SexLab did not work anymore

Hello,

I have a serious problem with the update of t skyrim se and the new anniversary edition.

Unfortunaly, I missed the warning and did not disable the automatic update in Steam, before the update came in - are the mods lost until they are updated?

I am using SSE and the update completely wiped out SexLab and some few other mods.

I installed the new version of the SKSE in order to be able to load SSE and had to find out that many things no longer worked.

I am at a loss what to do now. I uninstalled the mods and then reinstalled them and nothing happend...

Can anybody help me?

ab,

You're not alone. If you remember back when SSE dropped there was a period where a lot of mods weren't working. Personally, I tried going back to Oldrim and now I remember how buggy it was and am more appreciative of SSE and all the authors who spent their time getting my favorite mods to work. Good luck! Please share if you find a fix!

Reinstalling mods won't solve anything, SKSE needs to be properly released for the current game version. Most mods with an skse plugin (dll) needs to be remade for this new SKSE version too. As pretty much every previous SE update. I think this is going to be a long wait.

Your immediate solution is Going back to version 1.5.97 with the Downgrade patcher (on nexusmods), using the Steam console or downloading the backup files from other users (I've seen some links posted around here, but my recommendation would be exhaust the first 2 options first).

Something i wonder for a while now, does this really work i mean the backups from other folks? We pretty much wrack the shit out of our skyrim installs while putting mods into the game, i always thought these alterations would modify these files too ? So my backups could get used by other people without problems?

All you need is the original 1.5.97 executable (and a dll that was replaced in this last update). SKSE 2.0.19/2.0.20 and every mod made for these versions will work as usual. No other file matters here, there are people who even did the 1.6 update, then reverted the exe and dll files from 1.5.97 and now they have all the free CC stuff and can still play with their 1.5 mods.

Alright, thank you for clarifying this for me :)

I have a similar problem to you, but mine is more complex. I had skyrim set up on my E disk, but whem the auto update happened, steam installed the update on my C disk, which was then full, causing total mayhem.

I managed to make space and reinstalled the update on C. I then installed the new SKSE64 beta version (2.0.20) that is supposed to be more or less ok with running mods  on the new version.

On vortex, I then reinstalled the sexlabframework and the SOS and related files kept running FNIS until there were no errors, and sorted the load order.  At this point everything looked fine on Vortex. I then launched skyrim SE from outside steam and loaded my last clean save.

The first error I got on the load screen "Slongs of Skyrim not found" "found -1 expected 300004" The second message I got was that it couldn't find SexlabUtil.dll in the plugins folder, missing file please reinstall! I tried loading a previous save , and got the same errors

Reinstalling didnt change anything, so I checked in c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\Data\SKSE\Plugins, and both SexLabUtil.dll and are both present. As there were errors, I would have thought that the mod configuration would be blank or have missing items but this is not the case , all my configurations are still there!

It's obvious that something is totally screwed either
By the new version not being compatible (Is anybody else having similar problems?
or by

The change of disk  - maybe the program is trying to launch from E or is not looking in the right place, in which case what can I do to find a solution

Help!!!! PLEASE can anybody suggest something

Many thanks

This is incorrect.

  • 2.0.20 was the last release for Skyrim SE 1.5.97.
  • The SKSE releases for Skyrim SE 1.6 are still preliminary, not for regular use.
  • You still need to wait for other mods to update for the latest SE and SKSE version, which hasn't happened yet for mods like SOS or Sexlab.

If you want to keep playing check the options available to downgrade your game (or if you say your Skyrim SE was updated in C but you had it installed in E, perhaps you still have the exe and dll files required to downgrade in there). And disable automatic updates.
