mkprovince Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 For reference The Seaside Library by Jokerine http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/32558//?
BorisTheFurious Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Sorry, so you're writing new books in Skyrim to educate players about the lore? How are these books going to be added? A new library, random loot..? And why is this in Adult Mods section? Are these books going to concern the 'Dibellan Arts'?
Thulas Posted July 10, 2013 Author Posted July 10, 2013 Sorry, so you're writing new books in Skyrim to educate players about the lore? No, I will write various books, a few may be descriptions and more lorebased, others will use the existing lore and create new stories for it. Tales, guides poems, sacred manifests, etc. How are these books going to be added? A new library, random loot..? That depends on various things. The few requests I already have probably will be included into other mods, but there will be a standalone version, too. Depending on the sort of book they could be found randomly, bought from vendors or need to be picked up at specific locations. After all it would be strange to find the same lovepoem multiple times carried by different npcs, wouldn't it? And why is this in Adult Mods section? Are these books going to concern the 'Dibellan Arts'? Maybe, but there are other things planned that definitely needs this thread to be in the adult section. Also this lets other requests be more freely since you don't have to take care if the book you want to be written would be underage-friendly.
WaxenFigure Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 In Dawnguard we learned that vampirism came from Molag Bal originally but the name of the virus indicates Sanguine got involved somehow. There's a story to be told in how he got involved and what changes to vampirism came about as a result. Perhaps as Molag Bal originally made it, it was only through him and his ritual that you could be made vampiric but Sanguine got Peryite involved and somehow made it into a disease that could be spread though losing some of the power that Molag Bal originally gave it.
threeddd33 Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 This sounds cool. Will the books lead to quests as the mod comes together? It would be cool to have more interaction with the various deitys and deadra as a result of clues in the books. Or maybe you get sucked into Oblivion... (or worse ) as you finish reading the book in a scene somewhat like Fable 3.

Not bad, not bad. It might be a bit tricky to find a way to let Sanguine and Peryite get involved that still somehow makes sense, but as some from of prank this should turn out to be a good one. I wonder if this should be part of the series "Daedric hoax" or a seperate one. Well, I'll have to decide later. This sounds cool. Will the books lead to quests as the mod comes together? The only thing that I probably would be able to do is a book that shortly after you read would force you to mastrubate or knocks you out; jbezorg tough might be interested in letting SD or sending you into Sanguines realm after you read one of the books. But as I said, thats a matter of him, not me.
Jexsam Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 If you're using UESP for your lore research, then there won't be much we can fill in or add. You might also try The Imperial Library if you want to really dig deep; they have basically every hard canon book there, plus many apocryphal texts that may provide you some interesting information. You've certainly got me curious as to what the adult content involved could be if the Dibellan angle is only a "maybe". Though more than anything I'm interested in seeing some lore-friendly books added that aren't just copypastas from previous games. Definitely keeping an eye on this.

Now that seems to be a good source, thanks. Definitely have to spend some time on reading now. I myself think that writing about Dibella and her "arts" is rather uninteresting. But how about a more explicit and less argonian version of "the lusty argonian maid"? Currently I am working on the "Daedric hoax": multiple tales about Sanguine. One of them will contain him in a disquise of a beautiful, young and slutty girl. He (or maybe better "she") will have locked one man of each race in a manor, promissing to marry the one who beats the other 9 men. Sanguine seduces each one that they are his favoured one, and that the best would be if he kills the other men so that they could be together. Of course only one is alive in the end. Then Sanguine reveals his true guise, laughing hard, since this was the best prank he had done in years.
redwind21 Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Tired of slaying bandits? Too bored to take a drink with Sam "the Sanguine" Guevenne? Do you simply want to sit by the fire, drink some ale and enjoy a good book? Well, then I have a solution for you, my friend, the Library of books Tough the name might imply something different, this thread is for new books written by me, for you. In other words, what you request, may it be for a specific mod or just random, will be written. As you can see this is a [WIP], which means I am already on something, but this doesn't mean I can't collect future ideas or lack a place to ask for lore. There actually are already a few things I'd need to know more than what the casual player knows about: - the 8 Divines in general |_ Mara |_ Dibella - the deadric princes in general |_ Sanguine |_ Molag Bal |_ Hermaeus Mora If you have anything concerning one of these that goes beyond what is written on the various wikies, please post it. Also, just as mentioned, feel free to post any idea or request you might have. Books can sometimes have hidden dangers in and of themselves. Perhaps hidden spells which suck the reader into another dimension, or into the story they are reading at the moment. Perhaps one might even be reading a book of summoning, and accidentally summon a horde of beasts or demons looking for humans to enslave and impregnate in hopes of building a hybrid army to rule the world with. There are a lot of directions you could go in with this. I look forward to seeing what you can come up with. I'm giving Cult of Karleen a try right now. Looks like a good game!
