TheWilloughbian Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 I was trying to grab the files for the last build of SE 1.5.97 just to archive and play around with and for making various builds of Skyrim and noticed that the one disk depot from five years ago included the AE mods (fishing, survival mode, ect) so I did a little more reading and saw a post saying the old depots had been removed or changed. Is this correct? Thanks.
Just Don't Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 I remember reading something similar, but afaik it's still possible to use depot commands to get previous versions https://stepmodifications.org/forum/topic/16280-howto-reinstall-skyrim-se-1597-if-you-dont-have-a-backup/page/2/ And if that fails you can use the Downgrade patcher.

Yeah I have that downgrade patcher going. But I've been finding some errors in some of the base game ESMs and though it might be better to do a manual downgrade. I'll see what more I can find. Maybe just need to have the old depot IDs to get at the file version desired. Thanks for the links.
27X Posted March 19, 2022 Posted March 19, 2022 Given the financial hit involved otherwise, the depots are almost 100% still there, just Like LE, unless they contain something exploitable or cause catastrophic crashes.

Well, this is the one that has me confused. Skyrim Special Edition disk (Depot 489831) · Manifests · SteamDB This page seems to indicate that the one file is from five years ago. But the page it is linked to seems to say the file was created only a few months ago. It's been so long since I have done this, I'm having a hard time remembering how to make sure I'm looking at the right files.
TheWilloughbian Posted March 19, 2022 Author Posted March 19, 2022 So, the short answer is "NO, it is not true that the old Skyrim SE files have been removed from Steam DB". Skyrim SE 1.5.97 exe: -app 489830 -depot 489833 -manifest 2289561010626853674 disk: -app 489830 -depot 489831 -manifest 7848722008564294070 core: -app 489830 -depot 489832 -manifest 8702665189575304780 Thanks for your help guys!

But yeah, I gave that a go and there were some errors in the Update ESM. I think it may have had something to do with some issue with language translation. I have the Skyrim SE install running from just the depot files now, so I'm good.
Adviser69 Posted March 24, 2022 Posted March 24, 2022 The author of the downgrade patcher also released this mod that downloads a fresh copy from SteamDB for you. A lot simpler.

A lot simpler. Yeah. I saw that one too. My purpose was more to just have the files from SteamDB to archive in case I need them. Also, to refresh my memory on how to use the Depot Downloader. I just think it's good practice to know how to do things manually.
ohsnapdragon Posted April 2, 2022 Posted April 2, 2022 Just a side note, but 99.9999% of mods, including the big ones, are AE compatible now. I have also been holding back for the same reason, but took the leap a few weeks ago and have been pleasantly surprised.
