akymo Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 dont know if ive posted here before... or if im just been lurking in the background... reading.. sneaking around... anyway im here now. hello. hi. i like this website, alot, seems like chill place, good people, nice modding community, nice mods.. a friendly looking forum interface, fast speeds, nothing bad about this site. 10/10 for loverslab. anyway im here for help.. for modding skyrim.. since i cant solve this one on my own.. and ive tried. tried. tried. tried. many times and reached out in other places without any help. i hope someone here can help me. besides people here seem mod tech savvy as bananas. short intro: ive had both skyrim and skyrim SE (now its AE) and i played like a full playthrough on skyrim the vanilla (not SE) many years ago and some days ago i wanted to try out SE (now AE) but in a modded configuration. that means graphics like RDR2 (rockstar games red dead redemption 2) or cyberpunk. yes i saw some modded videos and screenshots and i believe you can make the game this pretty with the right mods. anyhow, this path lead me into the modding portal and then i discovered there is so much more in modding skyrim then the graphic looks (even if i want it look pretty and still do) i discovered theres also adult mods. note: my first register on this site was for modding rimworld and im an RJW user. modding rimworld was 1000x easier then modding skyrim fyi. from i wake up to go to bed, ive been trying to mod skyrim, i feel days go by and im getting nowhere. june 4th: my start day of modding skyrim, i woke up, i decided this is the day i want to start to learn mod skyrim, i googled skyrim mods, i stumbled upon nexus mods website, i found out i had an old account there, i logged in, i discovered u needed be a member to download mods faster, (pay money like a premium), the website was full of ads, it took a rough 5-15 seconds to load every page i wanted to load, and with the delay of every click to download each mod and waiting time, id say it took 2-3 minute to download each mod without reading the description (or requirements). first day i just clicked around nexus mod site and started downloading mods after i also downloaded and installed vortex. after roughly 250 GB of mods downloaded i had to go sleep. june 5th: continue of download mods, basicly whole day i was downloading mods on nexus mods and installing with the its called FOMOD correct? in vortex for another 250 gb of mods, now a total of 500 GB data storage of mods on the free user / slow download membership. basicly took whole day. june 6th: i wanted to play today so after all my current mods downloaded on vortex (i couldnt be arsed or bothered to search and download more) i kept looking for a "Run" or "Play" or "Launch" button on vortex but of no success. i couldnt understand how the heck i was going to start skyrim with all the mods i downloaded. and i found no hint or clue online about it either. i ended up running skyrim through steam and then i got surprised, its still the same skyrim i ran on the night of june 3rd before i went to bed, nothing changed, so 2 days lost for nothing right? after that i gave up vortex and i wanted to try a clean slate plate and after some searching it said everywhere thats i SHOULD NOT uninstall, remove, delete vortex or any mods. so im not allowed to even delete all that mod storage i accumulated or even manage to try start a new clean slate? (im still stuck in this stage BTW) after anger and frustration, i still found out the folder on my drive (it was crowded full from all the mods) and i deleted all anyway. Oops.. did i break the warranty or no longer possible to help me now? but my vortex still says i got all those mods installed verified and installed... even they are not even on my computer anymore. and YES i tried uninstall and remove mods in the vortex client with the REMOVE dropdown button and nothing happened. also tried DELETE there. so i said F it and searched for other mod app handlers cause i knew there was others i stumble across during my 2 days of 500 GB mod downloading. june 7th: i decided to start clean on a new mod app called Mod Organizer 2, so i wanted do it right this time, i tried reach every description, guide, tutorial, video, on everything about modding related skyrim, i tried look in forums and posts, and this seemed to be the mod program to go for (other then vortex which didnt work out for me) , i also made a list precisly what mods i wanted to run and just get working, like if there is ONE mod to work in skyrim, i want it be this one, so my aim and still is my aim is to get that mod working in skyrim. after lots of reading and searching it was naptime also.. june 8th: i woke up and i installed MO 2 , i went straight to the mod i wanted, i check requirements, oops it require 4 other mods to be installed to run this mod.. i install one by one using the guide i found the day earlier (june 7th), it all worked well..until it didnt. okay ill try explain. the simple mods that was the Sky UI and Unofficial Skyrim mod worked to install fine, but when it came to all those XP32 skeleton, Nemesis (or FNIS) i got stuck again.. lots of stuff coming up no Data folder found, my skyrim folder is empty, and so on. and im stuck here again. I choose MO 2 over Wrye bash and i dont even know if wrye bash will work any better if i start over again it better i ask for a Professional for help. oh the final mod and only mod i want to have installed and work on my skyrim is: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/65164?tab=description and of course it require a lot of modding.. and installation of required files.. i know that.. but if i want mod skyrim it is for this file working installed. so can anyone help me ? i have discord if it helps to add and talk there (or write)

