spore123 Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Dear LL mastermind collective, I've just returned to Skyrim after a LONG break (I've not touched it since just before SSE came out!) I'm running the latest steam version of SSE and tried my best to follow the guides on here, however I am stuck with T-pose (breast and Butt physics working on jump though!) and a comple of error messages upon launch. If anyone woudl be able to help it would be greatly appreciated with plent of internet kudos. I've tried disabling various animation mods and re-running FNIS generation multiple times but I still get the stuck in T-pose issue and am now at a complete loss of what is causing it. Other than the T-pose issue I also get two errors related to Fertility Mode mods I believe: "FM+Error_JSW_BB_Storage script is being overwritten by either a loose file or another mod! This patch cannot function properly!" "FM+Error_JSW_BB_Utility script is being overwritten by either a loose file or another mod! This patch cannot function properly!" traison Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 So where are those errors from? I doubt they're from FNIS considering how they're worded. Regardless, your issue is in FNIS. 1
spore123 Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 Thanks for the quick response. Is there any way to pull a FNIS generation log that can help diagnose the issue? The errors are boxes that pop up in game. The T-pose issue is the main one I am trying to resolve though - I *think* it may be ZAZ/ZAP stuff related so I'm currently checking versions etc. there and am currently downloading 'ZaZ Animation Pack+ CBBE HDT V.8.0+SEREV3' which I *think* is what I need?
traison Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Simply copy-paste the FNIS output here. Put in a spoiler tag or similar. 1

traison Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 You got a bunch of things to fix there, lots of incompatible animations. Also you're way over the animation limit. If you're not already using FNIS XXL then that's an option, otherwise it's time to cut out about a third of your animations. I don't think any of those would cause the t-pose issue though but then again, considering you didn't ctd with this, maybe t-posing is a side-effect and you just got lucky. I'd fix warnings first, then if the t-pose issue is still there, look into it again. 1
spore123 Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 Brilliant thank you so muchfor the help! I'm already on the FNIS XXL so hopefully that should mean I'm OK on the animation quantity front. But I will try to eliminate the issues; I guess that means disabling animation packs that are showing with errors like : >>Warning: \character\behaviors\FNIS_Babo Creature_Behavior.hkx not Skyrim SE compatible<< right? I thought I have downloaded only compatible packs - but I guess I messed up!

I would however say that if you go near or over 100% you take the responsibility for what happens. Even more so than usual I guess because lets face it, regardless of the number we're still making the game do things it was not intended for. 1
Just Don't Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Remove all the animation packs that show incompatibility warnings. Get ported animation packs from here (just open the spoiler, green ones are ready to use, remember to run FNIS and register them in the SLAL MCM). Use Anim limit crash fix to avoid crashing while loading with too many animations. This doesn't remove the CTD calc in FNIS, but you can totally ignore it as long as you have the fix. The latest version is for some 1.6+ versions, I'm on 1.5.97 so I use 0.2. You might want to check which game version you have and try different files. 2
spore123 Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 I went through everything that looked even the littlest bit dodgy and reinstalled, and now everything is working even with a HUGE amount of animations (and the anim limit crash fix - thank you 'Just Don't'!) Now that I am running I just need to pick my Live Another Life start and get on with my new character - quite looking forward to seeing how SSE stacks up against original Skyrim from years back. You need to change the order in the left hand pane of MO2 (the actual mods) not the right hand pane (the plug-ins).

If I may add just an observer note: isn't it more accurate that above is true only if mods seen in left panel are pluginless or consist of loose files (while those are ones that conflict)? In other words - if mods in question (conflict) are both fully packed into BSA, then whatever happens in left panel becomes irrelevant - the real order of loading resources is governed by their plugins (right panel) and the winner is determined there, what may seem weird but is kinda logical and can be verified by (a) testing it, or (b) checking "archives" tab (also in the right panel). Of course, level of confusion increases if one of two evaluated mods have conflicting files loose and the other don't - then whatever is order of left or right panel is irrelevant or undetermined - because loose file always wins against packed one... MO2 really can make simple things... less simple. edit: actually turns out that "archives" tab contents are inconsistent with "plugins" tab and internal conflict viewer (most likely first one lies), so I crossed it out. You can tell which files are being overwritten/overwriting by double-clicking on the mod in the left pane. You can then move the mod up or down and check the files again. The left pane is the load order regardless of whether the mod has a bsa or a plug-in.

