Skyrim crashing during character creation

So this is a new install of Skyrim LE, and I have Live Another Life installed.  When creating a character when I get to editing hair to use one of the KS Hair instead of the default ones the game immediately crashes.  Any thoughts on why this is happening and how to fix it?  On previous installs of LE I never had this issue.

That sort of issue tends to occur when one or more of the requirements for a mod is missing.

I double checked, I have all the requirements.

You might have followers using those hair with set the wig as playable.

Is it the same hair style or any KS hair?

Have you tried with a different hair mod?

 

I have something in the back of my head that says this is a known problem. Something to do with memory? An ini file edit? Try doing a search ?‍♂️

You are right, it's because skyrim loads everything at one time.

There is a dll fixing this somewhere burried here.

Never used it, as it's for le

there is an mod that use to be required for hair mods(not a master) that is now in Racemenu, You have racemenu installed right?

This made me go down memory lane, then memory lane veered off into a glass of wine for a bit... then I remembered this old thing.

I Think this is what you both were thinking about. The problem could also be you have a SE texture set saved in bc7 being used for those hairs on accident.

In my experience that doesnt cause crash, I use to see that in racemenu a lot, never crashed. 

 

 

Wonderful OP could try to reinstall KS Hairs and maybe somehow problem is race related(thats racist!)  maybe temporarily try a different race.  Since you just reinstalled skyrim you can check your skse version when loading into game to make sure that is working good

I reinstalled KS Hairs and double checked that the SKSE is the correct version. Still having the same problems with CTD.

next time your in Racemenu try a different race and maybe just for fun try a male char and see if that works.

Not sure which KSHAIR you are using some version work with HDT_PE others require HDT_SMP physic .

It is very difficult to get them aka hdtbody to work with HDT-SMP hair
