Mrs Taewa Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Hello, I just recently bought Oblivion and am looking for recommendations for Mods...at this time Graphics, Bug Fixes, Patches, Game play and Character creation, such as bodies, skin, eyes, hair, etc...
fejeena Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 right game installation, nude body replacer, animations, tools you need, Bug Fixe tools, Load order and Mod cleaning, ... everything you need before you can install Lovers Sex mods. https://www.loverslab.com/topic/36443-oblivion-install-gametoolsbodiesbbb-load-order-sorting-espesm-cleaning-cs-cse-body-stretching/#comment-915257 Character creation? new races ? Nexus https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/categories nicely sorted by categories Same here at LL https://www.loverslab.com/files/category/4-oblivion/ And we don't know what you want. Some people want better textures, high res textures. If they stand in front of a tree they can admire the realistic tree bark. I prefer a more interesting landscape and use Unique Landscapes ( Unique Landscapes see Nexus or https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/files/category/143-unique-landscapes-project/ ) ...It's too much, and too many different tastes and opinions. 2
LongDukDong Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 (edited) Pardon for the length of my post. But I like to be informative and explain, not just what... but 'why' when I can. "You have to learn why things work on a starship." - Adm. James T. Kirk (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan) Some custom mods require the use of a plugin known as OBSE (or Oblivion Script Extender). It allows modders to extend their capabilities and create plugins with commands not originally available. However, if you do wish to use OBSE, you WILL need to ensure that your installation of Oblivion is not within the 'default' directory as suggested by your game installation. For OBSE to function, Oblivion cannot be installed within the C:\Program Files folder. This is a necessity with users of the Lovers with PK package, a framework package that requires OBSE for functioning. Again, the C:\Program Files folder is BAD for OBSE. You may wish to have it in a C:\Games folder, but do not have it in Program Files. ♦ ♦ ♦ Test Test Test. When you install a package, test to make sure it is running fine. If you have enough to warrant a SET, well... the 'DATA' folder with all you have installed can be COPIED as a backup, Consider the following: C:\Games | + Games\Backups | | | + Backups\Main Oblivion | + Backups\Oblivion w XEO SP | + Games\Oblivion\Data | + Games\Skyrim Above, I present a tree with Oblivion in a C:\Games\Oblivion folder. And above, I also depict a C:\Games\Backups folder. Within the Backups subfolder, I have two subfolders of its own, one being a copy of the Oblivion Data folder and one being a copy with the XEO SP race mod installed. This... just an example of having backups. I myself have a folder which has a backup of my default installation of Oblivion. But my backup folder also has (in my case) an installation of Oblivion with the MBP mods and Setbody, and a third with the LAPF package as well... and another backup more grandiose. If I find I screwed something up, I can erase my Data folder and copy/paste the backup in place. Obviously, the backup when pasted back, must be named the Data folder... right? Having backups comes in handy as I may play and do LAPF modding. But some packages and quest mods such as Claudia's Little Secret will not function with LAPF at all. I need to go to a previous Non-LAPF backup to play that mod. Don't worry with what I have in my mod. Just take time to first get your feet wet and get used to things. ♦ ♦ ♦ Reading is always fundamental. If a mod comes with instructions, follow it. If there are recommendations, note them. Now I stated not to worry with what I have in my mod. HOWEVER, if you were considering the LAPF (Lovers Animated Penis Framework) mods... also known as Lovers with PK.... then you would wish to first consider the post I made on installation which you can find by clicking the green link in my signature. Yes, the package comes with instructions, but they were made before Nexus Mods changed their forum structure and the links in my post have updated URLs for the recommended content. ♦ ♦ ♦ Now a talk about mods and some overlapping issues. Some mods do not play nice with one another. Lovers with PK and Claudia's Little Secret is once such instance because both have completely conflicting mechanics that perform the sex animatics. They just... won't. Other mods will work together fine, but sometime there will be mods that only function properly if you have them arranged in a particular order. It makes perfect sense that the first thing loaded would be Oblivion itself, correct? Then some other mods after Oblivion loads? Of course! But of the mods that load after Oblivion, some may need to load before others. This is called MOD order. Your mod organizer of choice can assist you in arranging your mods. Just KNOW that some mod organizers that come with auto-sorting features ... NEVER sort the sex mods properly. You always need to sort them yourself. For that, the very first link which @fejeena supplied in answer to you is key. That link (also the yellow link in his and my signature) will take you to a section that governs MOD ORDER. Now the BOSS order posted recently has sex mods within. But again, the mod organizers (including BOSS) never sorts them properly. So look just a bit further down for the text example mod order and the spoiler just beneath it for assistance. NOT ALL sex mods are listed there... but enough to get started with understanding. But again... after installing anything big, TEST! And if it works, you might wanna make a backup. ♦ ♦ ♦ ONE OTHER THING.... When you make ANY changes to your load order... when you rearrange them... when you add a new mod... or remove one.... START... with a fresh and new game. Do not use an older saved game. Your saved game files contains data from the mods you have. And changes to your list of mods can have nasty effects to your saved games. Removing a mod and then loading a game may make your game wonder... What is this data I have here? Is it garbage? YEP! You're going to retain some garbage by removal or by changing the order which your save game already carries with it. So a fresh game is always advised. *Okay, I know one mod that 'CLAIMS' to require a previously saved game... a werewolf mod that actually will NOT work and crashes if you actually start a NEW GAME. It only works if you have a saved game made before activation. Weird... but they say there's always an exception to the rule... and this mod must be that exception. I once owned an XBox on which I played Oblivion, but then skyrim was released and I bought it pre-release, within six months I bought a PC and began modding Skyrim and haven't stopped, so have been pretty much playing a heavily modded Skyrim ever since (now on SkyrimAE)...I haven't played Oblivion since. Basically all that I have been after is not really sex mods at this point, they come later once I'm well accustomed to the game again, but just striaght up Bug fixes, better graphics without major changes and not having to make fugly vanilla characters and no glued on underwear. Thank you so much for the links, I will be going through them all carefully

That's a lot of good information right there, thaank you ...I was going to treat Oblivion like a Modded Skyrim, which I'm adept at, Oblivion seems to be quite different in regards to a Script Extender, thank you ...I was about to make a big mistake with the Script Extender, you siopped me, much appreciation
Sladen2019 Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) More and more modern mods these days are making use of a newer Oblivion Script Extender called xOBSE. Its compatible with older mods and works ok with Loverslab mods. It was last updated a few weeks ago. Regular OBSE was updated years ago. If you already have OBSE installed, its no trouble. You can simply overwrite the older files with the newer ones.. If you do somehow come across any issues you think might be caused by the newer xOBSE, you can post about it in their posts section or on their Discord. They are pretty good ad fixing issues. https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/37952 If you already have the game and mods instaled into program files, its not necessary to move the install elsewhere. You can simply disable UAC which is microsofts User Account Control. UAC is what makes those annoying "are you sure" you want to do this or that messsages appear. Here is a link with directions on howto do it with Windows 10, The directions would be similar for Windows 11. Disabling UAC will have the same effect as moving the game to somewhere other than program files. https://articulate.com/support/article/how-to-turn-user-account-control-on-or-off-in-windows-10 Edited December 3, 2022 by Sladen2019 1
