kamoewarrior Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 I have a couple on my list at the moment, Frostfall, SunHelm, iNeed, and Last Seed. They all look good but I'm looking to get some insight from sexlab users who have used similar mods and how they fare with sexlab addons. For example if I use Dangerous Nights 2 SE the event checks from that mod and sleep needs feature from other mods won't mess up each other? Just any suggestion, recommendation, feedback is appreciated. I've lost count how many times I messed up my game beyond repair so I'm looking to keep it stable this time around.
belegost Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Frostfall is not a needs mod, it just makes Skyrim cold and introduces survival mechanics. Needs Campfire as master, both work in tandem. Good to have Wet&Cold as well if you use it. Make sure to get Campfire Frostfall MCM addon as originals don't have it (they were ported to SE before SKSE64 was made). I use Realistic Needs and Diseases 2.0. Lots of SL mods have integration with it (SL Survival for example). It's old but reliable and is an updated version of original RND. Anything that works with RND will work with RND 2.0. It also introduces light camping mechanics - has buildable basic tents and bedrolls. If you use Campfire you may want to toggle it off in MCM, as the latter has much more in-depth features. It won't conflict but there's no point in having both. RND has standard food/drink/fatigue mechanics but also introduces food spoilage, drunkedness and a chance to catch diseases when drinking unpotted water or sleeping in dirty bedrolls. iNeed is the second popular mod in this category but I never used it. Has some integrations as well and far as I know is a good alternative. SunHelm and LastSeed I never used and don't know anything about them but those being newer and/or less popular, I don't know how well they are supported. I would assume not as much as the two previous ones. I use Campfire/Frostfall/RND combo in all "regular" games, and had been for nearly a decade, ever since Chesko made early versions of Frostfall for Oldrim. I use RND only in my tropical overhaul - no point in Frostfall freezing your ass solid while wearing a bikini in the middle of a jungle. Never had any issues. On top of that I use SL Survival which adds A LOT of things and you'd best go and read about it on its own page in this very forum, there's too many to list, but it dials up the misogyny levels to 11 and makes it harder to survive in Skyrim as a female character.
belegost Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Also I should add: 1. Frostfall is THE survival mod for Skyrim. Full stop. Dont bother with that CC Survival Mode crap which is a watered down, half-assed copy of Frostfall with half the features, written by some schmuck on a knee in one evening. 2. None of the needs mods I listed (with the exception of SL Survival for obvious reasons) interferes with SexLab. They work alongside and I can't imagine a situation where a game would be broken because they somehow conflict. Any issues of that kind are likely caused by something completely unrelated.

Thanks for all the details. I have been pondering about using RND because its been around for as long as I can remember and has obviously stood the test of time compared to other mods of the same nature. Frostfall too its bad I haven't tried it yet. I assume they are both fully configurable? I'm trying to add some survival aspects to my game solely because I just want to add to the usual rotation of roam, kill, loot but not a massive overhaul that demands too much commitment. I was told that Campsites was a lightweight alternative to the Campfire requirement of Frostfall, have you had experience with it by any chance?

No. Never heard of it frankly. Not that I ever looked for Campfire alternative in the first place. Yes, they are configurable. Add Hunterborn or look for hunerborn-esque mods if you want to live hunter's life.

Getting real hard to decide now I've seen nothing but praises to all the mods mentioned in this thread. Actually I've used Hunterborn on pre-LE Skyrim and although I did enjoy it I've recently had my fill of hunting immersion from RDR2 so I don't think I'll be revisiting that one any time soon.
qalavix Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Conversely, I've been using Vitality which is pretty easy. (And Campfire, because placeable objects) Also, same as he said: On 5/24/2022 at 2:37 AM, belegost said: None of the needs mods I listed (with the exception of SL Survival for obvious reasons) interferes with SexLab. As a bonus this one looks pretty lightweight compared to other mods and as the mod page said, positive reinforcement rather than negative reinforcement, and I like that.
