...how many of us will there be to start working on a sex mod(s)? And I don't mean "how many of us will give ideas?" I'm talking about people who are already familiar with the CS/GECK and/or can provide animations and/or models. I understand that we may not even be able to get most things going until SKSE and the various NIF tools/plugins are released, but I think it'd be a good idea to see how many modders are already going to move to Skyrim.

Well still waiting for tools. and see what can be done with it, but don't expect a very advanced tool, knowing Behtesda they will probably strip it to a bare minimum.. So we still need to wait if we need an obse for skyrim..

I kind of hope for less pervasive sex mods would make their way out for Skyrim. I had my fun in Oblivion and FONV, but after playing Skyrim for a while, it seems the sort of excessive "sex anywhere, anytime" style Lovers and Sexout turn into easily would just kill the mood of the game. Besides, it's COLD out there, too cold for random roadside rapists to be standing at every signpost...

By the time we've played the game long enough to start sticking sex mods in it, I doubt "killing the mood" would be all that high on our list of concerns.

 

Hell, even something as basic as skimpy outfits would "kill the mood" and if we don't even have sexy outfits, then what do we have?

I think Sexout can be modified and customized pretty well as to not break the atmosphere of the world too harshly. The Tryout plugins in particular do pretty well in trying to keep within the "lore" of the game, as does things like Sewerslave. Sex-mods will *always* feel a bit out of place though because obviously these games are just not designed for it.

 

Personally I hope someone will pick up on the idea of making "lore-friendly" sex stuff for Skyrim. With the world having more sense of culture and backstory, there are more ways to work in the sex in a way that could fit the world. I also hope someone can fiddle with the random encounters, I'm sure there's potential there.

 

As for the cold of Skyrim... I think the game already breaks this rule itself at times, allowing one to swim in the sea and lakes that are close to freezing over (probably *would* be frozen over if not for Beth recognizing the allure of bodies of water in these games) without consequence.

Granted that. On the other hand, it's not a case of "all or nothing". There are degrees of realism, and there's going to be some debate over to what degree we should disregard the setting and environment.

 

It's not like a single compromise on Beth's part means that adding palm trees and nude sunbathing beaches won't detract from the setting. Neither is the occasional bare midriff going to destroy the atmosphere. It's a sliding scale.

 

So the question then becomes "where are people comfortable drawing the line?" And there's probably as many answers to that question as there are people playing the game...

Absolutely. Which is also why I hope there will be a modular system, as well as the ability to set percentages and all that... High customizability so everyone can try to get their experience just right.

 

Still though. A bit unrelated but I think it was a bit of a shame that they didn't include a mode similar to Hardcore mode in NV. Could've fit well into the game I think. Maybe there'll be a good mod for that also.

Hey all I'm sure all the ideas and wants of mods to be are appreciated, I think what the topic was asking is who and how many are willing and able to concentrate on creating mods for skyrim.

 

To answer, I would be willing to help where I can with any mods, although I don't know much in the ways of anims and such. I have made some armor ports in blender before and I know my way around nifskope well enough but sadly these are the easy parts. I know very little about script.

I don't have any prior modding experience apart from noodling around with the FO3 tutorial, but I do have a ton of professional coding experience, so I expect I can get up to speed fairly quickly.

I actually meant more on the lines of "less random sex, more sex with a point", but yeah, realism as such is a tricky thing. I'd rather there wasn't sex EVERYWHERE, though, since the excessive stuff is fun only for a bit, then it starts to wear pretty thin.

 

Also, on the note of swimming in frozen lakes... Am I the only one disappointed with the lack of hardcore mode akin to the new vegas one? I'm predicting one will pop up pretty fast after CS is out.

For example : There is this quest which depending on your decisions lead you to be captured by the daedra prince of domination which would be perfect for an s/m setting to start from there.

This time i will have to decline.. Since i am not even sure how much free time i will have compared to when oblivion or fallout games came out.. If there aren't to many changes to animation i could still create a few. But if i have learn from scratch again like i did before.. Then there will probably not be any animation from me for skyrim..

 

As for mods, i will have to see how this tool looks like first before saying anything. For all i know the changes are too drastic, and again time is not on my side, to learn new stuff.

I agree with Ronttu and some of the others. Skyrim is a great game and I don't want to see the immerrsion ruined or the game itself take a back seat to sex mods. Particularly I feel it would clash particularly harshly with Japanese mods.

 

That said, I'm all for a less intrusive sex mod that added to the experience, maybe a harem/multiple wives mod, rape mod seems like it would be appropiate in this setting as long as everyone wasn't getting raped every 10 seconds. Sure throw some big breasted dancing girls in there, just don't make every chick a big breasted dancing girl.

 

Frazetta and like artists seem like a good template. Pretty lore friendly, I want sex mods that enhance the game, not become it.

First things first, there should be something to do with your wife/husband if you get married. Sapphire is another good example, for sure (mentioned in another thread), and things like that are fine as far as I'm concerned. On the other hand, I find it pretty silly that every bandit you meet might just start humping you in the middle of combat, like lovers and sexout rapers both do. A group of bandits, overpowering a lone hero(ine) might get other thoughts after they decide there's no more stabbage coming their way, but a lone highwayman is not likely to risk his life to get some quick release unless they're under some horniness curse or whatever, they'd be too busy trying to avoid the PC from spilling their guts all over the tundra flowers.

 

I'm not even so much concerned with lore friendliness, to be honest, but if the sex stuff is all over the place with no regard to anything, it just stops being exciting. Oblivion with its lovers mods is good for quick, cheap thrills, but not much else. Sexout in FONV is a distraction mostly, if you want to actually get something done. Both mods are good if you go specifically looking for the sex stuff, sure, but even with the efforts towards having quests and dialogue and whatnot, in the end the feel of them is that the whole game is nothing but about the sex. I don't have any quick fixes for this myself, as I mod only very casually and extensive scripting is simply beyond the time I have available to invest, though, so it's just something I'd like anyone making mods to consider.

I don't know about y'all, but lovers with PK and FAL were both great. But if you must, at least avoid the fable folly of sex.

I've spent the last half a year playing with a little of everything. Depends on the needs and how we need to relearn tools, but I see myself doing it. I only see myself being stopped if the variables in the new script aren't available. Something you might want to look into is a new category of modders who are familiar with flash that could implement customized HUDs.

IIRC, it was about two months before the FO3 Geck was released, so I wouldn't be surprised if the wait for the 'Creation Kit' is at least that long.

If I might make a suggestion: there are those of us that want realism in sex mods this time. There are also those of us that think "if we want realism, we'll turn off the computer and go outside." If it's possible, maybe make two separate threads; one for sexual realism, the other for quick thrills. The thrills one could also accommodate those who played the 360 version to death and only play the PC version for mods. This way, everyone's happy. Personally, I'd like to see the return of DMRA and FAL; and of course, lovers with PK. However, we have to see what scripting will be like first. Maybe someone can make an actual lesbian mod. Sorry, I can only provide suggestions as the only mods I've done were CM mods and a house mod.
