Dragon's Dogma

I'm a huge fan of this game!

 

With the new re release of Dragon's Dogma :Dark Arisen expansion, I was hoping to see more people come to like it as much as I do.

 

The mix of art style, customization, open world,and Japanese/western RPG make this highly recommended to anyone!

 

Has anyone played the Original or the new expansion currently?

We already had a thread about DD and how awesome it is , I'm picking up Dark Arisen as soon as I get the money .

1.Arisen is DLC that is not sold as DLC, they said that previous DD was not made with DLC in mind so they can't "hook up "  Arisen to the game since there is no code for it.

 So you have to buy DD again this time with Arisen.

 

2.They deliberately thumbed down graphics in Arisen so after applaying HD patch everyone would be like WoW !

So now way in hell I'm going to pay twice for the same game.

Yes , but that way we are implying everyone has an internet connection , while dark arisen is the entire of dragon's dogma (textures ,meshes , scripts and so forth )and entirely new content like skyrim's Dragonborn dlc and all the previous dlc for DD ,the second disc serves the same purpose as Halo 4's second disc , to put things that couldn't fit on the first disc.

At first they said that it would be DLC so I didn't really pay attention to it and now it's standalone game....

I think I will just sell my DD and buy DD : Arisen.

Forcing folks to "rebuy" the base game to enjoy the expansion and HD textures is just bait and switch, which is pure bullshit.  Capcom truly is the bottom of the barrel when it comes to companies and even worse than EA (and we all know how bad EA is).

 

They easily could have sold the HD textures and other new areas\features as an expansion DLC.  Nothing wrong with also selling a "GOTY" all in one version too.  But don't punish those that already bought the damn thing for crying out loud!

 

Capcom and "lazy fuckers" is starting to become synonymous.

Eh, I don't know about elsewhere but in the UK, Dark Arisen costs £20 which is far less than new games like Bioshock Infinite (£38) and about £5 more than Skyrim DLC.

The HD textures part is correct but the rest is wrong.  The expansion could have been included on a single disc.  Instead capcom made the decision not to.  Probably so they could up the cost.

Well for me the whole " We can't make Arisen as DLC because there is no code to hook it up " is nice bshit since in marketplace you can buy smaller dlc that you can unlock in game (most of them where on disc in first place ) so they COULD make it as DLC (And let's be honest when was the last time you as triple AAA title without code that allows later to add DLC )

But why charge 10$ for DLC when you can 20/30$ +

• More skills/equipment/augments:

• • ​Level 3 Skills DD: DA provides each character class with a new tier of skills, giving players new devastating abilities and skills to master
  • Over 100 pieces of new equipment
  • All new high level weapons and armour sets for players venturing into the underground caverns
  • 14 new character/Pawn augments
  • New tiers of equipment enhancement
• ​Increased character customization options
• Item appraisal
• Option to select Japanese voice over

 

 

 

So rather than making an overpriced 20 € dlc like skyrim did with dawngaurd and dragonborn ^{which aren't as big} they made a GOTY which includes all of it for 10 more €

DD 2 would be pretty awesome but I really hope they don't add fast travel , fast travel is the worst it takes all the immersion out of a game, what would be awesome though is mounts  mules ,horses , drakes and so forth .

Hmm if I remember correctly lack of fast travel was main gripe in many revievs.

And It seems I have no other choice than to buy Arisen import my character and then sell DD since keeping them both don't have much sense.

EXCEPT, that they didn't offer a discount to those who had already purchased the original game, nor a separate way to purchase "just" the DLC.  That is fucking your customer base NO MATTER how you slice it!

 

There is nothing at all wrong in making a fully bundled "GOTY" type version for folks new to the franchise.  I am not arguing about that in the slightest.  I am merely pointing out they are gouging those that "already" bought the original game.  That will NEVER sit will with those folks and they are the folks that made them money in the first place.  Fucking over your customer base is a poor business practice and certainly has the potential to jeopardize future releases.

While I really "hope" this isn't the case.........knowing how stupid capcom is......it probably will be true.

 

Seriously, I don't understand how companies can't understand how much modding a single player game can help extended the shelf life of games.  Just look at the Total War series and or TES\Fallout games.  Modding fixed the glaring issues that the company wouldn't (or couldn't) and has kept folks interested in them YEARS after they would have been on the 1 to 5 dollar rack.

 

Obviously this doesn't apply to multiplayer or MMO's as that is a separate issue.
