About screenshots:

I disabled the screen shot key of Steam altogether, and when I take a screen shot, it activates the screen shot function of my OS.

Perhaps that tweak works for you as well guys?

Keep me posted!

@tigers  @Golden Power

does steam recognize the screenshots for upload if you move it to the screenshots folder?

Posted (edited)

I uploaded stuff to my friends on Steam. It was a bit of a fuzz, having to browse to my screen shot folder. That interface could use some revamping, imo. A drag & drop option would've been nice.

But if you face this issue regularly, you could try to set MyPictures to be your Steam screen shot folder. That would nicely shortcut the whole thing, I think. Assuming ofc that that is where your OS stores its screen shots.

so just moving the pictures to the default screenshots folder whichever is used for screenshots by steam for that game, will allow steam to recognize that shot? No need to change file names or anything?

@tigers

Step 1: disable the Steam screen shot key,

Step 2: Take a screen sot and see where it is stored,

Step 3: Change the screen shot folder in your Steam account settings

It sounds much like a colliding-drivers issue. I just wonder how a mod can interfere with drivers?

Perhaps the d3d11.dll that comes with the mod needs an update from somewhere?

I am not sure what you guys are doing wrong. I just want to say that 3dmigoto in general is not the issue here. I am using 3dmigoto mods and my controllers and steam overlay work fine in several games.

Sadly I don't have a copy of ToCS yet so I can't check stuff out and see what's happening. I don't know if there is some setting in the d3dx.ini that will interfere with steam if it's turned on but I can say that the default settings of 3dmigoto won't interfere. You could check out the default d3dx.ini and make it work with your shaderfixes used for ToCS to see if it helps.

I installed the new mods from @S_S_Majin with the swimsuit mods. However, when I start the game, I get red messages in my screen that dissipate soon.

All mods are in a single directory with file names that don't tell with which mod they go. My request is to put the files into directories that have relevant names, making it easier to select which ones we like, and to update the dxd11.ini file to hold the red messages.

subject 2

I noticed that the mods are kinda spread out across the site. Idk if there's a possibility on this site to keep the downloads together in a section associated with @S_S_Majin and @Teosz?

The main site from Teosz doesn't mention the towel mods and the swimsuit mods. Mentioning those on that page may boost the popularity of the mods.

subject 3

The thread from S_S_Majin also mentioned that there are ToCS 3 nude patches somewhere, but I couldn't find them. I am very interested to look into them. Are they on LL somewhere?

Kindly,

T.

You say you've never played TOCS on Steam using PS4 controller and these mods so you're not the best person to comment here. If you actually take the time and patience to read my previous posts you will read that I've successfully used 3d migoto in the past on different steam games with PS4 controller without a problem.

I've played Bulletgirls Phantasia with 3d migoto nude mods on Steam with my PS4 controller without a problem. Same with Trails of Cold Steel 3. So it is not, as you say, "something I'm doing wrong".

There is a compatibility issue somewhere. The mods works just fine for me if I'm ok with them disabling my ps4 controller. I'm not ok with that and neither are other users and that's what we are trying to figure out about here. If you haven't even tried it yourself what are you even commenting about it for?

The first assumption people always seem to jump to is that we, the users, are doing something wrong. There's already been posts saying that and it's not really accurate.

@Golden Power

Helping organizations with practical computer issues and automization is my profession.

The user himself is always the first thing that needs to be verified ofc; if that is the case, no other solutions are going to work, period.

I realize that it is frustrating when computers relentlessly refuse to do what you want; I helped administrative operatives who were literally crying over their computer. But although I do understand why, I advice you to heed snapping. Take a deep breath and reread your posts before clicking "Submit".

The more I hear, the more I think you're right about it being a compatibility problem, as I stated before in the colliding-drivers post.

It would be helpful if you could give us more info about your issue. Screen shots showing your Steam settings and system settings that may be relevant. That way we can compare notes among ppl who do and who do not have that issue. What graphic card do you use and on which OS? laptop or desktop?

When we know more, we can come up with hypotheses that are more educated.

I saw 3dmigoto getting demonized for controller/steam issues in multiple threads, especially by @tigers. I just wanted to make sure people don't blame 3dmigto for all their issues. Instead of just blaming 3dmigoto you should try to actually zone in on the issue. Especially because the version used here is clearly a copy paste with some changes from DoAVV, which is fine but may be the actual cause of your problems. I suggested a possible solution, you guys could try by building the base mod yourself. It's not even that hard to do. Just extract the 3dmigoto zip from the git and edit in your shaderoverrides. See if it helps and if it does edit back in all the features from the DoAVV version.

But instead you just assume random BS and call me out for not getting the game and trying to give constructive help?

Another thing you could try is starting the game without mods and make sure steam overlay/controller work, then hook into the process using the 3dmigoto loader to load the mods. If there is a compatibility issue the hook will fail.

