Veta Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Probably some of you have heard of the next xbox's always online requirement and everyone is acting like a fucking fish. I just wanted to say it's bollocks by microsoft so when they say there is no such requirement people will be amazed ; Microsoft has always played little mind tricks like this, I just can't believe how stupid people are .
leddis3 Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I find it odd that Microsoft would even be considering this, after things like Sim City and the PSN fiasco a while back, surely it's more trouble than it's worth? That's why I think it's hard to believe at least, though given stuff like EA and Ubisoft's antics and the fact that Microsoft is regarded as EvilCorp, I can understand the kneejerk reactions.
HanPL Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Well I was afraid of that. I was planning on buying X720/Durango but now I think about PS4 Constant online can be catastrophic like we saw with new Sim city. And I remember watching IGN where they said in that new Xbox will link your games to your account (like steam and origin ) so no more used or rented games + from time to time it will verify if the game your playing is "yours "
Nonsense667 Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Yup, if this is true, I'm not getting the next xbox. Simple as that.
Astaroth-Lite Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I already gave up on consoles, it's okay Microsoft and Sony, you don't have to keep doing this.

Want multiple saves? Screw you, you get one per city. Want to destroy your city in an orgy of mass destruction? Well screw you, you can't because you're just going to permanently blow up all your work. Server out of sync? Screw you, your save gets rolled back to the server's last backup. What a great modern era of gaming! It feels like we're paying fees to rent time on publisher servers rather than buying games
Vulgaris Magistralis Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 I wasn't planning on getting an Xbox anyway....though I'm not planning on getting a PS4 straight away either....

Whoever came up with this idea of constant connection, should be shot...they blow up zilions of cash on this shit, while instead it could be used to make really good games and support the player communities. Why is it that every damn idiot on this planet that has some power wants to have control over everything, people throw money their way and they screw them in return, really nice deal.. I really would like to see the day coming where people say enough of this bs and take their money elsewhere...but even if that would happen these idiots would never agree it was their fault...but this system really needs to fall.
Veta Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 My point was that Durango wont have always online nor will it block used games , this is just a trick so when you hear it wont have this horrible features you'll be so relieved/happy that like the console .
HanPL Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 It might have. Kotaku mentioned 2 diffrent sources that confirm this rumor + many other testers of Durango said it will have always online drm Also checkt tweets between this 2 guys : http://www.gamespot.com/users/JustPlainLucas/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=m-100-26018865 O yea and this
Astaroth-Lite Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Remember when Sony was saying they wanted to find a way to tie game disk media to a specific hardware unit? Or that idea of giving people RF tags that cause their games to stop working when they aren't near their console? Those where also pretty funny, though far less believable.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Always online is more believable these days, when THE CLOUD is a buzz term and everybody is assuming that somehow it will make everything better. A lot like digital downloads; and we see how well that turned out for consoles, where they still charge you in store prices for a download because there's no competition (unlike PC, where we have several) outside of buying a physical copy, and even those are slowly going away. After Windows 8 and its mobile styles interface for desktops, nothing they do will surprise me. EDIT: Also, when will the fake angry Internet reviewer/commentator thingy finally end?
TheoryoftheDead Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 As long as people keep buying this shit, the developers will keep supplying it. People seriously need to set their foot down and just NOT buy these kind of games(or in this case system) connected to this friggin' bullshit - not buy it and THEN proceed to whine over how they got fucked over, something they were pretty much aware was going to happen to them even before they bought the game. There's way too much people that does the latter today. Why would they care what you think about their product, when you(as well as millions of others) have already paid for it? These companies have made it quite clear they don't give a shit about customer satisfaction or convenience, as long as the money keeps rolling in.
