That said, I'm going to look into reinstalling this..... One. Last. Time.

The thing Bethesda hates I think is that in base form, their games are shit. The only redeeming factor Bethesda games have is that people can build amazing mods for them. Youd think they would hire some of these modders to make games.

I have always first played their games in full-vanilla form. It's how I determine what I need/want to make/keep them enjoyable for years.

And you're certainly not entirely wrong,

And that's what really irks me about how they cash-grab every one of them with updates NO ONE ever asked for. Starfield was supposed to

be "Bethesda's most modder friendly game ever" according to Todd Howard in the lead up to it's launch. Yeah, right. Until they threw up so

many roadblocks with their "verified creator" bullshit. It's tool kit STILL doesn't have a publicly accessible page to help speed up the

modding scene. Everything has a dollar value to them.

I remember back to games like EverQuest and Anarchy Online back in the 90's. When devs actually made games for an entirely different reason:

They LOVED gaming.

Now it's all about the money, and milking as much as possible out of every single pixel they create.

You know the biggest complaint I have about Bethesda games? The characters look like crap. Youd think they would get the idea seeing all the mods made to improve that, but no. Instead Bethesda goes out of their way to make characters ugly as possible.

Well...that and the engine.

From now on, I would recommend making a complete backup of any modded game.

I make a copys of the following folders and put them into a .rar file:

Steamapps\common\Fallout4

Documents\MyGames\Fallout4

Appdata\Local\Fallout4

Appdata\Local\ModOrganizer

I started playing Fo4 again after the NG+ update, and I just overwrote everything with my backup.

If steam decides to fuck it up by updating? Replace all files with the backup. Or just the relvant files.

Excellent idea. And thanks for the files to backup. I'd have spent a week trying to figure that out LOL

So that's two things I learned today. The other thing was...... collections suck 🤣

I downloaded a pretty basic one to save a little time while I was at work. And when I got home, I tried loading up the game. Insta-crash.

Thankfully I still had my old load order, so I'm in the process of putting things together now. It's a slow process, so we'll see......

Yes, yes they do. I haven't used a single one.

But then, I've been modding since Fallout 3, so I at least know what I'm doing with installing mods.

If you're using Vortex, I think it's under C/Games

I learned to do this with Cyberpunk 2077 as well. Steam has been waiting to update that for months, but because I can launch it without steam, I can still play the old version where my mods work.

I make a new backup once in a while, or before I make any major changes, like installind a major mod. External hard drives FTW.

I do think it’s a sincere tragedy about what happened.

As a very big fan of both ASIA & IKAROS-Androids, I was really looking forward to seeing what you had in store with Droids. Reading through the posts in this thread was fascinating. Especially since I never got the chance to play with the original version.

Do hope your return to the Commonwealth is fun, though. Make a new interesting memory or two.

I played starfield on the game pass when it first came out, only played for a couple of months before not renewing the pass, I had never even heard of No mans sky till late last year, when one of the youtubers I watch started playing it again, after a few of his followers and patreons said he should give it a try, he last played it about 7-8 years ago and hated it, they said it had changed a lot since then, so he did, he kinda of liked it, but there were still things he hated about it, but did about 10-12 30 minute videos on it before going off to other games, I watched about four or five of his videos and decided I liked what I saw of the game and went and bought a cheap key, while playing no mans, my first thoughts were that this is what starfield was trying to be, but doing it very very poorly.

the Skyrim Together team dropped Starfield, didn't they?

you know, Skyrim, the game where the physics are SO fucked if a snow ape looks at you wrong you fly into orbit.

Arguably the best modding team for THAT game, and I heard they dropped Starfield.

It's got to be an immensely bad backend for that to happen.

This is embarrassing for me to ask, but I have the A.S.I.A. DL but have no idea how to progress with it. I found the Bunker under the ruins with NPs but after that???????.In addition I keep running into stolen sexbots and enslaved sexbots but have no idea what to do with them as the speech interaction is so limited. Do I just ignore them rather than free them?

I think they were originally going to be recruit able as settlers for your settlements, but the mod never got developed far enough for it to happen, they are currently from what I remember just in effect place holders and don't really do much at all in game.

Thank you for the reply! But how do I progress with the  actual A.S.I.A. part? I gather that my SS must move from computer to computer but where does the sequence start and when and where does she get the gen 4 body?

ASIA and Droids of the commonwealth are two different mods, AISA is the first one, droids was in effect the rebuilt of it.

Never really did much with Droids but I think the first terminal is in the room above the truck outside the institutes building, there should also be a hatch in the ground somewhere around it as well, that accesses a small tunnel based base, that has chairs allowing you to change the form of the character, different armour types etc, not too sure where the next terminal is, though from what little I remember the first terminal should give you a hint as to where the next one is.

