FNIS Creature Pack has a blue '?' next to it in Sexlab mcm

As the title says, it has a blue checkmark next to it when installing Sexlab into a new save, despite it working fine on previous saves / worlds.

I'm using the NexusModManager. When I run the Generate FNIS tool, it has no detected issues, and creature animations are present.

Sexlab says it's not an issue when installing Sexlab, however, it says there are 0/1200 creature animations once installed, despite me having creature animations on other saves where the FNIS creaturepack works fine and has no detected issues.

I've looked into the skyrim files and the 'FNIS Creature Pack7.6' file has only a readme.txt, is this normal? if it is, where are the relevant files for the creature pack?

It is possible that the creature pack may have been somehow overwritten because of a animation pack I installed; 'SLAL NibblesAnim' had requested to overwrite some files, I saw nothing related to FNIS, or any other core mods, but I don't remember what the files that were overwritten were.

If that is the problem, is there a way to repair the relevant mods? I've deleted the creature pack and reinstalled it, but it hasn't worked.

Sorry if the answer to this is simple, I'm not used to modding such a janky game. Any help is appreciated.

unless I misunderstood you and the FNIS creature version wasn't your issue^^

If you didn't already you have to activate creature animations in SL MCM (first page, not active by default) > this will activate and register basic creature animations

Any further animations will have to be registered via SLAL.

No, it's not the version of the creature pack. It works fine on other previous saves, but not new saves, so something has changed.

I'm not sure what you mean by

'If you didn't already you have to activate creature animations in SL MCM (first page, not active by default) > this will activate and register basic creature animations'

The only thing that comes up when I open the sexlab mcm when starting a new game (save, world), is a 'prerequisite check' in which the blue checkmark next to the FNIS creature pack appears. There is no option to 'turn on' anything besides sexlab itself in the sexlab mcm, nor is there an option to turn on the pack in a different mcm. It should be on and fine by default. As I said it works fine on previous saves, saves that were created and work before the events I described in the original question.

There is one more thing I noticed. When I go into previous saves, the SLAL mcm is not present. It only became a thing once I downloaded the animation pack (SLAL NibblesAnim).

So I still believe it has something to do with the pack I added, and not the creature pack itself.

The pack works fine in new saves (except creature relative animations) because I can enable it with the now present SLAL mcm (which isn't present in previous saves, even when I've refreshed the mcm)

> this is normal if you use FNIS creature pack 7.6, because SL can't read the version from 7.6, to fix that you can use the link I posted to get a patch

Normally if you start a new game SL needs to activated first via MCM, after that you need to activate in SL MCM creature animations (they aren't active by default)

(I fear you start with an old save to circumvent the vanilla intro sequence instead of an alternative start mod)

That sounds bad lol

Usually if you start a new game SL isn't active yet.

do you have a screenshot of your SL MCM? first tab and the last tab.

You mean the "?" in SL MCM or that you installed nibbles, that isn't so 100% clear.

The "?" if shown only behind FNIS 7.6 in SL MCM can be either ignored or patched. I guess you just saw that now because you installed a SLAL pack and something went bad.

yes, that's not a good idea.

Two posibilities:

> run FNIS to rebuild the registered animations and if that doesn't help:

> uninstall Nibbles SLAL pack (because NMM remembers what was overwritten, if you uninstall Nibbles NMM will rebuild the overwritten file)

> choose De-Install creatures in FNIS generator

> install Nibbles SLAL pack again but don't overwrite anything

> and after that run FNIS for users again

(in list of what you said)

1. That fixed it (mostly). When I originally found the problem, I had enabled creature animations, but there was another mod that was breaking it, so it was removed awhile before this.

1.5. I use a skip intro mod.

2. I'm not sure where screenshots are stored in skyrim, and the problem is (mostly) fixed.

3. I meant in SL mcm.

3.5. Yeah I guess when I noticed the blue checkmark I put a greater significance on it because I thought it was relevant, and forgot that it's been present all the time.

4. & onwards. Problem is (mostly) fixed; SL Animation Loader is not present in previous saves, but is in new saves. I've ran the 'setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance_1' command, I've also had SL refresh SL related mods, but it hasn't appeared. That's the only problem I have now.

Thanks for helping

What mod overwrote FNIS creature animations and what means "mostly"?

Mysterious. Maybe a mod like LAL would help you more, it gives you the time to prepare your game before entering Skyrim.

Good for testing if your LO works.

in Skyrim root folder by default

mostly = not fixed, because the bugs come out at night... mostly ^^

New saves means after a new game start? That would be a good thing.

Previous saves means some game you modified a lot that might be broken now and you load that save after creating a new game?

If SLAL doesn't show up and you call that "your only problem" your more optimistic than me ?

also make sure you have https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/563-jcontainers/ installed and didn't overwrote it with anything.

SLAL not showing up might be bad for your old saves, but if it shows up on a new game that is what I call progress!

Are the old saves you are talking about related to this?:

My guess would be that your old saves struggle to work after changing so much o your LO.

I recommend a new game and test first if what you installed so far now works now.

If you want to experiment with your older saves:

check your old save if it needs cleaning with FallrimTools > after that load the old save after a new game start > after loading wait one hour and save again > load the new save and hope SLAL shows up. If not I fear you need to start a new game after manipulating your LO so much.

I never tried to add SLAL on an old game, but I wouldn't even try after adding SLAL, MNC SLAL and more to an old game.

If you aren't sure yet how your mod setup should look like for any longer game and you just test out various mods, I recommend to do only short test runs first while experimenting with the LO.
