xtremeGoose Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 During cell transitions, there's a race condition on specific vanilla service quests that use the location alias as a conditional. Apparently grabbing the location alias is not thread safe in LE, hence can return NULL or timeout which in turns causes a CTD. In unmodded LE, the location alias basically always returns before it's used, but in heavy load orders this is not necessarily the case. This is not fixed by USLEEP. About a year ago, Mitradis somehow figured this out and uranreactor uploaded a fix. He has a nice write up on what the issue is and how they fixed it along with the patch: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/108260?tab=description This should pretty much impact everyone who has a very heavy load order on LE, so if you're pulling your hair out trying to figure out why using a couple mods alone is entirely fine, but causes crashes for you in your actual load order during cell transitions, now you know why.
donttouchmethere Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 I have it in my load order now and it had no negative effect so far ?

I got a little over 40 hours of gameplay in a playthrough right now with said mod. Haven't had any ctds in applicable locations, and I do a lot of running...

Last time I got it was down to using a backported mod. That one was reproducible (it was actually two mods by same author - one was Whiterun and the other Windhelm (I think).