Thank you for the reply: I have found the sewer and its contents but going over it all I had the impression that I could not gain my Gen 4 body until I did a lot more. I do have the cyberpunk droids installed but have never tried to use it y et as I have my  hands full already : (... In my difficulty coping with Companion Ivy I was thinking of making my char a similar nymphomaniac sexbot to give Ivy some competition but I feel so sorry for her that I could not do it; she is  a tragic figure who has no concept of actual love or fidelity and her creator has locked her into it with no possible escape route so I am not appreciated by him. I just cannot understand someone loving and proud of self abuse...apologies for this as I have tried to hard to help her in game. No need to reply.

Yes, the in effect human style body is a bit later on, not too sure how much later on as I never really got that far through the mod, the mod itself is not really designed to be run through as in effect a quest line, it was something that you were supposed to do as you were moving along the games main quest lines, and during a longer play through.

As for companions I tend to not bother with any of them, I find the ai for all of them annoying as hell, constantly getting in the way, and generally annoying the hell out of me when playing, so I tend to just ignore all of them even the dog, I will get them if forced to then dump them in one of my settlements, if it requires work to actually get them I will just not bother with what is required.

I tried playing this mod a few years ago - somewhere back then, there was a kind of "workaround" for accessing the individual terminals, which unlock access to the level upgrade.

The final development stage (Level 4) is "purely biological" - so you essentially become a "human" again... there are no mechanical "installations" to be found on the character anymore.

And very importantly -> you have no resistance to radioactive radiation.

The underground complex at the CIT is huge (and completely "non-functional" - just a backdrop) - but to get in (or from the small part to the larger part), you simply have to find the right terminal.

Level 3 takes the player into the Yellow Sea - to a "training ground" (that's what he calls it)... in total, you fight against 25-30 androids - no, not individually - they appear almost simultaneously! Once you win, you can return with a "key" (and the location of the last facility - Boston Harbor).

You should keep in mind that you can catch a "virus" (from the BoS) at any time - EVERY terminal in the play area is contaminated... and there's no going back.

This also has something to do with whether your other "comrades" (e.g., in the facilities) are hostile towards you.

On the other hand, groups of (the BoS) "infected" androids also appear - and they hunt you down.

So it's quite a mess.

Thank you for the reply as I still might continue with it.

WRT companions I prefer solo always but the companion perks are very useful so I endure them for a short time. But with the discovery of Heather and Ivy it has become a new ball game: Heather is like my wife: quiet, industrious, reliable, demands little and a sanity/reality post. But Ivy is something different. She is an expert manipulator so that you cannot believe anything she says and her saying "I love you" means nothing as she has NEVER known what true love really is. She has no concept of fidelity and is totally untrustworthy  and yet I know that she does care by the way she protects my char on the battlefield and elsewhere. She enjoys degrading herself and boasts about it and appears disgusting. BUT! If you look more closely at who or what she is you can see how locked in she is and my compassion overloads as in RL I have seen so many similar. My aim was to unlock the very hard door to her that I expected her creator to leave available, but he has shattered this by boasting that there is none and in the expansions it will all be worse. I understand this as mods that degrade and humiliate females has a huge following here on LL and that is Ivy's major selling point.

Looking at her origins and why she supposedly is like she is, I wondered if transferring her mind to a new syn 3 body would be the solution here as the fellow who made her in the game did so to himself. If I could mod I would add this but now I am aiming at 1000 affinity(778 currently) to see if Reg actually has a heart which I doubt as once past 50 affinity  seems to make no difference. Sorry about this and no need to reply.

Thank you for that kind reply: I was horrified by the robotic addons to my char and somehow managed to "lose"them, looking normal once again. Finding the CIT bunker was NP but it was after that where I became stumped as I usually follow a non standard path( obtaining a hazmat suit and one magazine are my primary aims as is hitting level 40 ASAP for the armor weapon upgrades...I use a samurai sword mod for melee and it is incredible when finished: behemoth, deathclaws. nightriders, assaultrons, X0-1 PA enemies all no sweat solo sneak.

WRT Reg and Ivy's history: there are flaws and inconsistencies everywhere, both in the storyline and in the mod but as the mod author he can say ( an apparently do) what he likes here. I gave him logical feedback he took it as criticism.  I hate to think what awaits Ivy in FH. End of story.

Is this mod still in developement ? I'm really hyped and i hope i'll be able to do a game with it one day.

If you read the last posts on the previous couple of pages here, you know as much as we do, so maybe, maybe not, the author has had some absolutely terrible luck with this mod, if they have had more problems they may well have just given up, though I would hope if that is true they would at least drop a note saying it was abandoned and they have given up.

If they give up the mod I would love if they dropped the files for us to use with a "as-is" that would be amazing. But that's asking a lot and they are doing this out of passion so if they don't its understandable.
