loverslab age verification?

Having to enter their birthdate will stop them dead in their tracks!

Wait why does it say everybody is born january 1st 1900?

What, are the rest of you guys not 113 years old too?

I really think that the whole age verification thing is only ever going to be a guidance thing anyway. I played GTA when I was 12, and, aside from all the murdering prostitutes and bank robberies, it's done me no harm. So long as there's something saying "this is for adults, yo?" then that's probably as good as it's going to get. The rest is down to the kids, and their parents, to know what they're mature enough to deal with.

for me you can't tell someone especialy kids not to discovert they will know anyway that things exist or not

in the moment that the hormones start to play in someones body the person needs to discovert and take what he wants

parents are here normaly to explain what can be shocking and what is "normal for them".

it is the same as horor movies you can not say to a kid not to watch it (he will without your permission ).  parents are here to take care of their children not only by providing money but providing protection, moral confort, explaination and understanding of things.

if parents doesn't know how to do they scream for god morals and forbidden every thing .

and do not minimise the brain of kids from 12 they take it more as a jock than some adults .

just for your protection you need to write that your mod is for adult only

Whaaaat? Mine clearly says 1993, and the year after that it'll say 1994, and the year after that it'll say 1995...so on and so forth.

Also, I feel horrible upon the realization that 1993 was twenty years ago...

I had a thought in which what really matters more is user behavior/"emotional age" and the quality of the content he/she generates -- posts, pictures, files, discussion, etc. -- than biological age.

Yes, That's a proper way to put one.

The kids act a child, think like a child, behave like a child, Even if they are on puberty. Regardless they are not fully develop and ready to view certain materials. Not sure if the op ready to baby sit & reply them appropriately.

..Gonna lay off the mod topic for a bit and browse other boards.

This is how forum tyranny of the banning game begins. I don't care old or young you are, if you can take, enjoy it. I found my older brother's Playboy collection when I was seven years old and I thoroughly loved it!

If anything, I'd be suspicious of a child who was upfront and honest about it. More than likely, they're the FBI trying to catch pedos or something.

I don't always get the whole age verification it's not like "Iam 17.5 aaaand EEW PORN" and than when you get 18 you all of the sudden you can take it... :\

Although i believe that 15 year olds don't really belong here...

Need age verification as front page for legal reasons. Other than that, doesn't matter. Site may even have one without me knowing, and remove it for registered members.

Lied about my age plenty when I was still underage. I turned out fine... Mostly.

Does anyone put their actual birthdate on online sites? I seem to never do that anymore cause I'm so used to selecting something crazy like January 1st, 1900

And no I'm not actually 24 I'm 23, WHACHYA GONNA DO ABOUT IT?

I'll have you now I don't look a day over thir......uhm never mind  :P

Age verification really is as Ashal said a complete waste of time if you're good at math and recalling dates you can easily fool those things you can even fool humans if you're really good and want to go to an 21+ club....I swear I've never done this in my youth.

The best age verificatin system I saw was a series of ten questions based on the age you provided.

The questions seemed very innocent but from your answers they would tell you exactly how old you really were.

If you tried again, the questions were completely different.   We tried several times to break through even using the internet to help us with the answers.

Each time we gave the incorrect age, it would tell us we were lying and boot us out.

So finally we decided to give our correct age and the answer came back   " there now, that wasn't so hard was it?"  " now go away before we send an e-mail to your parents"

I have an understanding there are some laws about adult sites about adding disclaimers of membership, and some age restrictions.

But I know under aged ones (specially men) are all hormoned-up passing through adolescence... That means horny as fuck

So If I were and underage young schoolboy getting increasingly horny and looking for porn to satisfy puberty and nature's calling and a message pops up asking me if Im 18

Uhhh.... let me think....

"Yeah think Im I gonna say Im 15"

  Yeah right...

Unfortunately until now I had not known of an effective method

Perhaps porn should not be "forbidden" but rather controlled and more advertised maybe... (just Ideas, Im really not sure of anything now..)