It's "you're" not "your". The fact that the guides are 2 years old is wrong. That is the date of their original posting. Neither of them say that they 'don't work anymore'. You failed in your OP to mention whether you are running SE or AE so please forgive the failure of my psychic powers. Current Skyrim SE version : 1.6.353 Current "SKSE AE" version : 2.1.15 Guide currently covers: Skyrim SE 1.5.97.0 and SKSE64 2.0.20 What part of that do you not understand? The list is atm NOT compatible with the newest Bethesda update! I had no idea of which version you ran but you seem to now be implying that you run AE. If so, and assuming you have a stable vanilla game, then you will have to do some reading to find out if a particular mod works with whichever Skyrim and SKSE64 versions you have. You can ask in the support thread for the mod if in doubt. AE has been out for 6-7 months now and there are guides on how to turn off the updates and how to roll back from AE to SE.
Just Don't Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 Mine has specific instructions for a pre-AE game, if you want to run with the latest AE updates you'll need to find the correct mod versions for that game version on your own. But it is possible to get the basics working on AE. The difference is which SKSE version you need to install and some files (mods with a dll). Even if you don't intend to use any guide you should totally learn about game/SKSE/mods versions and actively check which ones do you have and which ones you're getting when trying to install any mod. I think you could've progressed a bit more by reading (or watching already existing videoguides on how to install mods in general, LL mods aren't anything different tbh) instead of writing that wall of text of a rant. No hard feelings, seriously. Take your time, maybe stay away from the computer for a couple of days, once you put yourself back together try checking the available information. And if you feel like it's too much for you perhaps you'll need to find a different hobby. edit: 250GB of downloaded mods when you don't even know how to launch the game is a case study of building the roof before the foundations. Consider that you not only need instructions go to step by step, but also follow them and verify things are working as intended.
akymo Posted June 9, 2022 Author Posted June 9, 2022 I run AE that I mentioned in the OG post 2 times. I also been reading that most mods also work in AE now except from Simply Knock (that I want to use) but again I said I only want 1 mod to work that's it, Then im happy. But the problem is not to get X mod to work, i'm not even there yet, the problem is still how do I install X mod, then can look at if it works or not.

Either im dumb, or my PC is dumb, or the author haven't wrote a valid proof guide thats works.

But I'd start questioning exterior factors if I couldn't make things work after reading 4 different guides or after not being able to get 2 different mod manager to work in the slightest.

Actually I've probably read about 20+ guides at this point. The all guides pretty much say the same thing. However, even if I carefully fully all steps accordingly the steps, the result isn't the same on my PC as theirs displayed in the guide. I have to always tweak and fit, to make it work, til now, it's not working anymore. I don't know if it's because the guides are old, perhaps the code acted like this back then when the guide were made, because I cannot find any guide that is made in June 2022, most recent I found was February 2022, and sadly I don't even know what Skyrim or mod organizer programs were available then, or if I got some mutated PC that lives or does what itself want.

I too would be angry if I didn't know how to launch the game after installing 250GB of mod files and following 20+ guides. Seriously, no. It's not that you can't find a guide written specifically today, or during this week or at least in June of 2022. Nothing has fundamentally changed in the past few months. The latest game update was around January. SKSE followed shortly after. MO2 hasn't changed since November 2021.

But I posted about this on several places for faster solution and help and came to conclusion that there is something wrong with my installation and setup of all the mod organizer tools I have tried and used. If my installation have worked as normal I don\t think I would have any problems at all. *Because I am following each guides PRECISLY( No idea what to do now, since I am not really interested in going to my local computer store and buy a brand new PC just so I can have ONE mod installed on SKyrim. Well I do know one way, but I dont think any one here is keen to help me with that. As it require human/to/human help. And nobody here live neighbor with me so I cant just go to a local computer store buy a new harddrive give it to you and ask you to clone your drive you have to the drive I buy and plug it in my PC, in matter of fact maybe that wont even work either since the system wouldnt recognize it. So human/to/human help is the only way tell me if anyone here is interested in help me. Discord I have and is kinda makes it all easier *faster responses etc(
