I cannot remember when I installed a programm or app the last time and was really like "ok this is good" just switch to a new smartphone and every app I try, including android, the stupid "smart switch" that wanted to transfer data from old phone to the new one is just the definition of an overloaded, annoying malfunction... Then I wanted to use a "smart app" to use whatsapp telegram etc. on a single app (Ferdi, Franz etc.) just to find out that every software out there with that functionality is... hot garbage. The only software that was promising was a fork and required download of the code and compiling from user side... DAFUQ its so funny that I cannot get a software that is really good even for money (adobe.............where indesign exported pdf with checkboxes CAN NOT BE DISPLAYED OR USED CORRECTL IN FCUKING ADOBE READER!!!!! (and it took me TWENTY different pdf programs to test to find one that works with that "Nitro Reader 5, I swear I hope you will not get updated ever so you never stop working!!!)....) and with every version of Windows, android or other so called "OS" the options get less and less or harder to find, a tutorial that is a year old is basically always wrong because it seems ppl have nothing better to do than change EVERYthing just so they can call it a "new version". I m old, yes but I feel like usability, customization options, functionality and standards were like 1000% better 10-20 years ago. The messenger nightmare alone... we have 200000 messengers but none of those is used by everybody (like ... everybody has a mail or mobile phone but that is the end of it.... after decades!!!) where is the smart app that just hooks into those insults of programs and just allows me to send messages to ppl connected to ANY of those apps... hell and then... privacy laws and stuff.... I m from germany and I bet without that stupid idea of privacy of the useless personal data ppl try to protect from... who??? (while using google maps daily...) and the pandemic would have been half as bad to manage. And why do I have to manually set the cookie options on every damned website I visit, is this the middle ages with toll stations on every bridge? Ok, ranting, I know... but I really feel like the digital world is a big fucking mess of giants incapable of really providing high quality stuff (I mean I still wait for google to REALLY show wikipedia first when I search something because I ALWAYS click the wiki link first or like really know what I intend to search or stuff, I mean its the best search engine they say but I feel it knows less and less about me instead of more... where is big data please to make my life easier??! ^^) and small companies or individuals that try to reinvent the wheel while ignoring everything the user really wants or do not know what "user interface" or "useability" means... or that prefer to stare at "beautiful code" instead of a beautiful UI... In some way I feel a similar thing in skyrim modding. Every mod I used lacked a minimum of ONE obvious option that would make that mod awesome and then there were the mod authors ignoring that fact. 5 years of suffering and I finally can make mods myself, haha and it feels really like a relief, like beeing free of a very heavy burden. But what amount of time and effort it would be to do the same for PC/mobile to really have an environment that works? Ok ok, rant over, but the past days were really a fucking nightmare of software trying to spit in my face and I got tired of just ranting on rating websites and throwing around 1 star ratings. do with this what you want, haha. EDIT: ah, I forgot to rant about games.... ELDEN RING: connect with friend ---> 1 hour and a dozen of attemps later we finally are on the same map ---> I die in a fight my friend gets kicked from that instance and has to reconnect.... I mean how is it even legal to sell such games and call them "coop"????

I'm impressed with the controller and with myself for mastering the basics in short order. ?? Currently playing Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning. If I'm pointing in the direction of an enemy I can be quite deadly. The trick is to get the direction right and the swingin' going both at the same time. ? The one thing I can't figure out yet is how to jump from one pane to another in inventory view. ? e.g. when you highlight say a sword in the left pane and the description in the right pane has a scroll bar so need to manipulate in order to read the full text. I downloaded a nudity mod for the game but after an hour of arsing about trying to get it to work I found out that it didn't since the release of the last DLC. No mention of this in the description.

I mean in a world where everything has an app,. even fucking jerking off, who knows what "the button for" the internet is, a browser, file explorer or even a damend PC!!! I already tried a nudity mod for valheim... before deciding that even the left nipple of my skyrim character has more polygons than the whole valheim player model And reminded me of how my first nudity mod ever was turning the Counterstrike (BETA, not the new shit...) hostages into big breasted nude models, haha... oh the sweet past ^^

Guest Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 @Nymra Guten Tach. Well, i am still looking for a functionality in Windows so i can add tags to files and folder and colors. Not sure why that is not a thing yet. Seems its not build in. On the software side, i kind of strictly stay (if i can) with opensource. Adobe is way to expensive for me, even though its the go to for everything. At the moment, i browsing with Vivaldi and i have to say i like it. Though this website seems to lag a lot. Part opensource, part closed. On phones, i have an iPhone 8, i gave up on most apps. Besides the usual app, i do not have a lot of apps. I use the phone as a phone mostly. I am not active in social media besides Whatsapp. Though not by choice but by need. Not a lot of people want to switch just because i like an app. For maps i use OSMandMaps which is based on openmaps. Works kind of well. Navigation is a hit and miss for me. I am still liking Linux though i find myself always back at Windows. Mostly because of some games or because it works just easier on Windows. Now, i gave up on Bethesda, because i overplayed the game to death. So i am not having to worry too much about questions like why is the Chasity belt not working or why is not loading. Or whatever. I just play now what i like. Currently playing more Battlefield. Mostly 3 & 4. To me there isn't a software where i would say, i love it. Sometimes i feel like that my Amiga days were greater. Though this is in retrospect. So there is a lot of nostalgia. I do not know, but the older i am getting the lesser new software i have. I have what i know and works, and that is pretty much it. I mean how many apps do you really need in life? (for smarty phones)

It would have taken years to guess that. Not that it helps much. "Managing" cookies really annoys me. If a website doesn't have a 'reject all' within two clicks then I go elsewhere. And all the Let's plays, walkthroughs, how-tos etc that we have to "get right into it without further ado".