When MO2 tells you two mods are conflicting because mod A and B provide the same chair .nif files it's not lying to you or occluding info behind the order in which the plugins are loaded. Mods A and B are conflicting and whichever file is listed last in the left pane will will and be used in the game. BSAs overriding this via plugin order or BSAs loosing against loose files is just how Bethesda games handle conflicts, regardless of MO2. MO2 can also detect and tell you when BSA files are conflicting and which mods are winning conflicts. It's only less simple if you choose to ignore the very clear conflict flags, be it for loose or BSA files. 20 hours ago, PippinTom said: edit: actually turns out that "archives" tab contents are inconsistent with "plugins" tab and internal conflict viewer (most likely first one lies), so I crossed it out. It's following very simple rules: loose files load in the order listed in the left pane, loose files always win against BSA files and if there's any conflict within BSA files the loadorder of its plugins will determine who wins. Well, as I said before - you are right about left panel - it is all (and only) about overwriting - but my point is that overwriting can occure only on filesystem level and only if each of following is true: -- there are two files (at least) with the same name, including theirs relative (sub)paths, (their contents do not matter at this point), -- they are mounted/contained within two (at least) different 0-level directories(*), or "mods" if one prefers, -- they are both LOOSE (not packed) - otherwise from filesystem point of view - they don't even exist (are invisible). And this covers/is true in just ONE out of three possible cases(**) when overwriting occures (and can be used to manipulate what wins conflict). In other words, in any case when overwriting does not occure - what happens in left panel is of no consequences to anything at all from Skyrim's point of view, and what wins eventual conflict falls back to overriding governed by actual Loading Order (what I've already laid out before, trying my best to not spoil it with my English). ________ *) because that's basically what left panel shows - list of first-level directories in MO2-mods' root plus some metadata spread across additional columns. **) which in practice is not actually even that statistical ~33% of cases because not all mods out there are fully loose (while none of them actually should, according to game developers).

I didn't and don't complain about conflict showing mechanism, seems correct to me. *) to be exact about what I mean about lying is that I've made quick test of two "mods" fully packed with conflict on some nifs, I've dragged/reordered them in left panel and "archives" tab followed my change blindly (and wrongly), while it shouldn't, because plugins order (right panel) didn't change due to swapping "mods" in left panel (what is correct, because those two are independent and should be, by design) and at the same time conflict (shown by internal conflict previewer) remained the same as before reordering "mods" (what is correct and at the same time proves my point). A loose files and a file from an archive can conflict and you can set MO2 to have the archived file set to win the conflict. You can also set MO2 to hide (not load) a file. The left panel is the load order and the load order is set by MO2 not Skyrim.
PippinTom Posted August 27, 2025 Posted August 27, 2025 (edited) 58 minutes ago, Grey Cloud said: The left panel is the load order and the load order is set by MO2 not Skyrim. No, not exactly - the left panel is the order in which VFS is being built by MO2 - that's it. Skyrim does not care about it as such - Skyrim is fed by this VFS afterwards, runtime. The only thing Skyrim cares about is "plugins.txt" which is more or less what user can see in right panel, on the tab "plugins". And the scheme is simple - real load order (on physical level) is there, starting from top - plugins and tied to them BSAs, then loose files previously "merged" by MO2 into VFS. On logical level - last occurrence of file being in conflict while being in BSA wins over others being in BSA, unless there is one more (literally ONE at this point) loose file of same, conflicting name. traison Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 My understanding of the load order in an MO2 environment: USVFS checks if the requested file already exists at the path specified, i.e. literally in the Data directory as you see it outside of the USVFS. I recall it only ever does this once per session. If it wasn't found, but the USVFS has the file listed as being present in a mod: The USVFS redirects the file operation to whichever mod won the conflict for this specific file, i.e. now it's looking somewhere in the MO2\mods or MO2\overwrite directories. If it wasn't found: The game will look in currently loaded BSA archives for the file. If it wasn't found: The file doesn't exist. The BSA load order is defined by the load order of their associated plugins. Each BSA has to have a plugin of the same name, otherwise it doesn't load. MO2 has some way to load BSA archives without a plugin, but I bet internally the game itself still works like this. MO2 is probably just fooling the game into thinking there's a plugin for each BSA regardless of if there actually is one or not. In addition to this, there's a BSA load parameter in one of the Skyrim ini files which may or may not define the load order of the archives listed there. You can see the USVFS behaviour in a utility like Process Monitor from Sysinternals (Microsoft). Inspecting what the game is doing with BSA archives is likely to be far more complicated.

PippinTom Posted August 28, 2025 Posted August 28, 2025 1 hour ago, Grey Cloud said: Then when does Skyrim load mods which don't have a plug-in? I do believe that answer has been already given, twice at least. BTW: I think we could at least agree that "mod" that does not have a plugin is not a mod from Skyrim's point of view - just a bare file structure of replacements that takes precedence over any actual mod there is - its just like a bag full of pieces from undefined amount of puzzles that has to-/should be sorted out/handled first by (any) mod organizer to avoid complete chaos. I guess the whole confusion comes from calling "zips" with loose files "mods", especially if one considers that quite often their contents are completely or partially useless to the Skyrim - they are just input/resources for utilities like FNIS or Calientes pack which for some reason has been planted inside Data directory and stayed that way ever since.
