After playing Fallout 4 for so long, I've just reinstalled Skyrim after 6 years (although it's my first time installing the Special Edition) and I don't remember everything I need to get a proper sexlab build running again.

Is there a build guide like how Fallout 4 has the UTD AAf guide? And is there any major known mod conflicts that I should avoid installing? As of right now I've only installed SKSE and Im taking the installation process slowly so that I dont royally jack up my game before I begin

While it's designed for LE (not SE) this covers the whole "getting started with Skyrim and SexLab" topic. Entirely.

If you only just installed Skyrim, you most likely don't have SE but rather AE (Anniversary Edition). Unless you downgrade using a special tool, this is important when getting any SKSE based mods.

As for the guides and such, I'm sure there's lots of them on this site however I'm not going to "google" them for you. Setups are very subjective and I can almost guaranteed you will stray from the path eventually. Also because I do not think Skyrim requires a guide similar to what AAF has on FO4, that entire thing is such an illogical mess when it comes to compatibility. The best "guide" you can have is a competent mod manager, one that can clearly show you file conflicts. Avoid these file conflicts, to avoid obvious problems, unless you know what you're doing. Read mod descriptions to know what mods do, do not install 2 mods like Defeat and Submit at the same time; they do the same thing even if they may not override eachothers files (not checked). Common sense you'd think perhaps, yet it seems a lot of problems arise from people just installing everything they can find.

With time and experience (after bricking 10 or more characters) you'll figure out which kinds of modifications are good for complete runs of the game, and which are likely to break everything in a few hours and are only good for a laugh.

Perhaps a generic list would do:

  • SexLab, for your game version. I'd go with SE, but you do you.
  • SexLab Animation Loader (SLAL) + whichever packs you want.
  • Something for arousal perhaps.
  • Something to start animations.
  • Some bodies: SOS perhaps and 3BAv2 or BHUNP.
  • A physics solution (or both if you're brave): CBPC and/or SMP

For physics, and mind you this is my own opinion, it goes something like this:

  • SMP: complex, slow (or slower I should say), sometimes twitchy physics. Better for outfits.
  • CPBC: simple, fast (faster?), stable physics, maybe slightly limited. Better for body and body collisions.

You can have both at the same time, however what the support for this is in out-of-the-box solutions I do not know. I've made my setup myself. CBPC for body, SMP for fancy outfits.

SMP has multiple versions. You'd want the "fast" one, aka. the DaydreamingDay version. It might be this one, but not 100% sure.

That should help out. I've just got back to Skyrim myself, but sticking to AE for all the headache that it is... already purged my load order thrice.

You can pair this guide with Return to Skyrim (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/58414), which, despite being for AE, should give you an idea for a stable "foundation" for SE as well, on which you can dump Sexlab mods.

Just be careful about mixing Nemesis, DAR, and FNIS together. There are ways to make them all play nice, but it's the "how nice" that's proving to be a pain in the ass.

using both SMP and CBPC have been the norm for the advanced body types since ~CBBE-3BBB (or maybe back to CBBE-Advanced...can't quite recall

regarding HDT/SMP, for AE (1.6x), you'll want Faster SMP, not HDT-SMP. And you'll need that for many armors even if you go through the trouble of making your body CBPC only.
