Yeah I was asking the other poster if he ever found a fix, I know you've retired from modding (which is a huge shame cause this mod is still top 3 ever made, seriously impressive). If anyone else has that issue, I solved it with setghost 1. 1
daveedmee Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 On 1/8/2025 at 6:12 PM, lovalter said: Hey so did you ever fix this 😁 Honestly it's been so long but if i had to guess i either removed a mod or it was caused by some reaction with a devious device added by any of these mods (e.g. punish the wearer for not fulfilling a requirement of the device but being unable to fulfill it, like collar says be nude and punishes npc but npc can't be nude without you interacting with them first to order it) I got some spare time rn if u want u can send me ur modlist and i check if i recognize any mod having caused me issues in the past or smth

If anyone else has that issue, I solved it with setghost 1. also didn't know about setphost 1, thanks. also i just remembered if any edge cases like spells from npc devices getting added to you when you have them equip it may cause this and some troubles when having them also added to NFF and stuff like that (bad idea, have npcs managed by either or)

I read: "The Notice Board SE For fuck's sake don't bother the author of this with your issues with my mod. My mod doesn't actually touch his in any way other than checking if a quest is running and having a higher priority blocking topic which gets rid of the annoying as fuck "BE CAREFUL"! every 3 seconds, and replacing it with something actually immersive. " ...but wanted to be sure that, given notice board hasn't been updated in some time, other mods could be possibly used. Appreciate any help! Edit: Just realized the mod author has left the scene, still keeping this here in case someone knows the answer but seriously no pressure. Somebody probably could port it to work with missives but it would take a lot of work that I wasn't willing to do even while I was still actively modding. And yes I know it kinda sucks that this mod evolved to be so many other things but still requires the notice board. IMO TNB shoul;dn't really fuck with your game even though it's old. It's only really a hassle if you want to use Missives or have some town mods that clash badly with the signs. (That's what deleting things with the console is for )

I cant currently think what mod in my current order might cause this though, maybe mageblight from dealingwithdeadra? Anyway setghost 1 should be a good enough workaround for now.

It's something to do with hit detection when certain benificial spells are cast on npcs around the player. I accounted for the vanilla ones through a black list (IIRC) but mods that add the same kind of spell will fuck shit up. If somebody can find out what mod causes this for them they could make a patch, but at this point I am so far removed from how this mod functions that I couldn't tell you how with any confidence. But yeah obviously ANY spell that hits them benificial or not that isn't blacklisted will cause the flinch reaction. Edited May 19, 2025 by Tentacus

Thanks in advance. This mod is no longer being developed or actively supported. You'd need to have somebody make a patch for you.

(Plus it's a soft requirement for my slaving equipment mod TRAM so I always ran it) As far as DOM goes I think you'll be fine though I quit playing it fairly early in the development of this mod so I can't say for sure. I should say I can't say for sure in either case because I am so far removed from doing Bethesda mods at this point that my memory can't be trusted. I hope people are still enjoying this mod cause I had a lot of fun making it, though I really wouldn't go back now. Making your own games gives you a lot more freedom.

I've had two thalmor slaves disappear on me after capturing them. Stuff like that is pretty much luck of the draw with how Skyrim decides to handle NPCs. Just getting them to keep the clothes you put on them requires going to stupid lengths (One thing Fallout 4 does much better) and there are some things like that that are really outside the modder's hands. It's possible that Thalmore are particularly troublesome, I have no idea.

I wrote the damn thing and I don't remember most of what I did at this point. Obviously getting enslaved is a bit dangerous as is attempting to hypnotize powerful mages... or drinking strange brews from strange women. Characters sold to Belethor disappear from the game etc... Mostly using common sense and reading the manual should get you by I would think... But also... just don't play this on a save you care too much about. As far as breaking characters go I'mma be honest I don't remember if I made it so a character's normal dialogue could be permanently sidetracked. I have an odd feeling that maybe that is the case... like if you really burned a bridge. I probably need to get a nice well modded SE install and give this a playthrough sometime as I have literally only ever played this in VR and because of my current home setup I can't really do PCVR anymore. 1

I decided to repost it here because this thread has shown some activity again and the information is equally relevant to Skyrim enjoyers. Hey, guys... I've been remiss checking my notices here... though it seems I've been pretty lucky as there haven't been many lately (And it's not like I'm much help anyway at this point). I'll try to do a better job of checking at least once a week. I really appreciate those who continue to step in and help others. IN OTHER NEWS: For those interested: After more than two years development my game is nearing completion. I hope to have it up somewhere for sale early next year (Assuming all us pornographers aren't sent to the gulags.) I really think people who like Hardship and my other mods will like it as the writing and flavor of it is very similar. (Only a lot better as my writing has improved 500% and I am only limited by my (meager) artistic ability and not having to struggle against Bethesda game engines and unreliable mod requirements. With the crazy amount of branching I'm doing towards the end it really is giving me some unpleasant Hardship and NMS development flashbacks. If you think you don't like Visual Novels because they're too static or make you read mountains of text I FEEL THE SAME. But I REALLY like MY visual novel. My game is more lively with sound, music, and camera changes than most... and I only display two lines of text at any gven time. I swear there's suppose to be an option to tell them to run away or to kill them even, I don't get any of those options. With the ring on or not, with a drawn weapon or not, with them kneeling or not :<
