of sim women with (mostly) large breasts.

From what I've heard some custom clothing has even been broken by the newest update.  I haven't read or looked too far into it but I'm not planning on updating anytime soon.  Lucky for me I can play offline just fine.

ALSO!  Yes I know updates tend to break mods but my choice for not wanting the new dlc has nothing to do with it.  Please don't jump to conclusion.

FIRST - Putting the EA App into offline mode or not enabling Automatic Updates is almost ALWAYS problematic (I know this because NOT ONLY was I NOT able to download the update when it first went live but I WAS ALSO LOGGED OFF as well)

SECOND - Don't always believe evereything you see, hear or get from A THIRD PARTY source. GET IT FROM THE OFFICIAL SOURCE in cases like this

In any case, most CC won't break but some MODS (Especially those with companion TS4SCRIPT files) ARE prone to breakage (That said, they don't always break and/or the author often gets out in front of it & heads it off at the pass (The GREAT ones like TURBODRIVER usually do :) )

Evel Knievel can make THAT jump too :)

This only lasted a couple of days (Which is A MUCH SHORTER period of time between Base Game update & rollout of new Pack than usual)

True, the Infants did look a little quirky but for US, it's of little consequence because WHO HERE plays with a sim or household with children YOUNGER than A TEENAGER??

Not me.  I do thjat on console (And no, I didn't spend any time playing but I did watch some Twitch streamers though :D )

I play the normal game + sex and attraction, so yeah, infants, toddlers, children are in my game. Sex, by itself, is boring. Why, who, when circumstances... WW is lacking in all of that, but sometimes you can set things up within the confines of the game limitations by using other mods.

EA app sucks and not in a good way. I can't start the game, even though I'm on line and my daughter isn't logged into EA and I had to accept the update.

I think I'll play sims 3. I can still play that.

I don't think I'll buy anything more from these money grubbing EA guys. Boring EPs like changing dirty diapers (I'm good with the swoosh, thanks), no into the future, not even a time machine.

But I got hearing aids now. WTF EA? Yes, I'm hearing impaired, (also known as deaf) yes, I tried hearing aids, but they're not a fashion accessory and neither are glasses. Either ALL out fits get them except swimming and sleeping, or don't bother.

I uninstalled Sims 4 and their EA App. This last update is nothing but crashes, WW warnings and grief. Tired of spending my hardly earned money on garbage that isn't even fun because EA broke my babies in my saved games.

Anyone wants me I'll be in Fallout 4 or Sims 3.

EA doesn't like player, they just love their money.

I thinking about optaining stable game version by non commercial way. I know the subject is forbidden here, but I've spend my harded earned money for it, so I don't feel like I'm stealing anything, I just want control about what I've on my computer.

It make me think about the differences between commercial DVD movies and the "freely" downloaded ones. The former, before watching what you have bought, you have to endure advertissements and messages about piracy, the latter you just have to click and enjoy...

Fucking morons...

According to Pixelade's YouTube Video, there's even talk of a Class Action Lawsuit necause the problems woth the EA App go all the way back TO DECEMBER

Honestly, I think EA is in TOTAL DENIAL of their problems & acting like a drug addict would in the sense that THE LAST person who would EVER admit they have a problem is THE DRUG ADDICT.  As such, I don't think EA has even TOUCHED the app sinced its initial rollout

That said, I'm fortunate in the don't usually have problems EXCEPT when the servers are overloaded HOWEVER Pixelade suggested in the video & I reiterated it in my comment to it there that EA needs to get used to the idea of using a Rolling Time Zone Rollout in the sense that INSTEAD of rolling something out GLOBALLY at one particular time, that something would instead be rolled out LOCALLY at a particular time (Thus reducing the chance of server overload)
