shar181 Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 So I'm preparing to upgrade Skyrim from SE to AE (finally), but before I do that I want to make sure that I have backups of all of my racemenu presets. I spent a lot of time making these girls look good, and I don't want to risk losing them when I update RaceMenu. Problem is, I have no idea how to do this. I'm just kind of assuming its possible, but I've scoured the data folder for anything that looks like its related to RaceMenu, but I haven't found it. Either I'm blind or its hidden someone else. x.x Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Alessia Wellington Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 The presets get saved to Data/SKSE/Plugins/CharGen/Presets. Copy/paste the .jslot files to wherever your backup storage is.
anjenthedog Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Make sure to step back one folder as well, and collect any relevant files. Many Racemenu presets have additional files (nif, dds) that are referred from the CharGen folder. Also, if you've created presets, check the CharGen/Exported/ folder too.

I found the CharGen/Presets folder which has all of my saved presets, but the CharGen folder itself is empty (other than the Presets folder inside it). Is that normal? I haven't actually "exported" anything from RaceMenu; I just saved the presets in-game. Should I be doing something else? :o

Exporting is only needed if you want to turn one of your character into a follower, and want 'em to look exactly the same as the preset.

I'll have to keep that in mind for future reference. Spoiler This is one of the characters being saved, and I think she could make a good follower someday! ?
anjenthedog Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Not all presets have additional files. I was simply warning in case you do have any like that. I have dozens of presets that include nif and a few that also include dds files (makeup overlays I think). If you don't have any, that's ok. Same goes for user created presets that would be located in the /Exported/ folder
