Identifying broken CAS items

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a way to find what a particular item in CAS is since I have a few that are broken. Annoyingly the thumbnails for those items aren't always clear and the items themselves are broken in a way that I can't tell what they are.

Is there either a way to get names of items when you hover over them in CAS, or when you have a sim wear them? I know there's a way to get outfit details with MCCC but that just gave me a bunch of codes that I have no idea how to link to particular CC items. I've also tried to go through S4S to find them but everything seemed to work fine in that. Is there a better way than spending a few hours checking files by way of elimination?

Other than posting a screenshot and asking "what CC is this"? None that I would know of.

However, you can improve your process of elimination by using methods like 50/50 to quickly make some progress initially - assuming that you don't have a hundred broken CAS items and/or a million files to check, of course. Last time I had to go through my 1500 files of CAS CC, it took me about half an hour to find the two bad apples I was looking for, and I spent some of that time on splitting my one CC folder into different ones for hairstyles, outfits and so on.

Well crap. I was really hoping for some genius alternative my google skills couldn't find. But thanks anyway! Never hurts to ask.

You can use Sims 4 Tray importer to find out what cc that sim is wearing.

There is a bit of a learning curve but not bad.

Best if that test subject is a single sim not within a family or you get everything the family is wearing too.

You have to save that sim to Gallery so the mod can find them.

Once you run Tray Importer it should have a list of Tray sims in your Library.

Select the one you want next and give it a minute to load.

Now go up to the top menus to files and pick export with cc.

It will come up with the list of mods and cc they are using in game.

Keep in mind it will also list things like Wicked Whims and other mods so just uncheck all the mods.

You only want to keep cc items for export.

Once you hit go it will export you sim to desktop in a .zip file.

Make a temp folder and move the zip into there to extract it.

You will notice a Mods folder containing all their cc used as a reference.

Now you can remove just those cc items one at a time from game and test.

Depends on how much you have but otherwise you have to pull all 10 from the game and you still don't know which one is bad out of the 10.

That does sound useful! Thanks for the tip.

Works like a charm! Thanks so much @Scorpio