In some analysis shows up that people who are forbidden something (In this case watching porn) tend to get obsessive about it and become worse deviant perverts than people who had their wishes fulfilled (In this case, the wish of watching porn)

The most effective method of keeping children away from things, Is education, a very good parental education and guidance

In this case education and guidance does not mean forbidding things, strangely enough it means sometimes explaining your kids what is it, with a relaxed and wise perspective

Not as if it is a sin or something to condemn or forbid, just something that exists. The taboo feeling goes away and the allure of perversion can even be considered "boring"

Its a rare psychological effect indeed, but Ive heard of some some studies on it. Families that educate their children on sane use of social alcohol for example tend to have less problems of alcoholism than families who tell their children "alcohol is forbidden until you turn 18"

What, is there some kind of a "magic barrier" that breaks out? you just "happen" to develop a more responsible mind in the exact second you turn 18? does your brain "evolve" in a matter of seconds?

Complicated subject indeed...

Disclaimers totally fulfill the law, but they are useless as shit

Only parents and education have some power here

Although all I said above, gets questioned by this "mysterious age test" the user above mentions...

Just how accurate can it be?

How does it work?

How can you possibly not be able to answer anything other than your real age when you have the whole of the internet as your resource for information?

This sounds really really strange and mysterious, and to tell the truth, it sounds impossible and unbelievable

But stranger things have happened...

I'm not sure that there's a whole lot you can do about this, many people have tried and failed. Ultimately, if the parents of said children are too technologically illiterate as to monitor what they view on the internet, then there's really only one group of people at fault. Another thing that you need to consider is that putting more security measures in place might prompt the natural sense of curiosity that most people, especially the young, have. In short, it's like placing a sign on a cookie jar that says "DO NOT TOUCH".. most kids are going to become curious and just touch it.

It's a tricky subject, but I would say that it's the parents that are at fault for the most part. You can't really monitor everything your kids do though, regardless, I'm sure that when under-aged individuals stumble upon the content here, they will find out very quickly if they want to remain here or not.

I don't know if he actually said this, but in an interview Hugh Hefner said that the world wasn't made for children.

This may be odd and late to ask for age verification for loverslab users. But emily aware of the existense of under age player or under 17 Y.o kids among us.

And it made emily feels bad to teachs them strange fetishes and spartan tea bagging.

Like age verification ever stopped anyone from watching porn ;)!!

Actually the plug-ins itself are the age verification.

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/17374-oblivion-adult-mods-confusion/

If the player can't manage a simple ordeal on their own or with expert guidance, Then the game itself will reject their unworthy player. Regardless their current age, be it 30 Y.O or 12 Y.O.

After contemplating about male, emily realized age are hardly matter.

If they can handle the consequences, then they deserve all the reward & bounty.

....

(Not to mention the luxury of making mistakes. Still someone had to baby shit them.)

Term of use?

Is it really sufficient?

Kids are watching us yu no.

Of course you are right, having an 18+ disclaimer does wonders for the host, but cannot provide any real control. Kids lie. However the only effective method of age restriction I have seen present on the internet has been the requirement of a valid credit card. This method has a whole host of issues though and really wouldn't be a good fit for a website like this, nor is it really necessary here. The content here doesn't not contain images of real people and acts, and there is nothing for sale.

But while you say " kids are watching us", I have to ask how you are acting on that in real life? I mean if this is a concern of not exposing kids to sex, does that mean you have eliminated sex from your real life? If so does that mean you have just one kid because you eliminate sex from your life so as not to expose the child accidently? What I mean by this is simply kids are watching us, yes, but it is our individual responsibility as adults either as parents or siblings to ensure our adult activities are not reflected on children in a negative fashion.

This board is mainly focused on Bethesda titles anyway and those are rated 17+ so really the site doesn't have to tell you every time you login that it is 18+, it's already a mature game, we just make it...more mature. Plus it's not like it would stop anyone from looking.

True, all you would have to do is press "yes"

True but the reason so many sites with adult content have that is to avoid legal issues with overprotective parents suing them over their content being accessed by kids. Putting in a disclaimer or age verification system basically is saying, "If you enter here you are doing it of your own free will knowing the content, and we are not liable to any potential harm it may cause."