@fraggerman @Tiressia @Golden Power

Allow me to butt in to my own thread. The two dll-s, used for the hook, are the exact same, what are coming with the latest release of 3D Migoto. Sure enough the .ini is different. I've used the DoAVV ini at first, but after that I've switched it with a different one, and the controller and steam overlay issue still persisted. We don't even need all the fancy things used in those .ini-s. I've read through and through these ini files and didn't find anything, what should collide with controllers or the overlays. To be honest, all these are speculations however, since I am pretty new with 3D Migoto myself, I am far from knowing every settings.

I've never thought this might be such a big issue, but I guess everyone got different priorties. What I can promise, is to replace the ini file, as suggested, with the original, and we'll see if the issue vanished or not. That seems to be the only logical option here. However I can't test for any of these, since I don't have a PS4 controller and I only own the GOG version (the overlay doesn't work there either).

@Golden Power You've said, that you played with 3D Migoto mods for other games, that had working controllers and overlays. Could you PM me one of the ini files, so I can compare them. Who knows, might find something.

@Tiressia I've spoken with S_S_Majin and I've been told, that at the time, there will be no new mods for Cold Steel IV, but I have the permission to include them with my mods. I've already sorted them out into separate directories, but I still need to work on compatibility, so we don't get the red messages. That would need some time on my end, and I also don't want to release an update just for that. (Also some of them can't be used together, and then you'll still get errors, but my loader takes care of that.) The ones for CS3 were always included with the files, you've downloaded from the "Mod Request" thread. I won't be including them since mine are for the 4th title only.

@Teosz

The red messages appear only at when starting the game, and vanish before the save game even loaded, So, in that regards, it's merely a cosmetic issue for me. It's not like I'm seeing monsters in bikinis and stuff. I'll make me a script to use your loader, and see if the messages persist.

I'll patiently await your next update, though I'm quite happy already with the mods as they are atm.

Kindly & gratefully,

T.

Quick fix for the red messages:

1. Drag the folder:

(Z: indicates the ZIP file; M: indicates "your ToCS IV/bin/Win64/Mods")

"Z:/Trails of Cold Steel See-Through Mod/ToCS IV/The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel IV/Win64/Mods/Textures/" to M: and name it "S_S_Majin"

2. Remove towels that came with Teosz' mod.

The not-plastic Academy swimsuits are in the ZIP file in "/Trails of Cold Steel See-Through Mod/ToCS III/[option] Academy Swimsuit - More transparent/Textures/"

@Teosz

You mentioned a nude Sharon in some post. What costume does she need to have equipped to have it showing?

I suspect that every model has a nude version inside the databases, albeit not found yet. With time,when all models are found, we could probably have all characters nude.

Model can actually be extracted from the PC version of the game, look at this page: https://gist.github.com/uyjulian/6c590476819bf3bfde6fc78aa3765698

@char967

Thanks for replying :)

Although I'd love to learn how to mod myself, and am kinda eager to do so actually, I don't know where to start. Where to learn the basics, and where to find the needed programs.

Info that points me, a humble Linux user, in the right direction would be veeery welcome.

So I looked into your link, but found a page that is highly confusing to me. Could you please elaborate on it some more?

I am a very experienced programmer, even old-school stuff like C and assembly, but I never worked with 3D stuff as a programmer.

Following the instructions and using the tools on that site models can be extracted and edited, but there still no way to repack edited models inside the game.
So all models have been found and no nude models...

I downloaded the ZIP file, and received a 8.8 kB file which contained merely a copy of the text that the page shows.

I don't see any tools mentioned anywhere.

I did create a VR-Chat account now though.

Let's see where it goes from there...

Not sure if this screenshot will help you fix the controller issues but the Bullet Girls Phantasia mod folder that works for me on Steam with PS4 controller looks like this. As you can probably tell, I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff but I do know for a fact that lots of other games using 3d mig mods work on Steam just fine with PS4 controller. So I've no idea why TOCS4 is the exception.

I re-downloaded the mod files because I re-installed the ToCS4, but they are not the ones that I had previously. For some reason, I don't get the Teozs message anymore, and the mods don't work for me anymore. There are no more sub-directories for each character, I don't find the directories  to select which version of Juna's Active Bikini I want, and the towels are not transparent.

Any clue what I might be doing wrong? Or are the previous versions of the mod still available?

The mod does seem to work on Steam, but not on the CODEX version (from fitgirl-repacks.site) that I play. Is this by design, or is there a way to overcome that?

On the Steam version, I have the mods working now, kinda. Combining the old mods (which I found in a back-up directory) with the new mods that turn the hot spring towels transparent. I get a lot of red messages when I combine them. But if I use the transparent hot spring mod alone, the Active Bikini is not transparent, and all clothes still have their skirts.

Kindly, T.

The d3dx seems of wrong extension possibly an .inf instead of .ini
