Nohrin Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Been using Sexlab for the longest time, but I've never bothered in learning how to keep all my animation position edits I make each playthrough. They never seem to truly save beyond a single character. Sexlab has the import and export MCM feature, which I assume also saves any animation position changes you make. I have been relying on that. But whenever I make a new character after a long playthrough, all the animation changes I made never seem to pass on after importing. Then there is SLAL, which has a "reapply json settings" button. I also assume this is reapplying the changes saved on the json that is created/modified after exporting your Sexlab MCM. Then there are other buttons you can press, which may or may not reset the animations to default. Buttons like Clean Up. Perhaps I have been exporting my animations by mistake before reapplying them, effectively saving the "defaults"? But I always make sure to "import" after pressing the Clean Up button in Sexlab (which I rarely do, only when things aren't working). I figure as long as I import before exporting, I should never accidently export a default set of Animations, and yet every brand new character ends up with the default positions that are always off by some degree. With hundreds of animations, its very hard to keep track of the ones I have edited and the ones I never have gotten around to editing. And its very time consuming on each new character to spend 10-20 seconds per animation correcting it. Those 10-20 seconds add up quickly over time with hundreds of animations. I just want a nice and easy "import" and done, everything set before is back. But I don't know why they are either not saving correctly, or somewhere along the line I am exporting default animations, to my ignorance. I should note that I only play a single race (Breton) and I have the setting that evens all races heights-mid scene activated. It also saves across all races. So in theory, each race should be same height and I only have to edit an animation once to affect all races (instead of doing each race individually). edit: When I make a new character, this is my usual step by step process I do when setting up MCM's for Sexlab. 1. Go into Sexlab MCM and enable it. 2. Once it says Sexlab's installed, I 3. Go into SLAL and enable all animations 4. I click register and wait for it to register them 5. I then click "reapply Json settings" 6. I then go back into Sexlab and click "import" to import my MCM settings and animation changes The only way I could see this going wrong is if I were to press Export instead of import. But I always take note not to do that.
Seijin8 Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 I don't have this problem, and do at least one new playthrough every couple of months. All adjustments reload as expected. Only real difference I see is that I import the settings in SL's MCM (your step 6) before touching SLAL at all. Strictly, on a new playthrough I will: 1) set up all non-Sexlab stuff first. 2) Save, quit, reload to get things like SLIF to register properly 3) Apply "MCM Custom Order" which I have set-up to place all MCMs I regularly use at the top of the list (mostly Sexlab stuff). 4) Once that is done, I embark on the various SL-related mod setups... a) Import SOS settings and restart SOS b) Start SL (if it hasn't already auto-fired previously) c) Import in SL d) Setup SLAL e) Register all enabled animations f) Recheck once finished to make sure it didn't miss any (it usually leaves 4-10 of Anub's unregistered for some reason) g) Run SLATE h) Make a new save (usually called "SLALnSLATE" 5) Save, quit, check the save file for any script issues (there's usually one or two). Depending on severity, may just leave any issues for later or clean the save right there 6) Reload, finish setting up things like SLIF/FHU/Cumshot/etc. And I never have the position adjustments get lost. Keep in mind I'm using MO, and have most everything that would be in overwrite in a series of folders for keeping settings intact. Dunno if that helps, but best of luck on fixing this. I'd hate to lose all the adjustments every time.
nilead Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Im not sure if reapply .json settings is neccecery, never bothered with it, unless i updated SLAL packs that had updates to previous animations. Just importing SL settings works well just fine for me. One thing that can help is sexlab utility plus. It found its animation profiles to be considerably more usable, as they allow to use the same scale+gender combination across all races. Other than that - id double check SL installation. Default profile export should work just fine.
Nohrin Posted December 19, 2021 Author Posted December 19, 2021 I wonder if "reapply .json" from SLAL is fucking me then...

greenmango12 Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 I think,, SLAL MCM menu reapply json is not related with sexlab modified animation actor position. If you custom edit each animation pack json (eg.. Anubs_human.json) n,, you may need to reload the json. then animation pack will be up-dated. if you do not edit those SLAL pack json, you do not need it.. From Sexlab MCM menu, export import Animation setting should keep your edit for each Animation I suppose. Check AnimationProflie_1.json in your mod manager,, SKSE/plugins/sexlab by text editor. you may see like this. if you have edit Actor pos in game, (with sexlab short cut key), then export Animation setting, it will be up-dated. though I have never tired to manually edit them, but I suppose,, the position seems saved for each Race and gender. so if you add new race, I suppose it might not work.. untill you adjust it for the race.. (do not know if there is option, which used for all race though,, usually we need to make profile for each race,,,, (most of case)... or it not work well.. without all race keep same height.. and body.. === btw I do not clear remember, if LE offer same profile system about animation alignment. I am long SUP user, then I got profile json. Though I do not read all detail about SUP profile system, but if you have interesting try SUP it offer more options to adjust alignment. The description page, bottom area of SUP, you may find this description. Also exist three toggle option to take in count ("Match Creature Genders", "Race/Gender Specific Adjustments" and "Even Actors Height") the combination of these affect the structure of the "Animation Profile" Then reveal hidden content>> will show more detail about profile options. I seldom change it though...
