Need Ultrabright Sourceless Candlelight Spell- or Plugin Editing Advice

I'm currently using a mod named "Illuminate - Improved Candlelight and Magelight Spells" in my SSE 1.5.97 (non-AE) game. It works perfectly, but like all Candlelight clones and/or derivatives, it has an actinic "nuclear spotlight" light source hovering right in front of the 3P camera, so bright it prevents playing in 3rd person- my preferred mode of play.

Does anyone know of

  • a sourceless light spell that reveals dark corners at ridiculous range without shining a nuclear spotlight into my eyes; OR
  • some guidance on which plugin record or parameter I need to edit to prevent the game from rendering the source-point of the light

As info, I realize that what I am requesting is a NightEye mod on steroids with no blue tint, but NightEye doesn't work with my ENB so that's why I'm not madly downloading Enhanced NightEye mods and tweaking the range and intensity and removing the deathly-blue overlay.

The Illuminate mod has been set to "hidden" on the Nexus, which is where I got it, but it's still available for Oldrim so I'm guessing the author hid it only for SSE due to the Nexus's newfound infatuation with modlists in SSE and FO4. Therefore, respecting his/her (assumed) wishes, I'm not posting the mod here even though I might get better/quicker responses by doing so. If anyone wants to have a look at the plugin with an eye to telling me what to edit, I can PM it to her/him. That said, under the assumption that the Oldrim version of the mod might be identical or at least epically similar :classic_wacko: to the now-hidden SSE mod, here's a link to the Oldrim Illuminate mod in case anybody wants to try it out in their game to see what I'm talking about. Warning: shades or welding goggles required for 3P views to protect your eyes!

He only switched his Quick Light off once at Mannheim and we all know how that went.

Choices are:

Latern

Magelight

No visual light source (my fav)

It doesn't cost MP and is easy to activate and deactivate

Also choices about light intensity and range.

Has MCM!

Also great alternative to wearing torches in your butt or holding a lantern during sex ?

wearing torches in your butt

A man brought me flowers on Valentine's Day.

"Well," I gushed at him, "I guess this means I have to spend the rest of the day on my back with my legs in the air..."

"Damn, girl," he replied, "Don't you have a vase?"

I have now tested this mod for two play-nights and sadly, while it is "practically perfect in every way," the area it illuminates is too small for me, since I'm used to Illuminate, and it will not accept my preferred means of toggling it- LB+Dpad Up.

I have Googled around several times, but every hit I get turns out to be about improving Skyrim's lightING (ELO, CoT, etc.) and not about creating/modifying a light, specifically eliminating the source while retaining the effect.

I have tried to compare the plugins of the two mods- Illuminate and Quicklight, but I can't figure out a way to get SSEEdit to give me side-by-side comparison windows, so I'm reduced to jotting down parameters and values. That got unbearable after 2 hours with no clue where the source-visibility setting might be and I rage-quit and embarked on a wine break.

As far as how each of the two mods handles activation, I greatly prefer Illuminate's scheme, which operates via an equippable item (I chose a ring) to trigger the light. This preference is driven by my use of a controller instead of KB+M, and my "area floodlight" ring is mapped to "LB+Dpad Up," or "alt Dpad Up," or "Dpad 5," all of which describe the same user input- and QuickLight, while it allows controller buttons, does not seem to allow Combo buttons.

All I need to do is eliminate the SOURCE depiction from the Illuminate mod's self-targeted light and I'd be happy. Sadly, there seems to be no info anywhere showing how that might be done. So thanks for your suggestion- the Quicklight mod would be great for me if it (a) lit up a wider area on the max setting ("wide") and (b) activatable via a controller combo.
