beck11 Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 The way it is now' date=' I go to Skyrim for adventure. I return to Oblivion when I just want to see some digital tits bounce and have my naughty chocolate elf get raped by some dogs and the occasional horse. Two seperate title with thier own purpose.. I like it. [/quote'] Dont think I could have said it any better. Oblivion really is the dregs, I spend more time dressing up my companions than I do trying to complete another lame ass quest. And then you get out into the world and all the desire to play the game is drained from me. Flat land mass on top of another flat land mass, nondescript locales, tiresome NPC "interactions" unghhh....and it just goes on and on. How this POS was called GOTY at 1 point I will never know. Since the day I had Oblivion till now I have never finished the game nor have I gone past escorting that guy to storm cloud in the main quest. Im now contemplating just downloading mission mods and doing them instead of the in game missions. But my mod count is already 140+ and I still have much more stuff I want to download as well. Skyrim has thought me that art direction in games is soooo important. The world in Skyrim is just so alive and vibrant and organic that you do quests just to be able to explore more of it. Even NPCs are more life-like in the way they interact with the player, also helps that they dont move like animated robots. Right now I've just started the game so I havent done much yet but of what I see Im liking it 100x more than Oblivion. Also I judged Skyrim not only with Oblivion but with 2 other Gamebryo games and the differences are just amazing. Even though I love F3 and FONV to bits, Skyrim makes all 3 look terribly outdated by comparison. Im not sure if the Creation engine is that much better than Gamebryo but either way it seems Beth have pulled their heads out of their asses and actually made a game that is worthy of the hype. And w/e flaws the game might have, Im sure they will be dealt with in a timely and adequate manner by modders. Now if you'll excuse me Im of(to force myself) to play Oblivion.
Rogue13 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I only started Oblivion in February 2011. I have about 75 mods loaded and I tend to concentrate on mods to augment roleplayability (it's a word) and immersion. The graphics of my modified Oblivion makes the vanilla graphics in Skyrim disappointing. This game has vast potential. However, After about 5 hours of play, I have decided that Skyrim is not really ready for me to play yet (too many minor irritations that detract from my immersion). As such, I am setting Skyrim aside for awhile (maybe a year) to give the modding community (hopefully myself amoung them) a chance to make this game into the epic game it can be.
cyb3r Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 totally agree with that rogue13 even tho i managed to make skyrim look superbe like it was supposed to be according to the collector's edi book there's still things that i miss and that highly irritate me after finishing both the mainquest and the darkbrotherhood so i'm in oblivion finishing off where i left off pre skyrim
Triratna Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Skyrim is the ultimate combo between all previous Tes.series#, fallout.3 & GTA.4. This is the best thing i ever played after i gotta give them that. ... it's too awesome, sometimes i wonder if we actually even bother adding chocolate elves to the game. =w=; Oblivion is way too animeish While Skyrim is to over realistic to behold. I never look at mudcrabs the same way again after i saw them on skyrim. i'll try to import them for oblivion who knows it will work. @rouge13. Share us some of the graphic mod?
GSBmodders Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 the problem a lot of people have in playing oblivion is they attempt to play the vannila main quest and of course it's side quests which imo is a collosal pile of shit. there is nothing about the vanilla game that I feel is good, to enjoy oblivion I had to turn to mods like the lost spires, blood and mud, the gates to Asgard, reapers coldstone and waterfront mods and so many other works that imo made oblivion not just a great game but an all time great
Xtramustard Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 I still have fond memories of Oblivion, but after playing Fallout3, NV, and now Skyrim, I find it hard to go back. It has been a good (slow?) progression of quality. I played the death out of Oblivion, modded it to the nth degree, loved it and now feel apathetic towards it. With Bethsoft's flaws, I still look forward to their new stuff. They got me hooked when Arena came out.. (now that was old, and I found Morrowind boring)
